I love to garden, write, spend time with family and play outdoors. Most of my days are spent researching articles, recipes and healing products. I am the co-owner of The Pottery Box which is where the majority of my time is spent. I am blessed to be a writer and be able to spend my time with the people I love daily. I mean TRULY blessed.

I love to write. I write almost everyday. Getting the news to people about natural healing methods is, I feel, the purpose of my life. I am a Certified Herbalist, Certified Aromatherapist, Certified Ayurvedic Life Coach, Licensed Yoga Instructor.

I love to cook Ayurveda style recipes for my health and the health of those I love. Trying new vegetarian, gluten free and sugar free recipes is something I try to do several times a week.

Healing with food, essential oils, herbs and remedies from all over the world has prompted my next book " Llewellyn’s Book of Natural Remedies” which is up for pre-order now, and "Alternative Healing Methods for Mind, Emotions and Soul." Hopefully this one will be out in the next 2 years.

I am next going to concentrate on writing and researching books that teach how to heal with your doshas and chakras. Diet, exercise, herbs, oils, attitude, prayer, nature...they all play a part in healing by balancing doshas and chakras.

I feel I can never learn or know enough about healing with Ayurvedic medicine. Writing and researching Ayurveda is at the forefront of my life right now.

I'm familiar with many of the uses for essential oils but have always been under the impression that only a licenced aromatherapy practitioner should be giving out advice on the subject and due to the potential for things to go sideways if the advice is wrong, I still believe that. So, when I read in the opening pages of this book a disclosure clause stating that the author was not qualified in any way I was concerned but decided to continue to see what lay ahead. However, it does state in the author's online biography that she is a certified herbalist and a certified aromatherapist, but why would you say the exact opposite if you are trying to flog a book? Unfortunately, some of the information provided I would deem as quite dangerous whether certified or not. For instance, talk of ingesting the oils scared the living daylights out of me as I know they are for external use only. The recipes also require the oils to be diluted sufficiently, and I feel that the measurements were way off here.

Please, if you're looking for a book to guide you on the use of essential oils make sure the author is qualified enough to be able to supply that kind of information. There are plenty of fantastic ones on the market that are safe and that is the most important thing. This book is a minefield for beginners looking to learn about this topic. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of sound, solid information here, but a novice will not know the difference between sound information and potentially dangerous information.

Many thanks to Llewellyn Publications for an ARC. I was not required to post a review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I’m really not a ‘spiritual’ person but I enjoy using essential oils in a fun and practical way.
This book gives heaps of ideas for using essential oils at home, using delivery methods such as bath bombs, sugar scrubs and lip balms – so actually, it’s a book about making your own cosmetics, which I love.
The recipes are indexed by delivery method and emotional ‘condition’ and are given cute names. I’m all for the ‘Sexual Soak’, the ‘Mellow me out Spray’ and the ‘I’m the Greatest and I know it Rub’ but the ‘Lucky Bath’ and ‘Money Money Bath Salts’ almost stray into witchcraft.
Each essential oil recipe is followed by the instructions on how to make the spritz, ointment, diffuser or whatever – this means these methods are reprinted over and over again. I’d have preferred a separate ‘method’ section , maybe with step-by-step photographs.
There is a little bit of what I (apologetically to those who believe) call ‘mumbo jumbo’ but, as this is a book you can dip into or use as reference, people like me can just skim past it.
A lovely book.

This book isn't really one you read cover to cover, it does give the history of oils and how to use them but still it's full of amazing recipes for essential oils! If you like essential oils, then you'll love this! It's got recipes for depression, anxiety, nightmares, and even paranoia. It's also got other good things as well like passion, love, balance, luck, and peace.

I'm going to share one of my favorites for balance.

It's a bath salt recipe.

6 drops of vetiver oil
6 drops of jasmine oil
6 drops of clary sage oil
2 drops of lavender oil
3 cups of salt
1 tablespoon carrier oil
1 tablespoon of milk

Any salt type is fine to use for this, add all the oils together with the salt and make sure it's well blended. Leave the mixture in a dark area for 24 hours and then stir it again. When ready, add the bath water and the milk and 1/2 cup of your bath salt and there you go! Let the mixture seep into your skin and help you bring balance to your life.

I try to use natural methods for various things whenever possible, so I was excited to read and review this book. There are so many recipes included in this book, and it’s divided into the following sections:

1. Basic Use
2. Chakras and Doshas
3. Recipes for Conditions (which includes things like depression, grief, panic attacks, and worry)
4. Recipes for Emotions (which incudes anxiety, joy, relaxation, and sadness)
5. Recipes for Needs (such as encouragement, grounding, memory, and security)
6. Recipes for Desires (including confidence, luck, peace, and wisdom)

There is an appendix, which includes warning for each essential oil and therapeutic properties of each oil. The author gives ideas for using the oils at home with various methods, such as bath bombs, lip balms, and sugar scrubs. There are detailed instructions for each recipe.

If you’re interested in learning more about essential oils and trying them out, this is a great book to check out.

This book is an excellent resource for essential oil recipes. I think I highlighted 90% of this book, too many recipes to even name a favorite . I liked how the chapters were laid out and the categories were nicely arranged.

I will definitely be making many of these recipes. The only thing I wish were in this book was a substitution list but you can kind of go by the list of oils under that category.

Excellent resource highly recommend!

I thought this was a wonderful introduction to and using essential oils as well as providing plenty of ‘recipes’ and ways to use essential oils for different conditions such as fatigue and forgetfulness. I’m excited about experimenting with the suggestions in this ebook. With thanks to NetGalley and Llewellyn Publications for the opportunity to provide an honest review in exchange for the digital copy.

This seems thorough, but I found it difficult to locate recipes because of the layout of the book. The sections are divided into the following somewhat confusing categories:

Chakras and Doshas
Recipes for Conditions
Recipes for Emotions
Recipes for Needs
Recipes for Desires
Recipes for Devotion

Whaa?

I did like the glossary and reference list. And I really liked the inclusion of two appendices: 'Warnings for Each Essential Oil' and 'Therapeutic Properties of Each Essential Oil.'

This is a great book. It explains how to use essential oils, recipes for making them for health and well-being and what to use them for. I was very interested in what to use for my allergies. I found several things I want to try. It also has the recipes for bath bombs, lip balms, lotions and so many other things. The bath bomb for exhaustion looks amazing. There is just so much in here and it's so in-depth that I will use this frequently as a reference.I received this book from Net Galley and Llewellyn for an honest review and no compensation otherwise.

A well-meaning author that gets the history of aromatherapy and the current safety guidelines a bit turned around. Marketing companies often tout the "essential oils of the bible" line when in fact religious texts refer to plant extracts that were accessible at the time - macerations in animal and vegetable oils, solid incense made from powdered plant materials, and herbal infusions and decoctions.

Current safety guidelines help the consumer to make informed decisions on how long essential oils should be diffused in a room, how much essential oil should make up a topical application, and what kinds of mediums can be used to safely apply essential oils to the body. I found this book lacking in some key areas here that could make a real difference in whether the reader goes on to safely work with essential oils or instead risks overwhelming the respiratory or integumentary systems with these concentrated plant extracts.

I also found the reference to using essential oils instead of pharmaceuticals for mental health challenges disingenuous. Someone with clinical depression or generalized anxiety disorder shouldn't be put in the position to choose between a prescription medication and an essential oil. True holistic practices bridge plant allies with pharmaceutical allies in supporting mental and emotional wellbeing.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my candid review.

There is a lot of unsafe information in this book regarding proper dilution and dispersion of essential oils when it comes to bath use and skin contact with essential oils. Also, certain essential oils have lower dilution ratios than others and are not recommended for use in q bath. I would recommend anyone reading this book do so with caution and ensure you do your own proper research and do not just believe everything written simply because it is a published book. Some of the information in the book is not bad and for the hundreds of recipies, if you know how to change the drops of essential oils, properly dilute and swap out oils that are not safe in certain situations, some of the recipes are alright.

I would not recommend this book to a beginner or even intermediate user of essential oils as the information may be very confusing and unsafe for you.

The author does a great job explaining how essential oils can help with the emotional health. The book starts off explaining how to use oils, their connection to the mind and body, and some safety tips. I have been an oiler for several years so I already knew a lot of the tips. Most of the the basic emotions such as anxiousness, panic, and fear are covered with several recipes to choose from. The recipes are easy to follow but can be expensive depending on where you get your oils and supplies from. This book would make a great resource for anyone who is looking to support their emotional health.

It is interesting going through all the suggestions and recipes in this volume. I picked up a lot of ideas but I think this may not be for the absolute beginner in EO as I still found myself not able to do a lot of the recipes due to my limited (despite my growing collection) number of EO's at my disposal.

Still the introductions and ideas make for interesting reading for anyone interested in EO for emotional wellbeing. Love EO as a support system/part of holistic living.

Ok it took me a while to finish this book but really, you don't finish books like this in one go...

For a new-ish oiler like me, this book is so full of recipes. I'm always on the lookout for good recipes that don't require a lot more oils than there are in my current kit. I kept highlighting and noting down the recipes. So many many recipes! I love that! And not just for roller bottles...which is great. I am definitely going to make some right now.

This book is a keeper!

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this wonderful resource book.

It does what it sets out to do, but it was pretty boring. It helps that it gives tips on not to maim yourself with the various oils and precautions to take, but not by much. Gonna come back to it when certain circumstances arise, some of the emotions feel forced and overlap with one another.

This book is full of great information, is easy to read and understand, and beautiful to look at as well. I like how the recipes are laid out: they're very easy to follow and the explanations and instructions that go along with them are useful and full of great tips. The layout of the chapters makes the book easy to use as a reference guide for whatever specific need one has.

The back of the book also includes a useful glossary of terms, and a list of warnings for each essential oil, which is very useful for beginners who may not be aware of how powerful some oils can be.

Because of the huge list of ready-to-use recipes and the variety of recipe types (from foot-rubs to lip balms), this book would make a great addition to the reference shelf of anyone interested in aromatherapy and essential oils.

This is a latest crave for people to make their own cream, lotions, perfumes, lip balm, soaps… and this book provides a big selection of recipes.
It has been established that our senses and emotions are directly related to the smells around us, and are even more engaged when the smells come from highly concentrated and potent essential oils. Nothing new really.

There is a plethora of books on Essential Oils on the market right now and I simply fail to see what this particular book is adding.
But if one has to start somewhere then this book could be a good introduction.

many thanks to Llewellyn Publications and Vannoy Gentles Fite for this ARC in exchange for a honest opinion.
