Frisky Pines #1

Alpha's Awakening

Rate this book
An MM Mpreg Romance.

One true alpha. One fated mate. A hard knot to remember.

Bear shifter Logan Bishop is both protective of his omega, and loyal to the core. Destined to reclaim his fated mate, he wakes up from a terrible vision. The small town he once loved and cared for is in danger again, and it’s up to him to save it.

Growing up, Logan only desired one thing: to be with his mate forever. The jaguar shifter Jackson is handsome and cunning. He always knew they were destined to be together. When they were younger, they would crawl into bed and swear they’d never let go. Everything felt so perfect. They were on the path to living an ideal life.

But then the fires happened. Years ago, Frisky Pines was ravaged. Separated from his mate, Logan was forced to skip town to find his true destiny.

When Jackson sees him for the first time in six years, both of their lives change forever. Logan can’t help himself. Seeing his omega again is more than he can handle. Jackson becomes pregnant with twins, and they have embark on a journey together.

After years of being forced apart, Logan wants to know what love is like again. Pushed into harm’s way, he vows to protect his pregnant mate, no matter what the cost.

They make a lifelong promise to each other. They tie the knot for good.

Couldn't do it. Dnt at 34%. Reminded me of Susi Hawke's Destiny series and that was much better than this by far.

The first chapter ('mystical prologue') was such a confusing mess I couldn't make myself continue, even with the shift in scene/writing/characters to 'modern day'.

Usually I don't rate less than 3 stars esp. shifter novels. But this book doesn't have a good flow of story. too many things happening way too quickly. I have read many novels with awesome story line written in a better way.
The storyline is good but the way it was written... not quite there

I stopped reading it half way... thought will continue after a gap to develop patience to resume reading again but there are so many other books to read !!

Makes no sense

No real explanations are ever given for why anyone does anything. No good world-building takes place. If you're not getting it for free then you're wasting your money.

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it was written. What you will find in this delightful book is: drama, mystery, adventure, some humor, needs & desires, romance, love and some erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written and keeps the reader’s attention. The characters are well developed with personalities and moods suited to the situations they find themselves in. This is a well written M/M Mpreg Romance with a HEA and I would recommend this book to people who like to read this kind of book

This book...I don't even know what to say. It certainly wasn't what I was expecting. I wanted to give it a 3 but I felt confused a lot in this story as to what going on. A lot of the time I had to go back because i wasn't sure which character was saying what despite the chapter telling you whose pov it's supposed to be. I will give the second book a try but if it's like this one i will not be reading the third.

This is a good read. A MM shifter romance about Logan, a bear shifter and his fated mate Jackson, a jaguar shifter. As these two are reunited after being torn apart six years ago, Logan must fight for their love, his pregnant mates safety and the HEA they have been denied for far too long. I am posting an honest review after reading an advance copy of this book.

It's a NO
This book isn't well written in my opinion, everything is confused. I stopped at 39% and I didn't understand a thing about what I read until now. Who is who ? The plot ? the background ?
Nothing... I understand Nothing, because it's isn't explained....AT ALL.
It's like read a succession of words put together that make sentences that make paragraphs that don't make sense at all.

This was a good MM / Mpreg shifter romance, with some magic, some adventure, and some good sexy MM scenes. I enjoyed it very much. A few little things I caught had me wondering, like when Logan thought to himself Meow, even though he's a bear shifter, but it was an overall entertaining read.

Liked this book. Second time reading one of Ms Shaw's book and I'm on for more. Struggled between a 3 and4 star rating. Would have scored more if more developed. A bit erratic and short.

DNF @ 12%

When reading a novella/short story it needs to grip you in the first chapter.

This doesn’t, the prologue was confusing and did not lead me to want to finish trying to understand

The prologue and first two chapters were too weird for me to continue.
