The long-awaited conclusion to the Glendaria Awakens Trilogy!
After their Dungeon Core was stolen, Devin headed out of their dungeon, searching for those who had taken it. Initially confused on where it could be located, he followed a vague feeling in his chest toward a distant destination.
Finding help from a guild of players who also wanted to return the Core, they embark on a mission to reacquire and return it before time runs out.
This was a much more polished book, compared to 1 and 2.
They could've all been collected into one single novel as part of a series, but the author calls this the end of his trilogy.
If I ever come back to this series, I'll most likely wait, much like I did this time, until they are all out due to their size and how prosaically they might all be the same story arc.
I had slight hopes since the 2nd book's cliffhanger could be made to work. But the last book feels rushed, and stuff that could fill an additional trilogy is dispensed with in the last third of the book. You get the impression that Brooks wanted the series to be over, and that's it. So, meh.
The trilogy was a great read and the final epic battle was impressive. I liked the well structured monster combining, the player classes having effective roles that made a difference and the boss mobs being their own personalities. Recommended,
Completely unbelievable character actions. Ridiculous sudden changes in story direction. The entire series is a one star. Do not waste your time on this drivel.
I am so happy that Krista admits that she likes Devin. I loved the town build, and that the guild that helped got to defend it. I wonder who bought Krista’s house, I guess we will never know, but we can guess.
Just like that the tension is gone and now it's just growing the dungeon. Really struggling to understand what the goal of this story is. Just surviving isn't enough of a plot.
Mr. Brooks is a great writer, and seen in his other books. I believe Dungeon World may be his best.
In this book, with every name being a teenagers top MMORPG pick, it reminds me of exactly why I don’t play ORPG’s anymore. Add to that sexual innuendos, unflattering Mob names, and an irritating desire to play every game class as a matter of course. This series was definitely focused toward the very young MMORPG’ers.
I do love Mr. Brooks style, and his ‘Core’ world building is fantastic, but this series leaves me unfulfilled.
