What a mind bender! Gripping story, that you are engulfed in right from the start. Love the MC Jack! Did NOT see the ending coming! I loved how it left me with my mouth hanging open. I figured out one aspect, but not the other! Excellent book!
Vince Vogel is a new author to me, but he certainly won't be after these first two books! I love finding a new fantastic series, and I feel like I hit the jackpot with this one! The plot wasn't original, I have read two similar to this, but that is where the likeness ends. The writing is exceptional, the characters are both likable and despicable, (depending on the character), and the author isn't afraid of getting messy. He writes about old school detectives, and the younger ones astounded at what they do! I recommend this book highly!
A mystery that grips you from page 1. I promise you that you will be shocked at the end. I was certainly shocked! Just when you think you know what is going to happen, you really don't lol.
You will get to know Jack better and what happened in his past that he still has nightmares about, as well as learn more about his daughter.
I really like DC Lange and Jack's tech guy Jimmy. They are good for Jack.
Another great Jack Shepherd book. Just bought and I am reading the next in the series. It always ends where you need to find out what happened to some of the characters. He might be a rogue cop who's been demoted and always in trouble but he's great at solving crimes. Keeps you thinking to the end 'who's done it'. Hope there is going to be more in this series.
This is the second book in the Jack Sheridan series. I loved the first one, gave it 5 stars and could not wait to read the second one. I was not in any way disappointed. Vince Vogel is an exceptional author. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat. I read it in a 24 hour period because I could not put it down. Serial killing by a group, revenge by a surviving victim.
The main character, Jack Sheridan, is a former Scotland Yard inspector who now works for the local police. Considered wash up, he gets involved in three cases which are tied together. The story is raw, brutal, gruesome...but engaging to the very end.
My first book by this author. Good detective story. As with most British crime novels, the police are all normal human beings with faults and imperfect lives. This is a good thing. In this story some have quite impressive faults. I will read more by this author.
Hmmmmm...too similar in in theme of story to first book. Interesting twist s and turns and I figured cheer would be a connection but did not see the end coming. Gonna leave Jack for a while.
Confusing to say the least. Good mystery with lots of twists and misdirection, a lot of the confusion from the typically English language and way of telling things. Straight forward ending with a logical summary that clarified most of the questions.
I have only read one of his books and this is the second one. It did not disappoint. You have so many plots and twist that you can figure out who is the culprit. Mystery, mayhem and more.
New author for me. Love the writing, the mystery behind the well thought out story. A lot of twist throughout the “who done it”. Great character builder. I’ll read all the the Jack Sheridan mystery books. Keep them coming!
A man is found dead, hanged and partially skinned. The story is dark and twisting. It was a bit confusing in the with so many detectives and others involved, but ended up being a great read. The twist at the end was unexpected.
I was very invested in this story and could not wait for the reveal of the who done it. It was sometimes hard to keep the players names straight but I just concentrated so as not to miss any detail. Major surprise at the end. Moving on to book 3
The story starts off with a murder of Claire Pritchard. It has corrupt cops and people who were abused at Clay House who want revenge for what had happened. The killer is not who the reader thinks it is.
Great crime thriller, a real page turner, hard to put down. Dark tales of sexual abuse of boys in orphanages, by their "betters", resulting in rape and revenge - topped off with a fine bouquet of corrupt cops, junkies and hookers. What could go wrong?
It's a mystery all to it's self one that is hard to understand what would make a person or group of people act like this but it seems as if evil is going to make sense in the end or does it?
