This is a great book, the kind of book I wish was available when I was 13. It gentally touches on subjects including family, heartbreak, body image and sexual health amongst others with kindness, humour and lack of judgement; like finding the perfect friend within a book.
It can be difficult navigating your way through those teen years, I shudder at the memories. Not all teens have a supportive and loving family guiding them along the way and teaching them those valuable life lessons. Some of those burning questions that teens may have but may be afraid to ask could be found in here. I think this book should be available in all school libraries. This book could also be used by parents to start conversations with their kids.
I really enjoyed this down to earth read, Gemma tackles all taboo subjects from intricate details about all aspects of periods, bullying, body hat, image, friendship, relationships, abuse, sex, abortion, rape and more!
All the tough hard hitting topics raised in one makes this book a sort of haven for teens and a sort of rule book to life and it refreshes how you should be and not just be following things online as you think you should.
Of course it also has the relevant information on hand to seek help should anyone reading need it
I wish I had a book like this growing up; like all the problem pages of Just 17 meshed together but more sagacious, more relevant, and less flinching. A kind companion for teenage-dom and a few more years afterwards.
