For the five rock gods of Sole Regret, finding love is easy; keeping it is hard. This anthology contains two novels-#10 and #11-from the best-selling One Night with Sole Regret serial series. In TREASURE ME, Sole Regret's troubled guitarist, Kellen "Cuff" Jamison, struggles to get over a past love and is hopeful that his new, treasured lover, Dawn O'Reilly, is the balm that will heal his tattered soul. But Dawn's career as a Hollywood composer is about to take off, and he'd never dream of holding her back. Can their fragile new love overcome his tragic past and her bright future? In TRUST ME, Sole Regret's inventive drummer, Gabe "Force" Banner, doesn't know how to proceed when his life as a rock star is suddenly torn away. His girlfriend, Melanie Anderson, is willing to turn her own stable world upside down for a chance to spend her life with him, but with no stability in his life, he's not sure he can ask it of her. Can they learn to trust the strength of their love to get them through any obstacle life throws their way?
Combining her love for romantic fiction and rock ‘n roll, Olivia Cunning writes erotic romance centered around rock musicians. Raised on hard rock music from the cradle, she attended her first Styx concert at age six and fell instantly in love with live music. She's been known to travel over a thousand miles just to see a favorite band in concert. As a teen, she discovered her second love, romantic fiction -- first, voraciously reading steamy romance novels and then penning her own. Growing up as the daughter of a career soldier, she's lived all over the country and overseas. She recently moved to Galveston, Texas.
Ok soooo overall the book was ok, it picks up with each of the band members and I don’t mind that but I am just not a fan of the dramalama like I once did. I did like Gabe and Melanie but her friend Niki isn’t my favorite I do like that she feels the kinship with Adam. I don’t know I guess I wanted to see Shade smarten up with Amanda near the end of this one. We will see if and when the audio for the next two books come out. The narration was the best part of this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance readers copy of this book. No remuneration was exchanged and all opinions presented herein are my own except as noted.
PLEASE NOTE: I am reviewing the TANTOR MEDIA Audio edition of the book
I admire Olivia Cunning’s ability to to make the totally impossible lives and affairs of these bad boys of rock and roll both compelling and really hot. This spin-off from the Sinners on Tour series features guys with surprisingly old-fashioned values even while having some massively impressive kink.
Again, my issue with audio is that when there are a lot of characters it can be hard to keep them all straight. Justine O. Keef does a great job delivering the poignant, the ridiculous and even, “the good parts.” And, she must need to turn the AC up on high, or hang out in a snow bank, as she reads some of this.
Throughout the book, the band is going through some hard times, even breaking up due to the singer and the lead guitarist being on the outs.
I liked the “good parts” in the first book where Kellan and Dawn have some blisteringly hot sheet time. Kellan has been mostly celibate and sort of straight after his first girlfriend dies. What he has not done is learn to handle emotions well or come to terms with his attraction to his fellow bandmate. This has turned into a huge rift between Kellan and Owen at a time when their friendship is most important. Dawn is a little more mature than he is, she handles issues a little more intellectually. And, I like they appreciate each other’s music.
THe second story TRUST ME, visits Gabe, the Q of sex toys, science genius and all around good guy. His girlfriend’s BFF is a screwed-up nymphomaniac. He is super kind to both Melanie and her friend. I didn’t find this story neither as hot, nor as believable as the the TREASURE ME. He invents amazing sex toys which his previously buttoned-up girl is totally into. He reminds me of a characters from Joey Hill’s Knights of the Boardroom series who also makes ingenious, but sadly non-existent sex toys.
I’ve enjoyed Cunning’s rock and roll series. While the endings of both stories felt unfinished I would recommend them to any one who loves Cunning’s bad boys in all their glory. But, if you have not read her don’t start with this one as it is a little too far into the series.
Treasure Me continues Kellen & Dawn's story. Kellen is reeling from Jacob's departure that broke up the band, his rift with best friend Owen, & the impending paternity test of Lindsey's pregnancy. Dawn is his rock and love as he takes steps to let go of the past with Sara. Dawn's musical career is taking off and she's traveling a lot while trying to see as much of Kellen as she can. Both of them are intent on their relationship with each other and things keep getting in the way. Trust Me is a continuation of Gabe & Melanie's story. I didn't like how this part of the story went. They are moving in together but Melanie is bringing best friend, master manipulator, needy, clingy Nikki too. Gabe is none to happy with the deal but accepts it cause he loves Melanie. Laying ground rules for Nikki she of course breaks them with total disregard to Gabe and Melanie. Melanie meets Gabe's family and Gabe's missing rocking with the band. Teaming up with Adam they try and delve into what the hell is wrong with Jacob and his rash decision Uncertain of their future Gabe and Melanie pull out all the stops with a bombshell from Nikki that might just be an answer. Also adding stress is the pending Lindsey paternity test
Treasure Me, Sole Regret 10 - Kellen and Dawn part 2 - more angst.
Trust Me, Sole Regret 11 - Gabe and Melanie part 3 - I like their love story. Nicky evolves too. I wish Ms. Cunning would wrap up these issues: 1) the identity of Lindsay’s baby daddy, 2) figure out if Kellen and Owen are in (romantic) love or not, 3) get Tina out of Jacob’s life, get the band back together and get Amanda & Jacob back together. Also - Lindsay & Chad (Owen’s brother)?!?! Does that mean Chad and his long-term girlfriend broke up? And now to wait for more (audio) books to be published.
Treasure Me This cut to the bone. There are so many issues to contend with in this book. You have the separation of Kellin and Dawn.
Trust Me Gabe is about to lose his stuff. Adam is willing to step up to the plate. Everyone is trying to get down to the bottom of what is going on. You have a lot more questions at the end than answers. Will Jacob really tell everyone what is going on? Will Owen and Kelly talk again? Does Lindsay and the brother get together? Who is the baby daddy? I think the only person you are sure about at this point is Gabe and his lady love in addition to becoming a daddy; Nicole and her issue getting straightened out, and that Amanda is heart broken in so many ways.
Book 10 = 2 Stars I was bored with Kellen’s book. It didn’t expand the story. And I don’t find Kellen & Dawn interesting.
Book 11 = 5 Stars I’m interested in Gabe & Melanie. I wasn’t as annoyed with Nikki as usual. The story added to the series. We got answers to a few things. I liked the story!
Ok I'm lying. I never read this book. But the cover is a gem! (apologies to the author and fans for making fun. I do enjoy a steamy romance title occasionally)
