From Hugo and Dragon Award finalist David VanDyke, and million-selling science-fiction legend and Dragon finalist B.V. Larson, comes book three in the epic military space opera adventure saga! Commodore Straker faces new enemies as neighboring interstellar empires decide his New Republic is a growing threat. A two-front war develops, and the Liberator must face both the Mutuality and the Hundred Worlds. Even as the fighting rages, the mysterious Opters are on the move. They make a diplomatic effort to reach out to Straker—but can he trust the Hive Masters? Will they help, or stab him in the back? FLAGSHIP VICTORY is a thrilling tale of warfare and adventure among the stars. This is the third book in the Galactic Liberation series, look for book #1, STARSHIP LIBERATOR if you’re new to this expanding universe.
David VanDyke is a former Army Airborne soldier and later, an Air Force officer. He lives in the Tucson area with his wife and three dogs. Look him up at davidvandykeauthor.com
This book, with a whole new set of ideas and leads that can be further developed in the Liberator universe. The story flows fast, and the space action is superb.
Arg! This is not a trilogy :( Very enjoyable, but I thought I had started reading a completed series (Goodreads has no mention of a book 4). Alas, the story arc still has a ways to go . At least the authors were professional enough not to stick us with cliffhanger endings. Each book in the series solves the challenge at hand, while letting you know where the next one is heading. I'm eager for the next installment.
David VanDyke ad B.V. Larson have teamed up for yet another winner. I've read all that both authors have offered, and this is yet another that doesn't disappoint.
Straker and Engels are thoroughly enjoyable characters who you want to get to know more about. There are so many things happening in this chapter of the series, that you know there are many more books on the way to explain everything. I'm not sure how they will defeat the Opters, when it seems that there are so many of them, and the technology they have is beyond compare.
I can't wait for the next in the series so some of my questions get answered.
I honestly get why this has been so well reviewed by others; after all, the ambitious story tackles important questions about reality, ethics and morality in an expansive adventure which is often fun.
Sadly though, I just found the philosophising clunky and derivative; and, dare I say, unoriginal. Yes, there’s much to like, but, arguably, too much. This book tries to be too many things and ends up paying scant lip service to many of the concepts it abortively launches. I never really felt it found its purpose. Ultimately, it left me feeling unsatisfied and underwhelmed.

While not the deepest of story lines, this book kept me entertained and wanting for more. Of the books in this series, I probably liked this one the most as it had more complex/ thought provoking subject matter. I would highly recommend this book for some one looking for a great quick read.
Books one and two were great - filled with the kind of action I enjoy and characters I found intriguing and likeable. Book three - not so much. It really went off the deep end into a situation that was so unbelievable as to be into la-la land. I might try book four, hoping the authors got back to the form of one and two. Maybe.
Fast paced from start to end...covers the human condition well explains the story both historically, and in context, where its going. Awesome protagonists...awesome heroes and heroines. Page burner start to finish.
Good genuine action, well plan and executed story of humanity fight for freedom from themselves even though they are manipulated by Others, just show the Gullibility of man, also his undefitabled spirit! Looking forward to the continued series
Wow wow wow, it’s been awhile since I rate anyone 5 stars. I bought the next book when I started the last chapter of this book. I know my review may not be useful to some people but this is Mark Boyett best voice work and the authors make a great team.
Tedious bumpkin beyond belief. Contrived, obtuse, and referencing ancient Rome, bows and arrows, slingshots...really? That original. Battle mechanations, tedious beyond belief. Shudder. Glad I am out of here.
Nothing sophisticated, just an interesting, imaginative space adventure with intriguing characters. Escapist Sci-fi that doesn't strain the brain but also doesn't insult your intelligence. I'm reading all of his series of books.
I gave it four stars because it lost me for awhile, it was boring. Then the action started and it got interesting again. I hope the next one will be better.
This is one of those series that got me curious and then got me hooked. It does flow very well but the third book has a loose end that is too conveniently tied up.
