The Emperor's New Clothes and Other Nonsense Stories
From nursery tales to tales of adventure, Golden Junior Classics are rich, colorful books that children will love to read again and again. The Emperor's New Clothes is a funny story about the folly of a king who will not admit he has made a mistake. The Three Wishes, while piling absurdity upon absurdity, suggests it is wise to think before you speak. The Master of All Masters says something for plain speaking. It is an old English folk take and was among those collected by Joseph Jacobs.

There were some dark years for The Little Golden Books when the text was too convoluted for the LGB format and the illustrations lacked the whimsical charm that usually is standard in a Little Golden Book.
This book came out of that era.
