Can a burnt-out attorney turn his friends-with-benefits relationship with a fiery redheaded shrink into something more when she finds herself unexpectedly pregnant?

Dr. Margaret James is a successful psychologist in the small town of Oak Grove, PA. After growing up with two absent parents, she sees no need for a family or children. She’s happy and independent and likes it that way. She even enjoys the friends-with-benefits relationship she has with Philadelphia lawyer Michael Bennett.

After his dreams for making partner at his big city law firm are shattered, Michael Bennett packs up, buys out a retiring attorney’s practice in his hometown, and moves home. He’s looking forward to the slower pace of life in Oak Grove and interested in reigniting his relationship with fiery Maggie James.

An unexpected pregnancy throws Maggie for a loop. She doesn’t know how to be a mother. Hell, she can barely take care of herself. Enter Michael, who wants to take care of her and the baby. Is she willing to give up some of her independence at a chance for love and the family she’s never had? Will Michael be able to overcome her objections?

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book.**

My favorite of the series!

Michael is the brother who has always known what he wanted out of life. Becoming a partner at a prestigious city law firm was the plan. But when that fell through, he found himself moving back home and taking over a smaller practice. His family is thrilled to have him home but there is one person in particular that he is happy to be able to spend more time with.

Maggie has had a friends-with-benefits relationship with Michael for a while now. She doesn't have the time or inclination to date because her psychiatry practice keeps her busy. Yet, she always makes time for Michael when he's in town. So his move should be a good thing, right?

Unfortunately, there is a minor complication of the 9-month gestation type. With a baby on the way, Michael knows he has to do the honorable thing. But convincing Maggie to give up her independence and put her trust in him is harder than he thought it would be. The pair will have to brave hormones, pregnancy complications, and communication troubles if they stand a chance at making this work.

This book started out with a bang!

I have to be honest and tell you that I've always found Michael to be the boring brother of the group. He hasn't ever really impressed me and that's probably because we rarely see him due to his life being outside of Oak Grove. And when we did catch a scene with him in it, he was always a sort of bland character to me. Boy, was I wrong!

From the first chapter, we are thrown right into the middle of Michael and Maggie's passionate ongoing fling. I say 'fling' because it isn't a relationship and it's not even happening regularly. So when Maggie discovers she's pregnant, she is thrown for a loop. I could clearly see her struggle to come to terms with what was happening and trying to figure out how to go forward.

That's when Michael surprised me the most. He really stepped up and my respect for his character tripled in just one chapter. Then it just continued to grow. Despite the obstacles thrown at him--and there were several--he kept his cool and tried to do what he thought was best for Maggie and his unborn baby. It might not have always been what Maggie wanted though.

Maggie was a character I struggled to like as the story went on. From the beginning, she was fiercely independent and I can respect that. But man, those preggo hormones did a number on her. I've had four children myself, so I understand how scared she was. Her attitude did rub me the wrong way at times but she usually made up for it shortly after.

The romance starts off spicy and then it turns sweet. I was fine with that. The author gives us both sides of the coin with this relationship. There is definitely an attraction between our couple and passionate chemistry. But as the book progressed, we see our pair begin to have emotions for each other and the romance changes to thoughtful 'actions' rather than naughty 'action'. I enjoyed watching this pair fall in love.

In closing...
That's the last of these siblings (I think), so I wonder who in Oak Grove will be next to find their match. I wonder if this new therapist that's coming to town might just have her story told soon. Or maybe Tony? I can't remember if he was already paired up or not. Either way, I hope there's more to come! Five suns!

I have said this before, and I gladly repeat this - I love the Bennett family, the bond they have, the support they give to each other, and the way they are ready to razz each other when ever the opportunity arises. The love in the family, and in between their significant others is a tangible force.
The story has a natural flow and the events move forward with a smooth tempo, holding the interest to the tale, and possibly keeping the reader up late at night. What I love most about the author's voice and style is how she is not afraid to go deep, to dig in to get those earth shattering emotions and feelings most of us hide and deal with those issues and fears we would rather shelter from others.
The story has some amazing, scorching hot chemistry going on, and the prologue gives us a taste of the heat between the protagonists. Yet the story goes so much deeper than the physical attraction and connection.
Dr. Margaret James and Michael Bennett will have to face their deepest fears of commitment, relationships, parenting, and love. The road to their happily ever after is a rocky road, the friction seems to escalate as the pregnancy moves on, and their feelings come part of the equation. Maggie's battle with her feelings, accepting the pregnancy, and accepting Michael, got to a point where I got a bit uncomfortable. I understand the waves of hormones she was under, but there was a moment where I really had to take a moment and evaluate my understanding of Maggie and where she was coming from.
The story has a very realistic, life-like conflicts and issues, things that most can easily relate to and connect to from their own lives. The characters are very distinguished with their characteristics, people you want to get to know better and spend time with.
The Oak Grove series and the Bennett family have found a place in my heart for sure! What a treasure these stories are, each hitting a painful, fragile issues we face in life, and dealing with the wounds with love and care.
A wonderful, heartfelt, sexy story about learning to love - as a partner for life, as a parent, as a member of a family, as a sibling, and as a child.

One Last Objection (Oak Grove) by Nancy Stopper
This time around Ms. Stopper leaves the danger behind and speaks to the emotional side of love. One Last Objection tackles how life's little surprises, can prove the best reward. Michael and Maggie are friends with benefits.  When an unplanned pregnancy rocks their world, will it topple their relationship or turn it into something more?  Through the anxiety, tears and laughter, an unbreakable bond starts to form and a love they never hoped for, may just be on the horizon.  Nancy Stopper is a romantic at heart and One Last Objection reminds readers of that fact.

After Rachel's book, I didn't think that Michael's book would have such an impact - but wow! was I wrong.
There is a lot that happens in this book, and Michael changes his life in more ways than one. I don't want to say too much in case I give away spoilers, but it is a really good read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you enjoy small town romances, then this series is for you.

Another great story in the Oak Grove series! I've loved watching all of the Bennett family members find their HEAs and One Last Objection, the latest in the series, does not disappoint! Although it can be read as a standalone, it was great to see how the others in the family are doing.

This is Michael and Maggie's story. And again, what I find refreshing about all of the stories in this series is that the characters are very realistically portrayed - they are far from perfect, have their own insecurities and do not lead perfect, neat lives. In other words, they could be just like people you know!

Michael, a successful lawyer, is a planner. When faced with the unknown, he wants to analyze it from every angle, make a list and then make (in his opinion) logical decisions based on his findings. With Maggie's unexpected pregnancy, this is exactly where he begins...this is NOT the way Maggie looks at her situation at all.

Maggie, on the other hand, is pretty much basing her actions on her emotions - a very different process than Michael's. She objects to almost everything Michael offers in the way of help and plans for their future. She desperately wants to continue to be independent and rely only on herself as she has been doing from an early age. Michael has an uphill battle here - Maggie has a lot of baggage to overcome - can they make this work together? You will enjoy their heartfelt journey!

I received a complimentary copy of this book and have volunteered to leave an honest review.

I loved, loved, loved One Last Objection by Nancy Stopper, the fourth book in her Oak Grove series. This is the story of lawyer Michael Bennett and psychologist Dr. Maggie James. Michael moves back to Oak Grove to start his own law practice and tries to convince Maggie that they should get married after finding out she is pregnant. Maggie has a number of trust and family issues to overcome, which is interesting since she counsels people with a variety of concerns, personal and relationship-wise. This situation changes the dynamics of the friends-with-benefits relationship these two have had.

It was fun seeing the changes in Maggie throughout the book; going from denial and fear to thinking she could do it all alone to seeing how normal families work out their relationships. Michael was a rock throughout this story, trying to convince Maggie that they were good for each other and together. Michael’s family stood together in support of both Maggie and Michael, if only Maggie would accept it.

I really loved reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. Ms. Stopper wove a wonderful story, with lots of humor, charm and smexy. She drew me in and did not let go until I turned the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

First, I would like to thank Nancy Stopper for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

One Last Objection by Nancy Stopper is book 4 in the Oak Grove Series. This can be read as a Standalone. However, past characters from previous books show up in this book. For example, we learn in this book that Rachel broke up with Shane (thank God for that) and is now dating Sawyer! He has been so supportive in this book! Joey and Brittney are still together and doing well. However, Joey is having a hard time dealing with a family matter he just found out about.

Out of all the books in the series this was by far my favorite book out of all of them. I really enjoyed reading Michael and Maggie’s story and how it all unfolded. From the first scene they were in Nancy had you hooked! So many ups, downs, and twists and turns with that relationship. I was so happy for Maggie but I felt that Michael was putting it on way too thick. I didn’t blame her for getting PIH after dealing with everything she was going through.

Rachel’s situation pulled on my heart strings a little bit by learning more about birth Dad and that she had another family. However, I felt for her family that raised her as well. It was a complicated situation. But I could understand why Rachel would want to know her sisters and brother.

One Last Objection is the fourth book in the Oak Grove series. I’ve read the first book, but not books two and three. Each one is a stand-alone and you will have no trouble following any of the books without reading the others. However, I have to say that the Bennett family is worth getting to know.

Michael is the second oldest of the Bennett brothers. He’s always known what he wanted in life and has pursued it relentlessly. He has devoted his life to making partner at one of the most prestigious law firms in Philly. Maggie is much like Michael in that she has devoted her life to her career. She comes from a privileged background, but like so many who do it wasn’t all sunshine and roses. She was neglected by her parents and raised by nannies. Of course, this has led to many issues. It also led her to her career as a family counselor. Ironic, huh?

An unplanned pregnancy causes both of them to reassess their careers and what is truly important in life. Michael is much better at this than Maggie, but then he’s had unconditional support from his family throughout his life. Maggie uses her background as an excuse to stay stagnant and in denial. She was borderline selfish in her refusal to get over herself. I did really enjoy getting the latest on the Bennett family, though. They remain one of my faves!

This has been my favorite book in the Oak Grove series. From the first page to the last, I loved the book. Maggie, Dr. Margaret James, was an awesome person who thinks I can do it myself person comes up with a difficult dilemma. .After a unsettling childhood, she has learned to trust only herself to get anything done. Love and marriage was something that didn’t really exist.
Maggie is a successful psychologist with a great practice and not willing to be in a “loving” relationship. But she does have a friends with benefits with Michael Bennett and they end up pregnant.

Now things have changed with Michael. They are having a baby!. Not what she planned for and she and Michael are not really in love.. Michael wants to make it legit but Maggie is against being married due to her experience during her childhood. Her mom and dad didn’t have a loving relationship and why should she. But after going through her pregnancy she realized the may Michael is more than just a friends with benefits. Maybe it’s time for her to realize that Michael loves her just the way she it. After all Michael’s family is full of love and that’s what she’s missing.

What a beautiful story. I love happy ever after.

This book could have been a 5 except for …

I love a friends to lovers tale, which is why One Last Objection by Nancy Stopper held such promise. Sadly, I was put off by the vulgar language and explicit sex.

I really liked Maggie and Micheal's story. They are friends with benefits, then Maggie accidentally gets pregnant. He wants to marry, but she doesn't. The remainder of the book is about their relationship journey that leads to their happy-ever-after.

The writing was good, as was the story. I liked and even understood the characters, flaws and all. The supporting characters also added to the sweetness and story depth. But, as I mentioned, the swearing, vulgarities and explicit sex just left me cold. I have read books by other writers that conveyed passion without porn, and conveyed thoughts without vulgarities. Thankfully, the ending moved this book up from a 3 to a 4. I wish I could have given it a 5.

When I thought this series could not get any more emotional and heart-warming Nancy gives just this great moving story of two workaholics. This is the fourth book in the Oak Grove Series in which we have to meet the other 3 siblings of the Bennet family. Last is Michael Bennett this attorney that lives in Philly and has been trying to make a partner for the last 3 books. Unbeknownst to his family and us, he has been having friends with benefits relationship with the town’s psychologist Dr. Margaret James Maggie. If you have not read this series I highly recommend that you do as they will give you that heartwarming and happy feeling when you finish one of these books and you will fall in love with the characters this great author bring to us. I received a copy of this book and have voluntarily written an honest review.

For Michael Bennett an objection is not what he wants to here, especially from Maggie. After being "friends with benefits" for 18 months now that they will live in the same city he wants to make it more. He has to convince Maggie to take a chance on him even if they're not in love, they're not right? I love this little town where everyone knows everyone. This great big growing family is so tightly knit but also complicated. I love that Maggie is 35, a professional, and a hot mess. Poor Michael is such a good man, but he has to keep many secrets not only his. This story telling draws you into their lives and emotions and the HEA just makes your day.

Maggie may think she controls her world, but some times you have to let go...

A passionate, sweet and delightful romance!

One Last Objection is an inspiring story full of romance, passion and emotion. There is just enough action and romance throughout to keep my interest piqued. Nancy Stopper does a fantastic job of creating characters that are engaging and well developed while intertwining the different characters throughout each book of the series. I really appreciate and like that the characters in the books are realistic with their flaws, imperfections, insecurities, and problems just as a normal “real” person has.

This is one of several books that I have read by Nancy Stopper and will certainly not be my last. I was not disappointed at all. I recommend any book in the Oak Grove series if you enjoy being entertained with passionate romance.

Loved this book!!! It was wonderful reading Michael and Maggie's story. Maggie, even though she is a psychologist, has a lot of hang ups from her parents. She has no intentions of being in a long term relationship. Her friends with benefits with Michael suits her just fine until suddenly she discovers she's pregnant. She doesn't even want to tell Michael until he accidentally finds out. He then wants to make their relationship permanent but she fights him at every turn because she doesn't want someone else in control of her life. This is a beautiful love story of how two people learn to love and live with each other. I have enjoyed every single one of the books in this series and I look forward to more books by Nancy Stopper.

Ok Romance

Maggie and Michael are occasional, friends with benefits. This all changes when Maggie gets pregnant and Michael moves back to their hometown. Both are successful professionals but neither had planned for a baby or family. Michael is all in to get married but Maggie, not so much. Between the two lovers learning more about each other and Maggie dealing with a rough pregnancy, their courtship is a bit rough.

What I liked:
*Older adult love story.
*Michael is cute in his efforts to get Maggie to marry him.
*Lots of secondary stories since book is part of a series.

What I disliked:
*Maggie was a bitch. A woman can be professional without losing her independence. In the story, it was her way or no way.

Michael and Maggie have had a no strings attached relationship when Maggie discovers she is pregnant. Until Michael comes back to Oak Grove, she had planned to handle her unexpected pregnancy on her own. Her independence is very important to her. Michael wants to handle everything for Maggie and take care of her and the baby. Can they each let go of their past to make a new life together for their baby? Will they realize their was more to their "no strings" relationship? I enjoy Nancy Stopper's mix of steam and romance. It took me a little longer to like and understand Maggie but I found myself rooting for the HEA at the end and enjoyed this addition to the Oak Grove series.

Nancy Stopper's Oak Grove series is a treat! This book is about the last Bennett single brother, Michael, an outstanding attorney that gives up his high-profile life in the big city to take over a family style Law Firm in his city Oak Grove.

Michael and Maggie, his sister's counselor, are having a no-string relationship for months. She is independent, strong and does not know how to handle a real relationship. Then, they are both faced with a surprise! Maggie is pregnant and they must deal with this new life together.

It is a wonderful treat to read a story so full of feelings. Nancy Stopper is a delicate voice of these characters. Indeed, a series to follow and enjoy!

I am really enjoying this Oak Grove series, I have started with book one being a freebie off kindle and have been hooked ever since. I love each story told and how each book is connected thus far. I highly suggest you read each book one after the other and not skip, trust me, you will want to.

As much as I enjoyed each character from each book, this one was not one of my favorites, as you can tell by the length it took me to read it. Please, do not get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but it took me a few chapters in to really get to the point of not wanting to put it down. I honestly could not connect with the newest character right away.

I look forward to the next book, 5!

This is a story of life not always working out the way we expect it to.

Michael and Maggie are two busy professionals committed to being single, friends with benefits and no time or desire for anything more. Michael Bennet left Oak Grove and moved to Philly to practice law. He has spent months working long, demanding hours expecting to make partner in the firm. Dr. Maggie James is a strong, independent woman who moved to Oak Grove to practice psychology in her own clinic. With their busy schedules (and a bit of attitude from Maggie) there hasn't been any communication between them for twelve weeks until they bump into each other on the street in Oak Grove. Life for both of them has changed.

I received this book from the author for an honest review. Nancy Stopper is a terrific writer and all of the books in the Oak Grove series are great.

I love visiting Oak Grove, and this was no exception. The story starts out with a friends with benefits until there is an unplanned pregnancy. Maggie thinks she can do it all by herself, she has no plans on marrying Michael. Michael has different ideas he wants it all, marriage and a new baby.

Loved how Michael would not give up on Maggie but when she needed her space, he gave it to her. It was fun to see how Maggie changed through out the story.

A great addition to the Oak Grove stories, can be read as a stand alone.

This is book four in the Oak Grove Series. This is the story of Maggie and Michael. who have a 'friends with benefits' situation. Maggie did not have a loving home life growing up and has no intention of getting into marriage or having a family. Things get a little complicated when she finds out she is pregnant. Of course Michael wants to do the right thing and marry her. It was an emotional roller coaster watching them deal with their hidden feelings and insecurities. A great book and a great series. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.

SERIOUSLY????

Narration was entirely tooooooo long! A question gets asked in the middle of one page and you have to read a three page narration before the question is answered. By that time you've forgotten the question and have to go back...smh...the main character was made out to be a professional insecure train wreck who couldn't seem to let go of her childhood...why wasn't her mother introduced near the end??? Well, it helped me fill up a boring Sunday...good thing it was free or I would be requesting a refund...

One Last Objection is the fourth book in the Oak Grove Series. Michael is a planner, looking at everything from every angle to make the logical choice that will be most beneficial. Maggie is very independent and wants to do everything on her own without relying on anyone. But when a surprise is on the horizon, they have to work on finding a way to overcome their own stubbornness. I really enjoyed this book!

Midway romance

I wasn't going to say 5 for this book because I didn't like the family banter and silliness of Rachel's character at the beginning of the book. I really think that storyline could have been omitted. But finally the author gets down to the main couple and the real ups and downs of starting a family. Maggie was indeed a very strong woman but could have made her realization sooner, she tried to make Michael miserable, strong guy to hang in there

Great read! Maggie and Michael encounter a range of obstacles in the course of the love. The overwhelming love exhibited in all the books of this series of the Bennett family. This is just what Maggie needs after her unhappy childhood. I would love to see a book in this series where all the Bennett's get married!

I read this without reading the other books in the series. Usually I'm a stickler for reading series in order but for the most part this can be enjoyed as a stand alone. I do think I'll go back and read the other books in the series just because I liked the characters and I want to know more about them.

Interesting story

Every girl needs a guy as great as Michael. The h could e extremely stubborn to the point of frustration. Yes, her wealthy parents left he care to nannies and her to feel all alone and unloved. It takes a great deal of patience on the B's part for her to soften up.

I haven't read any of the others in the series and I struggled with the writing and didn't feel particularly engaged. Some parts of the story were relatable but overall I thought certain issues dragged on for way too long. After a while characters stop being likeable and the epiphany moment feels forced.
