Guys.... you neeeeeed to read this book! Like really, go read it! I once again went in blindly to reading this book, and I knew that it was going to be one of my favorite books of the year about halfway through! This is a must read! In fact, now that I finished I’m planning on reading everything else that Claire Legrand has written because I loved her writing style! I will say heads up for younger readers this book definitely has some mature moments.
This book has multiple point of views; we follow both Rielle and Elaina who exist in different time periods but have a connection of sorts. Both of these point of views were absolutely amazing to follow! This book went by so fast because I was constantly wanting to continue the next povs story. I usually can tell what twists and turns are going to happen in a story, but this book really pleasantly surprised me! I loved the characters, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book! Seriously recommend this for fantasy lovers! One of the best starting books to a series!
Take away I loved the characters, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book! I didn’t want this book to end! Seriously recommend this for fantasy lovers! One of the best starting books to a series!
Only getting to read the first few chapters, it's really difficult to say how the remainder of this book will go. While the premise is loud and in your face, a book like this requires perfect execution in order to get all of the details (not to mention 1000-year gapped storylines) in a row.
The book literally starts out with a bang. A lot is happening and thrown at the reader, which is a little overwhelming.
Reading some reviews on Furyborn, I know that it is NOT a Young Adult book and geared towards New Adult readers. That in and of itself also makes me leery to continue with it as New Adult books tend to be too focused on sexuality and explicit material. I'm not sure if I will end up picking up this book to finish or not.
So I got caught up enough to buy the Kindle version, against my better wishes. I’ve never paid $10 for an ebook before. This saga better be worth it or I’ll gripe throughout my reviews! LOL
Thank you Bookish First for providing me the first few chapters to read of Furyborn. It was a tease because it is now on my TBR list for my next book haul! I am full of questions..will Rielle beat the angelic forces trying to take over her soul? Is Eliana her decendant wearing the Queen Rielle's necklace and will the two lives colide? Queens fitting for the Iron Throne of Westeros are created by Legrand..I cant wait to read more of her work!..and Simon ..what happens to our time traveler? Does he fall in love with the baby he is sworn to protect? Fans of Shadowhunters and Kell in DarkerShadesOfMagic will adore the time bending and angelic/demon characteristics. I would love a book with Simon as the main character!
So many questions placed Furyborn at the top of my to read list .
The first chapter had me hooked and I was thrilled to see where Simon went and what happened to the baby, but the next chapter took me in a completely different direction;going backward and not forward.I think this is a bold move as the author has promised you in the beginning with an exciting past and now has to live up to it.I was slightly disappointed that I didn't get to follow Simon, but Rielle is just as fun.Rielle's character is interesting as seen in the beginning when she was intrigued in a murder and is somewhat arrogant when she thinks she is better than everyone else.I do find it unique that the author switch perspectives that are years apart.Rielle & Eliana are defiantly mom and daughter.
What do you mean this isn’t a stand alone? Whaaaaat
The Rielle’s chapters looked straight from a original story from Wattpad, but the the other girl’s ones (I already forgot her name) were more Game of Thrones like. More like 1x09 like. Holy shit, I don’t know if I should read the rest of the book.
The lore of this story and the world-building are excellent. I enjoyed reading it.
However, I do not think this should be advertised as Young Adult. It is New Adult. Both the age of the characters and the amount of graphic content do not fit into the Young Adult category. Which is why I gave it a 3 star instead of 4.
