Yep, Still reading this series, no I dont know why. After having built up a substantial castle, inside of a valley with only one way in, in less than a year. Using magic and cutting the stone right out of the mountain at 6ft*6ft*6ft stones and levitating into place. And then using runes to empower the walls. Our main character, the Prince/King of this kingdom goes on walk about. Starting off he agrees to personally help deliver a pair of people through a less than friendly neighboring kingdom on the verge of a revolt. Then after he gets almost to the coast where he was gonna take them, the dragon one of them is bound too, shows up to give them a ride home. Now free of that task, he gets on a boat so that he does not have to walk back through the hostile kings lands. Does he make his way home after that, of course not. He gets distracted by chasing down slavers in his grand fathers kingdom. While the main character is not being the leader he needs to be, their are other people plotting to destroy his kingdom, and trying to sow discord in his lands. And once again, channeling George RR Martin, he writes off the #3 in his kingdom while he is proposing to another important member of the kingdom who is also killed here. The prince finally returns as the walls of his castle are under attack by mages who are already written off as a lost cause by the spy who run amok killing people, including one more of the royal family, who is not quite dead. They will have to go and visit some necromancers in the next book to determine his final status.

Treachery in Tarnstead is the fifth book in the Stoneblood Saga by Robyn Wideman. This is a fast-paced, character-driven fantasy series that blends classic coming-of-age adventure with the grit and unpredictability of a dangerous magical world. Across the multiple books, the saga follows our MC through political intrigue, deadly battles, and ancient powers. The worldbuilding is rich and immersive - from bustling cities to dangerous wildernesses, every setting feels alive, and the magic system adds depth to both the plot and character/s continued development. If you enjoy underdog heroes, epic battles, and a dash of mystery, then you might want to explore these books with their satisfying blend of adventure and emotional stakes. Happy Reading…
I don't know about you but I find that most books with three books in it tend to get boring and the author spends half the book repeating what the last book was about BUT! Not this series. This is the one of the best series that I've read in a while. Normally I don't care for a book with a lot of characters because for me it's hard to remember who the heck everyone is but in these books everyone stands out that it's easy to remember who they are. The author puts the right amount of fighting with building the story so it's not all about the fighting. This is a Wonderful series that I can almost guarantee you will enjoy.
Another great book, and continuing the story. Our hereo has proven himself to be a good kind ruler who does not take advantage of his position to get others to do things he wouldn't.
A exciting story of magic, battles, man vs nature, man vs man, man vs creature.. Still dealing with the loss of his greatest love, and now the possibility of a new love, I am excited to see where the next book takes me.
Also lots of friends This book brought in a lot of characters from other of Robyn’s books I will need to go read them! Excellent story Lots of politics and action! It would be nice if good and bad were black and white They are not These books show all shades of good Very nice!
I likes this book it had a lot of action and was well written . I have read all of the other stoneblood stories and have enjoyed them all. I am looking forward to the next one.
I really love this series, I enjoyed it so very much. I just wish it wasn't so far in between books. The story and characters are so strong you'll fall in love too. I can't wait to see where it goes to next. Great Reading Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really am enjoying the story, BUT........again the writing is not great, words that have no need of being there, names completely wrong and sometimes mixed up. If not for these mistakes the book would have 5 stars.
Written in the same style as early Peter Morwood books, thoroughly enjoyable read leaving you wanting more. Nicely linked 3 book series together, well done Robyn
