This was an enjoyable read with cute projects. The author's enthusiasm is contagious! :0}

I especially liked her dolls, stuffed toys, and baby gifts. This designer cleverly blends vintage fabrics with felt appliques and machine and hand-embroidery to make unique items.

Highly-recommended to fans of vintage/retro fabrics and items.

I borrowed this book from the local public library.

very pretty & fun to look at. it inspired me to add a few more projects to my list. i have been wanting to make a set of napkins for the household, & this book has a project on place mats that was also inspiring. i doubt i will use the provided templates, which were a bit flowery & young for me (birds were involved), but you know. my relationship with sewing books is less, "i want to make this exact project," & more, "what an interesting technique/concept. how can i adapt this to my own skill level/interests/lifestyle/taste?"

i also liked the fabric portrait idea. i think i'll be trying that one too.

i kind of wondered how much the author is inspired by IKEA. i noticed one of the photos featured the exact same IKEA pillow that i have on my nursing chair. the embroidered lampshade project really seemed to be a riff on an embroidered lampshade i got at IKEA & repurposed for use on the overhead light in the library.

there were a lot of embroidery projects in this book. i have yet to experiment with embroidery. i do more patchwork, or just using prints (when making clothes). but maybe it's time to try my hand at embroidery too. i just fear i'm not imaginative enough or a good enough artist to do something good, but i guess there's only one way to find out.

I got some great ideas out of this for my children's sewing class. Easy to follow, bright and gorgeously illustrated.
