Book Six in Cora Seton's series is a comedic romantic romp that clearly defines whirlwind romance. The SEAL in question is Curtis Lloyd, already jilted at the altar by his high school girlfriend and losing out to another SEAL( see book 5) on intended bride # 2. But as chapter one begins, Curtis is getting ready to be wed. But then it doesn't happen... This leads billionaire Folsom to threaten the base camp in the worst ultimatum ever. Hurry up and get married or the land is going to become a theme park! This leads Boone to threaten Curtis to marry the next gal he meets and he only had 5 days to do it!
As fate would have it, two women need a white knight to get them to a wedding, and best friends, Raina and Hope, find themselves seeking shelter at Base Camp during the winter. Although Raina is on her way to being a bride, her maid of honor is very single. Enter Curtis who is going to get those women to their destination no matter how much snow flies!
Now I have adored all the previous 5 books in the series, but I am slightly miffed at how hurried this storyline was because even though I was never a Curtis fan, he showed promise in book 5 that made me eager to read his love story. But I missed the comradeship at base camp as Curtis and Hope travel with three fairly obnoxious players who continue to get in the way. Despite my minor irritation, I continue to read these stories at breakneck speed.
A SEAL's Resolve is the 6th book in Cora Seton's SEAL's of Chance creek series. It focuses around Curtis and if his bride will make it to the alter. The story had the same charm as the others in the series but the environment is different. I'm from the north east and snow is no joke. I was memorized by the blizzard and snow scenes. I could feel the cold and snow!
Curtis has been burned by love before but isn't willing to forgo his dreams of Base Camp succeeding, a loving wife and children. Unfortunately his latest fiance won't be waking down the aisle and he needs to find a replacement within the next 48 hours!
Raina and Hope are on an adventure. They need to get Raina to the church on time to marry and marry her fiance. Raina makes a bit of a detour but she and only wants happiness for her friend. They embark on a road trip that would rival Giligan ! The trip had them meeting new people, rescuing kitties and soul searching.
I liked that Hope had no clue what was going on at Base Camp. She was sweet albeit a bit of a control freak. It's no wonder once we find out why but her lists made her miss out on life.
The pair have chemistry but it seemed a little one sided at times. I was hoping Hope would have thrown caution to the wind sooner. She was a tough nut to crack. In the end she realized that she couldn't be without Curtis and what he offered.
This is a wonderful series about 10 former Navy SEALs who are passionate about sustainable living and have partnered (?) with a billionaire to create such a community. One of the conditions for this billionaire turning over the land to the SEALs is that they each marry within a year. Each book takes a SEAL on his journey to find his true love. Some are better than others, but all are sexy, romantic and portray their characters as real people. This one is one of the best. We have a Curtis, who has had a rocky road to true love, and now he has a five day deadline. Also, we have a real suspense tale that I loved.
When Navy SEAL Curtis Lloyd is left at the altar, again, he is actually relieved this time. That is short lived when he realizes that he only has five days in which to find himself a new bride or Base Camp will be destroyed. With a big blizzard in Montana, his prospects are very, very dim until a bride, Raina, and her maid of honor, Hope Martin, on the way to Boseman crash outside Base Camp. Curtis is instantly smitten with Hope and offers to get them to Bozman in time for the wedding. That proves to be a very tough mission for Curtis who is not only fighting mother nature, but trying to woo a very reluctant Hope. Call it fate or serendipity or kismet, I call it Raina. Raina, more or less, orchrestrated the crash outside Base Camp that lead to her best friend, Hope, meeting Curtis, falling in love and saving Base Camp.
Wow a snowstorm and three days to find a bride?! Curtis is nuts! He is such a caring and tender man I'll absolutely did not believe he could do it! But we excellent writing finds a way to make things work out for the best and Cora took us on an awesome snow adventure! It was really fun. I love this series! Write On woman I cannot wait for the next one!!!!
A SEAL’S Resolve: SEALS of Chance Creek Book 6 is by Cora Seaton. This is a wonderful continuation of the story of the men of Chance Creek. It keeps the energy of the experiment going and doesn’t let it get boring. It is one of the better books in the series. Boone Rudman had the idea of building a community that was totally sustainable on its own. Convinced ten other Navy SEALS to help him in this endeavor. Found land in Montana; but found it was owned by someone who wouldn’t sell. She agreed to marry him though and set up the community. She put up the land for their part. Got a billionaire investor, Martin Fulsom, to invest but he set some rules. First, it would be a reality show and a photographer would be there at all times. They would build a sustainable community with 10 tiny houses. The ten men would all marry within a year – one every 40 days. Three new wives would be pregnant or have baby by the end of the season. If they did as promised, they would receive the land free and clear. If not, he would sell to a man who would build a recreation park or housing development there. So far five of the ten were married with two pregnant. Now it was Curtis’s turn. Curtis really wanted to get married but for love and for eternity. However, he hadn’t found anyone yet. He had been left at the altar twice already- once just out of high school and once while in the Navy. He didn’t want a bride chosen for him so he went looking for his own. He found Michele who was interested in a temporary marriage to give her validity when she ran for Representative. Being married would help. However, as he waited at the altar, he began having second thoughts even though he understood how much he needed to get married. He didn’t get left at the altar, Michele did show up; but he didn’t get married as the maid of honor, Latisha, Michele’s assistant, stopped the wedding and proposed to Michele. Michele agreed with Curtis’s blessing and he even gave up his wedding day to Michele so she and Latisha were married. Meanwhile, he got ready to go find a wife. He had four days left. A blizzard hit Montana that night. Curtis and Anders kept the roads to the main road plowed to help when the snow finally quit. It wouldn’t be as hard to plow. On their last run, they found a car had run off into the ditch at the end of their drive. They brought the two women the found back to the bunkhouse where they were warned up, called Ben, and spent the night. Raina Harrison and Hope Martin were on their way to Bozeman where Raina was to marry Ben on Sunday. Hope had promised Ben that this time, Raina would not be late. Raina heard a bulletin for Base Camp on the radio telling of Curtis’s need for a wife by Monday. She thought Hope would be a good fit for the farm so she took them off their route to Chance Creek. By the time they got there, the blizzard was in full force and they ran off the road and were stranded. When Curtisand Anders found them, Raina was very happy to go back to the ranch with them. Hope was more suspicious. She spent the night learning about the ranch and getting excited about it. It fit right in with her plans for her future; but she envisioned them at Yellowstone. Curtis ended up promising to get the girls to Bozeman the next day in time for dinner with Raina’s in-laws. It would be a dangerous trip; but he was convinced they could make it. Would they make it to Bozeman in time or would they be stranded in the wilderness of Montana? Several unexpected guests ended up on the trip with them which made for more danger and lots of laughs. The book was simply great
Thank you for this ARC. A group of retired Navy Seals decides to build an environmentally sustainable community. To gather the money necessary they accept to participate in a reality television show funded by an eccentric billionaire. The men have to marry, within a year and produce at least three children. To decide whose turn it is to be married, they draw straws. They share the land with a group of women who manage a Regency themed B&B. Curtis is the next one to be married. He has not been lucky in his research of a wife. He has been proposed by a woman with political ambitions and the story opens on their wedding day. But the bride’s secret girlfriend intervenes and proposes and the two of them marry. Curtis is relieved, he would prefer to marry for love, but now Base Camp is in dire straits, five days remain for him to get married and a blizzard is coming.
Hope and Raina are best friends from kindergarten. They are driving to Bozeman for Raina’s wedding. While Hope his highly organized to the last detail and never parts with her planner, Raina is impulsive and, being a fan of the reality show, on a whim, decides to drive to Base Camp. Driving in the blizzard Raina drives the car in a ditch and they are rescued by Curtis and Anders. So now the girls are stuck at Base Camp. Curtis and Hope are attracted to each other. She likes the house Curtis build and loves the bison they raise. Her goal is to become a Yellowstone Ranger. But then Raina starts to panic since she is due to meet her fiancé grandparents, among other events, the next day and their car is out of commission. Curtis offers to drive them to Bozeman. The trip goes from bad to worse. During all the disadventures the bond between Curtis and Hope grows. I like Curtis character, he strong, honorable, resilient, funny. His struggles to find his happy ending in love are believable. Hope character seems immature to me, her motivations less believable. The story is catching and well written. I read it in one afternoon.
Ex-Navy SEAL Curtis Lloyd had the worst luck at the alter; first he was left standing when his high school sweetheart didn't appear, then his first bride at Base Camp choose another Navy SEAL and this final time his bride-to-be married her maid of honor instead of him. He still only had what was left of his forty days to find another bride and he wanted a woman he could love and build a home and family with and not just anyone. To top off his problem, Montana was having the blizzard of the century when two women crash at the foot of the drive leading to Base Camp.
Hope Martin is a planner and has her entire life plan in her planner, which she takes with her everywhere. Little does she know that A SEAL's Resolve is about to test her, change her plans and find the happiness that she didn't know she wanted or needed. I love this series with the strong Navy SEALs that are committed to form a sustainable community complete with tiny houses, energy production and grow their own food year around.
Having been left at the altar twice, Curtis is in need of a happy ending and hopefully love. Unfortunately, under the terms of the reality show the men are all on, Curtis needs to marry in four days. Not much time to find a bride let alone love. Good thing there is a matchmaker in the area ready to help out Curtis and her best friend Hope.
Like the other books in this series, this was a fun contemporary romance that pulled me in immediately. Although this one was not set in Chance Creek so there was less interaction with the characters from earlier books. Even so it continued the plot line of the reality tv series and set things uo for the next book in the series.
Terrific romance. It’s Curtis’ turn to marry but with less than a week to go he’s coming up short. Then a Montana blizzard hits. Can he find a bride before the deadline? Great plot (and different from earlier ones), wonderful dialogue, and fascinating characters.
Third times the charm right.... Poor Curtis has been left at the alter twice. To keep their place he has to find a luckily lady to marry Can you imagine having to marry just for a tv show to keep your place or it will Be lost to a up and coming developer. This is the sixth book in this series and I thought I liked Jerico’s book best but this one is a close second.
Hope is the heroine in this story her best friend is getting married and moving away Hope wants to establish her career and marry in ten years. While on a road trip to Her friends wedding their is a snow storm and the ladies get stuck. And guess whom helps them Curtis.
Hope’s Friend seems to have planned this cause of the way she is acting and she loves the show and knows that the men need brides. So was this planned is Hope’s friend a secret matchmaker or was this incident a coincidence. Best thing is Hope and Curtis seem to have some things in common.
Omg a Hope has this obsession with her planner. She even plans her bathroom breaks. The only thing I found weird is why they decided to drive to a wedding over two hours away in a blizzard which could get dangerous. The wedding things could have just got postponed. But this was the most adventurous road trip ever. Many obstacles and boundaries bickering you name it it happened. This by far is one of the best in this series.
‘Participating in a reality television show named for the model sustainable community’
Canadian author Cora Seton, formerly from California, lives the life of a farmer and has created a series of books whose main characters are cowboys and military men – especially the Navy SEALs. She has created the imaginary Chance Creek, Montana for her locale, suggesting that she focuses on the pleasures of country life also. Cora is a USA Today and NYT Times bestselling author. She writes in series – The Heroes of Chance Creek, The Cowboys of Chance Creek and The SEALs of Chance Creek. Cora offers her response to the concept of email romance, internet dating, and mail order bride searching, the influences of the military, along with the intricacies of family life– especially those mandates handed down to the children of ranch owners.
The entry portal to this story is a well paced curtain raiser – ‘“Curtis, are you sure about this?” Anders Olsen asked. Curtis looked in the mirror one last time, adjusted the collar of his blue Revolutionary Era uniform and nodded. At his feet, Daisy, the yellow dog who’d become his constant companion these past few months. Whined. “It’s too late to change my mind. The guests are here. The officiant’s ready. It’s time to do this thing. You got the wedding band?” “I’ve got it.” Anders patted his pocket. He was wearing an old-fashioned uniform, too; it had become a tradition of Base Camp to wear the historical outfits when one of them got married. His face was grave, his hair sticking up wildly where he kept running his hand through it. “But Michelle doesn’t even like you.”…
Cora distills her complex story well – ‘Twice Navy SEAL Curtis Lloyd has been ready to marry. Twice his bride to be has left him at the last minute for another man. So when a bride and her bridesmaid crash their car just outside Base Camp, in the biggest snowstorm this century, Curtis knows he has to get them to their wedding in Bozeman even if they have to walk the whole way. His motives aren’t entirely selfless: He needs a bride, too, in order to save the sustainable community he joined when he left the military, and feisty maid of honor Hope Martin is just the kind of woman he’d like to take to the altar.’
With a keen sense of humor and a penchant for well-paced tangled stories with added erotica to keep things steamy, Cora Seton shows why she is a best seller. Recommended.
This is an OK romance, but I thought that Hope acted really immature for her age. Curtis was better, but his actions were not that of a man who had been a Navy SEAL for years -- he just didn't seem to understand that his plans for a sudden marriage would shock Hope, and possibly alienate her.
It really bothered me that Curtis didn't tell Hope right away that he wanted to marry her in a few days. He just assumed he could get her to fall in love with him that fast, which was ridiculous. Then, when Hope did find out about the reality show's requirements for Curtis to get married right away -- she obviously thought he was just using her.
Hope's fixation on planning everything, right down to the last minute, was just ridiculous. I get that what happened to her as a teenager was traumatic, and I won't give spoilers -- but it wasn't bad enough to cause behavior that extreme. It seemed to me that the author made Hope an extreme over-planner just to provide a little unnecessary angst to the story -- and I can't stand when authors do that.
One problem I have with all of this author's series is that there is so long between books. Lots of times I have to go back and reread some of the earlier books in a series, simply because it has been so long that I don't remember all the characters. That is frustrating, and I wish the books in a series could be published closer together.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Curtis Lloyd had been ready to marry for a while now. He has been left twice by his brides to be but when mother nature gave him an opportunity to find his own bride he took it.
A bride to be and her bridesmaid crashed their car outside of Base Camp during a snowstorm. He made it his mission to help them now he had to get them to the wedding in Bozeman, no matter what.
Hope Martin, a bridemaid who felt like she was losing the one person who kept her grounded, her best-friend, Raina. On their to the wedding, the ladies got stuck in a snow storm. But they were rescued by two strangers, Curtis and Anders.
Curtis was intrigued by the beautiful and sassy bridemaid. He needed to find a wife in order to help his fellow SEAL brothers save their substantial community. And he knew Hope would be a wonderful addiction to their cause.
Curtis offered to drive the women to their destination, he also took that opportunity to woo Hope. They were both attracted to each other but she felt like she didn't have time to fall in love. Little did she know that Raina and fate had other plans for her.
It was wonderful to catch up with characters and meet new ones. The instant connection between Avery, Hope and Raina was beautiful. Blake sure was an unexpected and a great addition to this story. Curtis finally got his girl ;).
A SEAL'S RESOLVE is the sixth installment in Cora Seton's SEAL'S OF CHANCE CREEK series. It was fast-paced, enthralling, adventurous and a must read. Excellent job by Cora Seton. 5+++
****I received this book, without any obligation to review.****
I think this is now my favorite so far in this series.
Curtis has lost out on brides twice, this second time leaves him with only 5 days to find another bride and there's a blizzard on the way. As the snow begins to fall he starts to think there's no hope and it will be his fault they lose everything they've worked so hard for.
While Curtis is being left at the alter another Bride is preparing to leave Illinois to travel to Bozeman, Montana for her wedding. Raina didn't want to leave her job until the last minute so along with her maid of honor Hope she was undertaking the twenty-four hour drive. Raina also reveals she isn't coming back to Illinois, the newlyweds would be staying in Bozeman. However, Raina's fiance Ben's best man Scott, has an in at Yellowstone and possibly a job opportunity for Hope as a Park Ranger.
As soon as Raina heard about Curtis' predicament, she formulated a change of plans. Hope needed a husband so they could eventually raise their children together. Curtis is the perfect candidate for her scheme.
Since Hope hasn't seen the show, Raina manages to pull off getting stuck at the drive to the camp.
Now Hope has a planner, her life and days planned out almost to the second. She's about to have her whole world turned upside down, even as Curtis helps her knock off a couple of things from her bucket type list.
I loved every single page of this book, I laughed, held my breath and crossed my fingers too, as Curtis fulfills his promise to get Raina to her wedding, and courts Hope.
Lot's of surprises, snow filled adventures, and so much more!
Ms. Seton continues to capture my heart with this series! Not only does she "tell you a story", but she makes you feel like you are a part of it, right there at the core of the lives of her characters. The Seals of Chance Creek series feels more and more like a small town or community, bound together by a mutual interest in not only the land, but the lifestyle also. With the women from the B & B, along with the men trying so desperately to make the "sustainable living" Base Camp a reality, we are swept away to a world that we can not only admire, but wish we were a true part of. This episode is a bit of a change from the others, as most of it takes place away from Base Camp, as Curtis once again finds himself left at the alter and in desperate need of a bride. When Hope made a promise to get her best friend Raina to her wedding on time, she could have never imagined the adventure she was about to embark on. When Raina received the Base Camp update letting the public know that Curtis was in need of a bride, stat, she decided to take a bit of a detour. There would never be anyone better suited to Curtis than her BFF, Hope. If only she can get Hope to open her heart and let Curtis in! Full of adventure, a few short fuses, some hot tempers and lots of persuasion, this episode will have you laughing and crying throughout. I absolutely loved it! I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.
There was something about this story that just made me fall in love with Curtis Lloyd. He'd been left at the altar twice and had such a short time to find a bride so Fulsom wouldn't take their hard work right out from under them and sell the land to a ruthless man who planned to do something completely new and different with it but something that would mock the entire reason these servicemen had come together to build this sustainable community.
When Hope's best friend and bride-to-be needs to be in Bozeman for her wedding, Hope promises her fiance she will get her friend their in time. But as a detour takes them to Base Camp, thoughts of making it in time for the wedding begin to crumble. Still, Curtis believes he can get the women there on time and that he can break down the walls Hope has built around her heart. When the weather threatens to stop their party from making it, Curtis must go into overdrive to make it happen. Will he get the women to Bozeman on time? And will he show Hope that love can't be scheduled but is a spontaneous gift from the heart?
I admired the determination the author gave to both Curtis and Hope even though it caused them to butt heads. It was sweet, endearing, sexy, heartbreaking and healing. And the ending was perfection. I look forward to seeing the rest of the men in this sustainable community find their brides.
The sixth book in the seals of chance creek series. A group of navy seals have to all get married within a year (one every 40 days) and there needs to be 3 babies on the way. On top of that they need to build a sustainable community.
The 6th book is the story of Curtis Lloyd. We have been introduced to Curtis in earlier books and know he was jilted at the alter by his high school sweetheart, then at base camp he was meant to marry a ‘back up’ bride who fell for another of the seals then days before his wedding of convenience to Michele that also falls through.
With just days to marry we feel for Curtis and the rest of base camp who fear their hopes and dreams may be dashed if a wedding does not take place. In crash Raine and Hope who are travelling through a blizzard to get Raine to her wedding on time. Curtis steps in to save the day and sparks immediately fly between him and Hope. She has her life timeline thoroughly mapped out though and we are left wondering if there will be a HEA.
Cora Seton does not disappoint with the twists and turns in this story and as a reader I felt thoroughly immersed in the feelings of the characters.
I was really looking forward to this book and am disappointed that I’ve now finished it but was certainly not disappointed in the story! Another great read and I’m now eagerly waiting the next instalment. Great read!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is the 6th book in the series. It would be better if you read all the prior books in the series before this one due to the ongoing plot and characters.
If you want to know what the book is about, please read the blurb above the reviews.
The plot was an interesting one. I have to admit when I started this series, I thought it would be interesting but the whole reality TV part of this is starting to get on my nerves. The story revolves around that rather than the story or characters. I've read a few other of these types of stories and found the same thing when "reality TV" is used. I don't know why.
If you take this out, the plot is pretty good as it starts off with something you can't see happening and it caused me to laugh. Then you go into needing a wife part and how he meets a woman who is different but when you read why she's different it has you laughing in parts but you know its not going to finish well for the heroine.
The characters are definitely characters in this one. It felt like the author was trying to have some fun and stay away from the reality TV part of the book. This could be the reason why I liked this story so much more than the others in the past few books.
I hope the author continues to give the reality TV part a glancing blow and put more into the development of the story and characters. To me its worth more.
This is book six of this series and is Curtis Lloyd and Hope Martin's story.
Curtis is next in line to get married and is left at the alter with only 5 days left to find a bride and make her his wife. Hope Martin stumbles (with some help from her best friend) into Curtis's life full of fire and a planner which Curtis quickly changes for the rest of the day. She certainly isn't going to be able to do the things she has listed but he has some other things in mind and one of them is how to convince her to marry him before his deadline.
This book had all the feels from sadness that Curtis was left at the altar again. Gladness that Hope stumbled into his life. Excitement that they are actually falling for each other. Fear that the things that happened due to the snowstorm will prevent Curtis from fulfilling his promise to get her best friend ,Raina to Bozeman in time for her wedding. Excitement when Hope realizes the best things in life sometimes fall into your lap and aren't planned, at least by you. Joy when they get their HEA.
This book will take you on a journey through a Montana Blizzard with people and things that try the mind, body and spirit. As strangers become friends and acquaintances become allies. I hope all that read this book will enjoy it as much as I did.
This is the sixth book in the series and it's the turn of Curtis. The men of Base Camp are all ex-seals who are trying to establish a sustainable community. To enable them to do this, they had to agree to being part of a reality show, with certain rules. One such rules was that there had to be a wedding every 40 days ! This time it's the turn of Curtis. Curtis had been left at the altar when he was a teenager, so was apprehensive in trying again, but he would for the same of the community. When Curtis met Michelle, they agreed to see for their mutual benefits, but once again Curtis was left at the altar. He now had only a few days in which to find someone willing to marry him, before the deadline, when they would lose everything. This is certainly a unique storyline and you find yourself willing Curtis on. As is the case with Cora Seton's books, this is well written, with very likeable characters. I am enjoying this series and look forward to seeing how Anders finds his bride in the next book. I was gifted this book. This is my honest review.
I am so happy that Curtis finally gets his chance. This story is different, as it takes place primarily outside of Base Camp! However, Hope and Raina are good additions. Raina is supposed to get married in a few days and her best friend/maid of honor Hope has promised the groom.that they will be there on time. Unfortunately, the blizzard of the century is coming in strong. Since Curtis likes Hope right away, he agrees to get them to Bozeman on time as a way to woo Hope. With only a few days left before he HAS to marry or let the whole group down, Curtis has his work cut out for him.
This story has a lively pace, a hopeful tone, a character centered storyline with some steamy scenes and vibrant characters facing some tough problems. Living in an area that does get blizzards, they are truly hazardous. The description of this one is very well done. I can't wait to read the next one! Read these in order, if you haven't already and enjoy!
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Once again Cora hit it out of the park! Now this latest in the series is about Curtis and Hope. Curtis has struck out twice and the last one was one heck of a crazy mess that I was holding my side from laughing because even I didn't see that coming. With that incident occurring he only has less than a week to get hitched.
Now here comes Hope and her bestie Raina making one hell of an entry into Base Camp. That also leaves them stranded with no way to get to Raina's wedding in the mess of winter storm. Swooping in trying to save the day and catch him a woman is Curtis of course...offering to give them a lift.
The couple go on one hell of a rollercoaster through the blizzard. And I must say I felt like I was back in my home state during a winter storm while reading those scenes. I also felt like I was reading a bit about myself when it came to Hope and her lists.
All in all it was a brilliant read and I guess third time's a charm for Curtis.
A SEAL's Resolve by Cora Seton is book six in her SEALs of Chance Creek Series. The stories are interconnected, but every book is about another couple and can easily be read as standalone.
A SEAL's Resolve is Curtis Lloyd and Hope's story. Curtis is one of the men from base camp, part of a TV Show and more than ready to marry. But he was left two times already at the altar and he's weary, understandable. Now he needs a new bride asap and with a little convincing from friends his future bride, Hope Martin has no chance at escape. He got her hook line and sinker and I was so so happy that Curtis got a beautiful bride, a great love and a well deserved HEA. The story was captivating and I was hooked from the first chapter, I had to read the book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down, I had to know what hppens to the characters. A SEAL's Resolve has everything that I love in a good story, all the feels, is beautifully thought out and beautifully written.
U.S. Navy Seal Curtis Lloyd's turn--Will Hope be the one? This is another fun and completed story about Curtis and his efforts to keep their sustainable community going by meeting certain requirements to be gifted the land at the end of the season on Base Camp, a reality TV show. For his part he builds tiny houses. Now, he must step up as he drew the short straw and has only 40 days to marry. Harris "stole" the last bride intended for him and he is in search of his own. After a BIG hiccup, Hope is thrown in his path by her best friend. The antics they go through to get that friend to her own wedding during a blizzard are just fantastic! What a page-turner! I had fun with the incredible visualization and story this book provided. Cora never disappoints! Such a practical girl Hope was with her "rigid" schedule/planner--and dating Curtis is not in her plans...but can it be? Then what about marriage to him by Monday! Oh no! This story was a hoot!
Determined. Curtis is determined. Very determined. He’s determined to do all that he can for Base Camp. He’s a carpenter building the tiny houses. He’s determined to get Raina to her wedding on time. I mean, what’s a little blizzard between friends? And he’s determined to get married within his 40 days – even though his agreed upon bride ditched him for her assistant. And now he’s determined to marry Hope – even though he’s only known her for an incredibly short time. Hope might have other ideas, though!
Author Cora Seton offers up her latest Chance Creek novel with a story that will keep you reading, even when you’re pretty sure you know what’s going to happen next. Curtis and Hope, Raina, and all of the good people at Base Camp make this an easy read. The story is simple, the characters entertaining, and the outcome expected – even when plans are thrown out the window and Mother Nature takes control.
I have to admit, that I didn’t like Curtis Lloyd very much when I read A Seal’a Pledge and he acted so terribly to Harris “Hawk” Wentworth and tried to woo Samantha away from him. Although he has proven himself a hard worker and contributes to the sustainable community, I had my reservations about him. But in this telling of his story, I found that I had a lot more sympathy for him and ended up cheering him on as he vied for the affections of Hope. Ms. Seton’s changing storyteller perspective highlighted the feelings that each of the two main characters were having. Secrets eventually come out regarding Hope’s need for planning and control and also about Curtis’ lack of luck at the altar. A page turner for sure! A wonderful tale with car crashes, snow storms, and big revelations! LOVED IT!
WOW! What a FANTASTIC story! I had to force myself to put the book down to do the things I needed to do. The story is about Curtis. The beginning was sad as he was left at the altar once again. Now Hope enters the picture when her best friend, Raina decided that Hope and Curtis were perfect for each other. It was interesting as the story continues that a blizzard puts everything in a holding pattern. Raina needed to get to Bozeman to marry her man but along the way, Curtis picks up 5 kittens and a man who got stuck and was hoping to get through the pass he decided to take but the cameraman raced to catch up to the group and thereby ruins the truck that he was driving as well as the truck Curtis was driving. Meanwhile, Mother Nature didn't let up at all. Now, finally Curtis was able to get Raina on her way to get wedding while he went back for the rest of the group he left behind. All this time together, Curtis and Hope were falling in love with each other. Curtis met the deadline in getting married. He finally was NOT left at the altar. I am happy these two found each other and found their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Cora! I would highly recommend this book.
This has to be my favourite couple of this series so far! I've loved them all but there is just something so endearing about Curtis and Hope that had me putting off all work and turning the pages, until I had finished! This book gave me all the feels, sorrow for Curtis, he's really been through it in previous relationships, anger, Fulsom is not a good man, joy that Curtis and Hope are falling for each other and all will be saved, suspense what's going to happen to this poor group of people next, I laughed at the antics of some at Base Camp, at Raina, how one person can change the fate of so many others! It was just a joy to read, I want my own tiny house, SEal and to be a member of Base Camp! Looking forward to the next I really hope it comes out soon!!
Curtis is smart, handsome, a talented carpenter, humorous and unlucky in love. Finding Hope a determined woman who has her future planned requires Curtis to convince Hope he is her future. Facing a horrendous blizzard on the way to a pending, important wedding of Hope's best friend, Curtis does his best to prove his devotion, steadfastness and that Hope can trust him. This is a story of a man looking for love and his future and a women who thinks she knows what she wants, but perhaps needs a new plan. Wonderfully written this tale of dogs, cats, haggling man children along with true men and women helping each other find their way. Chance Creek and Base Camp once again provide a clear view of the future, with love and loyalty.
Will Curtis finally get to say I Do or will he yet again be left at the altar.
All Hope wants to do is get her best friend to her wedding no matter how bad a snow storm they have to face.
Book 6 and I am still loving this series which is really no surprise Cora Seton has never written a book I didn't fall head over heels for.
It has been worth the wait to read Curtis's story but then Hope led in on such a merry chase I did start to wonder if he would ever get his HEA.........
I loved the scene this journey through the worst snowstorm to hit Montana in many years was so well described I just loved it, then you add in some awesome characters who made me both laugh and cry and here is a story to remember.
