Wonderful picture of Denver from the past. Loved the pictures of 16th Street mall... still such an exciting area of Denver.

Excellent photographs and lots of detail. Be forewarned, if you read this, to take the information with a grain of salt. Facts are pretty loose in here.
This book could have used better editing. The history background paragraphs that are at the beginning of each section are not accurate. Anyone with knowledge of Colorado's history could have easily spotted these mistakes.
Some of the captions appear to be incorrect and names are spelled or mixed up, but that could be attributed to the photo donors perhaps.
Right off the bat in the foreword, one starts to wonder about historical accuracy. It says there are photos of the Denver area from the "early 1800s." The photograph was not invented until mid-century and Denver was not founded until 1858. The inaccuracy continues to Chapter One (p7) where it says that Denver was named for the governor of the Wyoming Territory!!!!! Ha! It is humiliating that you should be so inaccurate. He was the governor of the Kansas Territory. The Wyoming Territory did not even exist until after there was a Colorado Territory.
Later, it says the nation was on the "cusp" of the Great Depression in 1938. We were almost a full decade into the Depression, not on the cusp of it. In 1938, we were on the "cusp" of WWII and the end of the Depression.
