The greatest larry fanfiction I've ever red. Such a powerful message. I'm glad to be able to have the rights that I have, and I hope one day every queer person will have them. Let's embrace our flag with pride♥️
The storyline was sweet, but it was a little too mushy in the feels for me. The story started off strong af and kinda went a lil downhill from there. Sadly. I still really enjoyed it, tho!
He's not a watcher, observant and quiet. He's not seeing this all from a distance, he's not turning his back. He's right in the centre of it all, bustling through the street with people who feel exactly the same. He's part of this. It's all he's ever wanted. He thrusts the flag above his head with a triumphant hoot, waves it proudly, and smiles so hard his cheeks ache, so hard that his eyes water in the sunlight.
This book. THIS BOOK is so fucking good. I feel like if I tried hard enough, I could grab the 70s vibes. The writing is spectacular, captivating, and just... perfect. Before this book, I was reading kinda a bit shitty book, and let me tell you, when I started reading this wonderful story, I almost started crying. The writing is THAT good. I should've been studying for an exam but hell I don't regret finishing this masterpiece. This was an emotional rollercoaster. A good one. When a certain thing happened to Lou, I broke down. Same when Harry was telling his story. The character development in this book is a real one. And a beautiful one.
“Without hope, not only gays, but the blacks, the seniors, the handicapped, the us'es, the us'es will give up. And if you help elect to the central committee and other offices, more gay people, that gives a green light to all who feel disenfranchised, a green light to move forward. It means hope to a nation that has given up, because if a gay person makes it, the doors are open to everyone.” (Harvey Milk, 1978)
This book is honestly so, so beautiful.
Even though it’s fan fiction, it captured emotions and experiences I didn’t even know could be shared or put into words. It’s one thing for a story to engage its audience, but it’s a whole other thing to inspire them. For the first time in a while, I feel proud of who I am and so grateful for the people who’ve put themselves out there so I can have the freedom to express my sexuality and identity. It hasn’t always been easy, but this book reminded me just how far we’ve come.
Kudos to the author for creating something so unapologetically romantic and fan fiction-y, while also pouring their advocacy and passion into every word.
AND, I’d call this historical fiction because I know there’ve been so many “Harrys” and “Louises” in history—people who lived and embraced their truth to build the world for many today.
"And here, in the afterglow of a perfect day, in the heat of the slow setting sun and the glaze of happiness across both their faces, Louis feels complete freedom. Complete everything. It surges through him, makes him flush hot and cold all at once, the sudden jolt of emotion erupting inside".
AMAZING! I usually hate stories set in America, but this one is so beautifully written. The author, really very good, had in my opinion a wonderful idea. I really like the characters and this Louis is really special and worth protecting. The description of when those kids from school beat Lou just because he's homosexual was also beautiful; obviously I like the scene not because it's anti-gay, but because it's so well written and I felt bad for Louis and cried a lot. Harry has been great at helping him, and I love his knowledge of music. One of the most beautiful scenes is definitely the one where he makes Louis listen to the album "Wish you were here" by Pink Floyd, A REALLY BEAUTIFUL SCENE. I also really like the place. I didn't know about Post Falls, but after discovering it I loved this place. Also the vibes of this book are really absurd and fantastic. Truly a magnificent story that makes you cry and laugh.

“He wants to yell, wants to push his window open and yell to the whole town, to the whole world. He wants to say I’m here, why won’t you let me just be here? He wants to kick and thrash and scream like a child, wants to stand up on a table and spread his arms out and say here I am. You can’t erase me.”
Wow. Veramente bellissima. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️,5/5
“Look, Lou.” Louis lifts his eyes. “There’s your star,” Harry muses. “Our star,” Louis corrects.
This is one of my most favourite Larry fanfics I have ever read. From the characters, atmosphere, story, and romance between Harry and Louis is just pure perfection. Probably one of my top fanfics (and I have read a lot).
very powerful message and loved the ‘70s vibe. was sort of forgettable, personally, and didn’t really connect as much as i have with other fics. still a very beautiful story.
