Some creatures have dots. Some have stripes. Some have squiggles. Some creatures have dots and stripes. Some have dots and squiggles. And some have all three—dots, stripes, and squiggles! A simple and striking board book, this innovative introduction to patterns and shapes features nine extraordinary sea creatures (which are identified at the end), bringing the marine world to life.
baby/toddler boardbook (animals, patterns) this is great! The board book is 8" tall and 6.25" wide (maybe a tiny bit bigger would be PERFECT for my very wiggly baby/toddler storytime group). text is short and straightforward, and did I mention Short? Pictures are engaging and the pattern recognition and animals encourage interaction. The fish are all identified by name at the end, which is also nice.
Wonderful use of simplicity and repetition, which still manages to impress and surprise. Incredible watercolors, use of scale and art to introduce concepts, representative parts, and then whole animals, escalating to more complex animals. Awesome.
