I have been waiting for this story almost from Book 1 when we first meet the pirate, Captain Jack Morgan. I knew for sure we'd see h8im again when he showed up in the Duke of Weston's family portrait gallery. Captain Morgan fell into the future just in time to save the king from a highwayman. As a reward he is named a Duke. I love the way, Dawn Brower brings his story together with that of the Kendall family. This is a family familiar with time travel since Jack had been chasing the current Duke's mother-in-law before she traveled through to the present while her adopted daughter Alys traveled to the past to meet and fall in love with the Duke. Hearing her grandmother's stories since childhood, Elizabeth has been in love with the Captain from her grandmother's stories - how could she not fall in love when she found out he was here in real life. I received an advanced copy of the is book in return for an honest review.
BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY !!!! I have read and reread this book. I enjoyed it so much that I have downloaded it again to my Kindle to read on vacation one more time. I do not know what I was expecting from this particular book as the others have been wonderful. But I will say that this one was sweet, funny, captivating and just so wonderfully enjoyable that it was difficult to put down. This author just keeps getting better and I am now looking forward to the next book from her! If you want a read that has so many different elements in it as well as romance, this is one that you definitely wish to buy. I was given this book in return for an honest review. Anna Swedenmom
I'm finding the audiobooks in this Linked Across Time series such fun to listen to! Sometimes, it is a bit hard to follow all the twists and terms of the multi-century time-travel relationships, but that does not detract from the enjoyment of the well-crafted stories. In this novella, when the heroine is young, she has visions of the hero as a pirate, seen in a mirror. It feels so very real to her, as if she is watching someone's life, not just her own imaginings. Some years later, she is stunned when she sees a man looking just like the one in the mirror in real life. Soon, she discovers he is a time traveler, like her mother. Unlike her mother, he comes from the past. She's loved the idea of him since she was 12, and seeing him in real life is like the fulfillment of a dream. He knows he has done misdeeds in the past and in no way believes he would be a good match for her—and, of course, has decided not to marry (Why does every historical hero and heroine always have to have that as part of their characters? Just not realistic … and way overdone as a trope!)—and believes there to be a familial relationship to prevent it. Watching them together is so much fun. Their interactions sparkle and sizzle. I loved how the hero was when he finally had a long discussion with the heroine's mother. The chess game was inspired and made me chuckle. I loved all the references to Jane Austen and especially to Pride & Prejudice, one of my favorite books! The hero read them at the suggestion of the heroine. At first, the book annoyed him, but he soon comes to appreciate it. He even uses one of Darcy's great lines at a perfect moment. A delightful listen (or read) in a wonderful series.
I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.
So, this was about Jack, a pirate, who went forward in time BUT only from the 18th century to the 19th century. AND having seen Jack in a mirror when she was 12 years old Elizabeth knew she had been waiting for him all those years. She just had to convince Jack but Jack wasn’t listening because he thought they were related. It was quite funny until Jack talked to Alys, Elizabeth’s mother who dropped into the 19th century from the 21st. After Jack and Alys’s talk everything was alright with Jack to pursue Elizabeth.
So, Alys went over a cliff. And so did Eve. Callista went over a balcony, Jack was lost in a storm, Regina showed up at the Weston Estate to look for her sister Alys and ran into her ex-husband who was looking for the love of his life, who also disappeared. And on and on it goes.
Now, Jack and Elizabeth are married and she and Jack are standing in front of a mirror and she touches it and her hand goes right through it.
Now I’m off to read the story I’ve been looking forward to: The story Trenton and Eve. AND it'll probably have something to do with a mirror, or one of the stories will, anyway.
There was somewhat explicit sex in this story and the F-bomb was not used in this one.
As to the narration: Duchess DeFoix was a little over dramatic in parts but her men sounded like men and that’s what’s important.
I've enjoyed many stories by Dawn, and really am not a fan of time travel stories, but this may change my mind. The time travel worked well, and really was a small part of the story. The H had years to digest what happened to him by the time he meets the h. But, the h met him when she was 12 through a mirror.
The h has spirit, is smart and understands about time travel through a relative. So when she meets the H she is already in love.
I can't wait to research to see if her brother's have their own stories. There isn't lovemaking, but their is one act of foreplay prior to marriage. Heat level 3.5 out of 5 if that and quickly described.
We have an interesting story that unfolds at just the right pace. No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, small tad of spice and romance.
I can't improve on the blurb, just recommending this story. (ljb)

Having a Mother from another century with enlighted views was a great education. Also stories about her grandmother and the childhood stories told were amazing. Then a daughter at a party met her mothers Captain Jack a famous pirate and realised he had fallen into her century as well. She had dreamed about him since she was a young girl. These time travel story are fun to read.
This is another good addition to the "Linked Across Time" series. It is a stand alone read/listen that develops nicely. It is fairly short and quick with likable characters and an enjoyable plot. The narrator did a good job bring the characters and their story to life. This is a time travel romance with a pirate that becomes a duke and a grandmother's story. The story is about Jack and Elizabeth. It is whimsical, sweet, fun and captivating.
This was another great addition to the series. Dawn Brower has provided us with endearing characters and an engaging story line. Duchess DeFoix has done a great job in bringing the story to life and making this a fun listen.
I received a copy of this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Omg absolutely wonderful storyline! I am so in love with these books and characters. They are way to short for me. I wanted this to keep going! Great writing style.
What it would have been like to hear a beloved story of a tale from your mother only to find out it isn’t a tale but a true story. To one day look in the mirror and see that handsome devil the story is based on, even better to find time tavel has you meet and fall in love with the handsome devil. This is a wonderful story that just reaches in to your soul grabbing your attention and making you fall in love with a pirate out of his own time twisted into another time making a wonderful life for his self and finding the one person who turns his world upside down. It is so very easy to picture this as a delightful movie that would become a classic in no time.
I have mixed feelings about the narration, oh I feel she did a great job but her normal voice is just to cheery for me. I can hear the sun shine when I think it might have been a little better if it wasn’t shinning so loud. Her character voices are wonderful both male and female are great, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. She can really pull out the emotions of each character as she brings the story to life. There are no repeating of words, no volume change and no background noise. She does have a pleasant normal voice it just isn’t one that sounds natural to me, I can’t imagine talking to someone who is so cheery, and it just seem forced. Besides that I think it was a great audio, it is very clear and clean.
The one thing I really like about this author is she gives such wonderful delightful characters you can relate to. Even though Jack was in an earlier book you don’t feel lost if you haven’t read it. Yes you have a few questions but the author fills that in well that you can read this as a standalone. I do have to say it does make you want to read the other book to find out a little more about him but it is not needed. There is no doubt I love Jack and all he stands for but Elizabeth and her mother stole myh heart as well. I loved how time travel has show this family the newer ways of life that women don’t need a man and should not be forced into marriage. I loved how her parents made plans for her that should she choose not to marry she will be able to take care of herself. It is great how she stands up and tells it like it is, she is very intelligent just a lovely all around person.
I loved this plot as well as the characters, I find time travel so amazing and have to wonder if it is really out there. I know this is one author that makes me believe it is. The author gives you a tale of one man traveling more to the future which adds a little mystery to it. I really loved how Elizabeth was telling the tale and saw the handsome man in the mirror when she was young, then years later she meets him. There is mystery around him and the story of his tale. I thought the author really put some time and thought into the writing of this book writing in a way that pulls the reader in giving a story that touches your soul making you just feel at peace watching these two with their cat and mouse game. The buildup of the romance was delightful as well as the few twists and turns the author gives. We first meet Captain Jack in a past book he really took my breath a way then but not as much as he does now. The reader had mixed feeling in the past book wanting him to come out the winner of the ladies hand. I felt sorry for him and was so glad he got his own story that is more touching than the last book he was in. They say everything happens for a reason which this author has shown. It wasn’t his time for love there was a strong love waiting for him and so worth the wait.
For me this was a great read with a touching romance that I totally enjoyed and got lost in. I loved the mystery and the twists and turns which I found to be exciting.
Jack wakes up after a fall through time to save the king annnd his mistress soooo the king gives the stranger a title but no lands. Jack is in England time trying to figure out what to do and maybe how to get back to his time and life. He knows that getting an invite to the 2 week ball is probably going to drive him nuts. Having a title means young married minded woman will be looking for a husband. That is not in Jack’s cards.
Elizabeth knows alllll about time travel given that her grandmother and mother both did it. Her grandmother escaped Captain Jack and her mother fell through time to marry her father. She has seen visions of Jack but always thought they were her imagination running wild and never really thought that she was seeing the real man.
When they meet unexpectedly at the library, the chemistry was awesome. They both are intrigued and want to know more. When Jack tells Elizabeth his name and then tells her who she is…..Que plot twist….the two can’t be together!! GASP!!
When Jack talks to Alys all about her life, time travel and he learns all is not what he thought so he runs to find and claim his Elizabeth much like Mr. Darcy in the book he is reading!!
Lady Elizabeth Kendall and her young brothers knew by heart the story of Captain Jack by heart, as it was a story told to them by their mother and their grandmother to their mother. It was when Elizabeth was 12 years old that to keep her brothers entertained and out of mischief that she story them the story once again. While telling the story to her brothers she found herself staring at the mirror, which suddenly fogged up and she saw imagines of Captain Jack, his crew and a woman aboard the pirate ship. Shocked as she was, she thought it was her imagination but told no one about it. It was later that day, that her mother told her about time travel. Several years later, at a house party and much to her surprise, there before her was Captain Jack, who had mysteriously moved forward in time. Thus begin a love story of two strong-headed people. This is a sweet story and enjoyable. Whether you wish to read it or listen to it by audiobook, you will enjoy the tale of these two people.
Who couldn't love a book where the hero is Captain Jack Morgan? This one is especially delightful! I was instantly drawn into the book while reading the prologue. From there, I just kept flipping the pages until The End. There are so many wonderful moments in this book with the time travel, references to Jane Austin and Pride and Prejudice and of course, the pirate. While Jack is a worthy hero, Elizabeth is adorable. I loved that she knew about her mother's past, or should I say future, and she felt a sense of independence from that knowledge. The time travel is well done and very believable. While this is part of a series, the book can easily be read as a standalone. Although, if you start with this one, I encourage you to go back to the beginning where it all began. I look forward to the next book, which Ms. Brower provided a teaser for at the end of this book. I received an ARC of this book. The choice to read and review it was all mine.
Big fan of Dawn Brower here! With this series, I’ve only listened to (audiobooks) books 5 and 6. On that note, both could have been stand-alone. I liked that because Elizabeth’s mother had been from the future (went to the past) she was able to raise her daughter differently than what was typical of this time period. I also liked the twist between Jack and Elizabeth. When he believes that the two are related, I was curious as to how Ms. Brower would turn their relationship into something positive considering the two cared about each other but, had they been related, in an inappropriate way.
The narrator, whom I've never listened to, did a good job. Although there were some characters (the butler comes to mind) who had the same voice as the narrating one, she was able to provide a different voice for each character.
In the end, I’m always on the lookout for more stories by Dawn Brower. She’s a great writer!
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.
This is a regency romance with a time travel element [which is a very minor part of the story]. I have not read any of this author's previous works - but from reading some of the reviews, I got the sense that some of these characters come from other stories. Perhaps if I had read those other stories, I would have enjoyed this one more. I found the story full of information dumps [which are likely the stories from her previous works] - where characters spend a lot of time recounting events. The mother of MC Lady Elizabeth is from the 20th Century - and she uses terms/language from that time period, even though she now lives hundreds of years in the past - I found this a bit jarring and odd that everyone understood her given that would not be the language of the time.
The narrator, Duchess DeFoix, did a nice job and her voice is enjoyable to listen to.
I normally don’t like books that involve time travel, but the prologue in this one hooked me and I liked it a lot. I really liked the whole story and the bits of back story to make everything more understandable. This has a fairytale romance feel which I’m always up for. I loved the way they interacted with each other and the little twists. I wished it was longer because I kept wanting to read more.
Elizabeth is definitely my kind of heroine. She is bold and speaks her mind no matter what. I loved her when she was trying not to roll her eyes and that she didn’t back down from what she wanted.
Jack is also bold and speaks his mind. I loved him when he told his tale and realized connections between them. He knew what he wanted and was quick to make it happen without anyone knowing what he was doing.
This 6th book wasn’t the story I was hoping for, but know when we finally get Trenton and Eve’s story it’ll be worth waiting for. I have not read her first book of the series that this Captain appears in, but I think that the prologue does a good job of giving us a brief summary. I definitely wasn’t expecting this story to be about Alys’s daughter. Definitely a surprise And I wish I had read the first book before this one. There is mug I feel that I would understand better about the interactions. However, all that aside, I really did enjoy this book. It built a lot on the past and gave hints to the future.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
She grew up with stories of a different time and handsome heroes. Lady Elizabeth sees a pirate in a mirror and begins to wonder if time travel is possible. Jackerson is that pirate and a duke, he has a secret from a different time. Then they meet. Now it becomes interesting to see what happens.
This is a time travel historical romance with danger and pirates. The characters are so good they pop off the page and draw you into their tale. They are both adventitious and their lives are filled with drama. It was a story full of excitement and suspense. This is a great historical romance and action adventure.
I feel this is the best book in the series yet. I was enthralled from the beginning. Page after page the excitement and intrigue could be felt. I loved all the characters. The main female lead seemed a little spoiled, calculating and demanding however she had a heart that was full of love and kindness. The lead male character is definitely swoon worthy. Even though this is a quick read I found it completely satisfying my romance needs. I do recommend this book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout in the set "Linked Across Time: Volume Two" and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book has a great storyline. The author handles the time travel very well and I really connected with the story. I really liked the characters and the romance is great. You really feel the chemistry between them.
This is one of my favorite stories of this series. I waited forever to get Jack's story. I was not disappointed at all I love these two and I love there story. They mesh together so well. She is strong where he is weak and vice versa a great mix.
This is the sixth book in the Linked Across Time, a time travel romance/historical romance/pirate story. The storyline is original, fun, and captivating. Duchess DeFoix did a great job with the narration. Her voice fits perfectly the story. I enjoyed it!
