Easily the best resource I've encountered yet. The author is extremely thorough, covering everything from what tools/brands to use, lettering techniques, watercolor, various effects, etc. The practice areas are few and far between, which is part of why I love this book. It's 200 pages chock-full of lettering techniques and examples. I constantly reference this book and would HIGHLY recommend. It's explanatory enough for beginner's, but you would benefit more if you have some experience in lettering.
