Now in its fourth edition, this public speaking handbook is appropriate for courses in introductory public speaking or business and professional speaking or can be used as a reference tool. Based on communication theory, the authors offer concrete suggestions on how to approach public speaking as a collaborative endeavor between the speaker and the listener.
There was a wealth of examples, which was nice. I enjoyed the way the authors challenged statements a speaker may make that would inadvertently offend an audience, especially advocating for more inclusive language. I thought the authors at times spent too long on things that didn’t need to be explained for such a long portion. Other places seemed a little too brief. Other than that, it was a good textbook
