Aromatherapy for Beginners by Anne Kennedy is one of the most comprehensive essential oil books I've seen in quite some time.  The author was thorough, however, I found a couple of errors that I want to clear up.

If you get essential oils in your eyes or other sensitive mucous membranes, do not flush the area with water but with a carrier oil such as coconut oil or even olive oil. Grapefruit essential oil does not interact with medications as grapefruit juice does.  To learn more about that, check out pharmacist Dr. Lindsey Elmore's explanation.

The author mentions a number of essential oils companies.  Unfortunately, she utterly dismisses Young Living as an expensive provider while she fails to accept that these oils are safe for consumption due to their Seed to Seal process.

I appreciate the fact that this book covers 15 of the most common essential oils rather than trying to talk about every single one of them.  The oils covered in the book are Clary Sage, Clove, Eucalyptus (globulus), Frankincense (boswellia carterii, b. serrate, b. sacra), Geranium, Grapefruit, Lavender (lavandula angustifolia), Lemon, Lemongrass, Patchouli, Peppermint, Roman Chamomile, Rosemary, Tea Tree, and Thyme. In the pages that directly address each oil, the author covers oils that each oil blends well with, substitutes for the oil, healing properties, issues that the oil treats, precautions, application methods, and popular uses.

The last 2/3 of the book are remedies, recipes, and applications using the 15 most common oils and they are listed under three headings:  Remedies for everyday health and ailments, Recipes for personal care and emotional well-being, and Applications for the home and outdoors. Topics covered in each heading are the most common uses that one would look for when using essential oils.  So, the most common physical conditions such as allergies, blisters, insomnia, and menstrual cramps are found in the everyday health and ailments section. Topics such as acne, depression, oily skin, and stress are found in the personal care and emotional well-being section.  The home and outdoor heading covers household cleaning, laundry, gardening and houseplants, and pests.

All-in-all, I have found that this book is comprehensive and a great addition to an essential oil library.  This will be a book I keep for future reference.

Wow, what a plethora of knowledge in a relatively short book!!!!

This book is such a wonderful source of much needed information for the "beginning" of a new art form with Essential Oils!!!! The recipes are so simple and the products are not difficult to work with to achieve things we use in everyday life. It amazes me how many dangerous products are in the creams, lotions, shampoos, and cleaners we have been using for years around our precious family members. I have learned so much in the past month about Essential Oils and the healthy beneficial products we can create for ourselves and our families, I can hardly wait to get started and sharing with others. I am already diffusing, and now for the bigger stuff. Thank you Anne Kennedy for all your books and helpful information. You are a true blessing to many, and I thank God for you and all your research. From one West Virginia Mountaineer to another, thank you and God bless. You have given me hope for a better life.... without all the harmful chemicals.😊😊😊😊😊

I received this as a gift and it was like receiving a gift I never knew I always wanted. I know that it’s ‘trending’ to look like you’re striving for health and wellness these days but to really have access to the knowledge made available in this resource, it’s a game changer for real. From A to Z, it breaks down clearly aromatherapy solutions for every ailment and does it in plain layman’s terms. I received the paperback and it is such the perfect size; not too big and not too small. The book had way more photos than what I anticipated and that makes the reading experience even better. Aromatherapy for Beginners: The Complete Guide to Getting Started with Essential Oils is a must have for every household and also the perfect gift for any occasion.

This is a great book, not only for beginners. I love the amount of blends and recipes in it and it's really well organized. Of the ones I've tried so far all of them were wonderful.

I've repurposed a few recipes for other uses and they worked out well too. So glad this is part of my library.
