Ugh. I keep doing this to myself. I see a crochet book that sounds interesting and buy it online without having looked at it only to be disappointed. This book contains simple patterns for 6 scarves, 5 bags, a basket, 2 throws, a rug, and 4 cushions. I don't like any of them. (The image on the cover turns out to be a close-up of one of the bags.) There are some tips about using large hooks, but not worth the cost of the book. Sigh.
Such a fun book on crocheting with a big hook. I liked the, rather basic, projects and wished there were more adventurous pieces included but the author gives a good glance as to what can be done on such a large scale. Unfortunately, several pieces aren't shown in their entirety, but those detail shots are sure dramatic. I like working this way but haven't done any of the projects in this book exactly.
This pattern book is a bit awkward, as the layout is focused on artistic close up images of the finished projects, rather than with enough distance for me to actually envision the whole design and the size of the piece.
Because I could only see the details, I took more liberties with colors and size than I usually would until I've followed a pattern as-is at least once. Flexibility is what I like about crocheting, though, so I've been pleased with my finished projects.
This is a fun crochet book, showing how to crochet non-traditional materials (fabric, twine). It has a nice descriptive segment in the beginning, along with good crochet technique photos. I will come back to this for patterns when I am a more accomplished crocheter
This is the book that showed me you can make really great stuff with assorted leftover yarn, thus freeing me from the compulsion to buy all of the yarn to make sure I have enough of the same dyelot to make whatever Future Me will decide to make.
