There are 365 love poems in this volume--one for every day of the year, and suited to every mood and taste. Certainly, styles and languages reflect their times; and a poem by Robert Herrick from the seventeenth century sounds very different than twentieth-century lines by Carl Sandburg. But concerns and sentiments have remained surprisingly constant, and words written in years past reflect today's personal experiences of love.
The poems are arranged thematically, which will aid the reader who, on a particular day, may wish to dwell upon a poem about physical love rather than lost love, or vice versa. An alphabetical Index of poets provides a complete listing of all 365 poems.
