The most brilliant examination ever written on the Cuban Revolution. So good, Fidel Castro threw the author, Polish Marxist K.S. Karol, out of Cuba after publication, accusing him of being "a CIA agent". That's K.S. on the back cover standing fraternally next to Fidel. Everything Karol found wrong with Castroism still haunts Cuba today; one-man rule, an agricultural system that can't feed the Cuban people, no room for dissent, inside or outside the Communist Party, and a stagnant cultural scene. Karol has read everything ever published on Cuba, talked to every high government official, including numerous hours with Fidel, and brings his own experience with European Stalinism to bear in predicting the mighty accomplishments and failures of world communism's only "guerrilla road to socialism". A must read.

Se egne noter for forskel på denne succesfulde revolution og den fejlslagne guerillakrig i Bolivia fra cirka midten af 1960’erne og år frem - hvor Che mister livet. Der er nemlig kæmpe forskel for udgangspunktet for de to revolutioner, men alligevel vælger Che og co. at forsøge i Bolivia, fordi det alligevel er det bedste bud på et land i latinamerika, der er klar på en revolution.
