Nonfiction Golden Book from the I Love Dinosaurs series, this one focuses on the Tyrannosaurus Rex. With the 1989 copyright, some information may be outdated, but it is a good introduction to this creature that interests a lot of young children.
This book offers facts all about the king of the Dinosaurs; Tyrannosaurus Rex. It puts the complex science behind dinosaurs into simple language that children can understand.
I enjoyed how honest the book was about the circle of life. It depicts two dinosaurs fighting over another killed dinosaur for food, and it also explains the line of dominance among the dinosaurs. Sometimes children's books try to tone the violence about dinosaurs, but this particular book was straight forward and that was a nice change of pace. However, I could see how this book might cause issues with other parents and maybe teachers.
Another way this book could be used is by incorporating a lesson about dinosaurs in the classroom. You could introduce the subject by reading this book to the children and follow by a fun activity so the students can learn about the history of where the came from and how they went extinct.
A nice children's book about the T-Rex and other dinosaurs, mixed with some scientific theories. Simple but a good conversation piece for young children.
