When Edie catches Mack staring, her whole body thrills with a dangerous desire. But despite their attraction, how can a relationship ever work? Mack swears by love and commitment, two things Edie only knows about from the dictionary.

I forced myself to finished this book. I like knowing there are men who want family life instead of sleeping around. The bomber was never identified nor did the author really seem to care about that. I skipped parts because I got tired of the characters talking to themselves.
Edie and Mack made a good couple, but the romance seemed shallow. I believe in first sight attractions, but this one didn't seem to get my attention.
I'm skeptical about other books by her because this one just didn't move me.

Wow, that is one of the best romance stories I have read in a long, long time.

Strong characters - woman and male are true equals and the best at their jobs. Their jobs were important to the story. Background characters were amazing, friendships real, action solid. Well-developed backstories and reveals. Thriller subplot kept everything going.

Plot line of romance. Plot line of personal growth for each of the main characters. Plot line of thriller. Plot line introducing characters for other books in series - so subtle you don't even notice it.

Perfect example of how lawyers act. Perfect examples of how security firms act. Yes, the story had politically touchy subjects: family care clinics, poor sections of town being treated worse, blacks being questioned harder than whites, ... But these are characters seeing it from their side of the world. Right or wrong, these are how people in these situation see these things.

Everything mixed well. You want to know how it is done. Ms. Pressa brought it all to the table.

This romance novel gets an extra star for its very unusual setting: in and around an abortion clinic. Otherwise, all of the usual romance novel tropes (instant attraction between the leads, the argument that causes them to stop speaking, the happy ending, etc.) are here. As my other reviews will attest, I'm a sucker for these kinds books IF they are well-executed. This one had some problems--poor editing/copy-editing (use of the word "peeled" instead of "pealed," for example) and a subplot that went nowhere to name two.

Not my usual kind of book to read. Although it was mostly enjoyable, I didn't get the thrill of reading it that I usually get when reading books. It was a free Iphone book that I could read while waiting in doctor's offices, so it took longer than usual to finish. I did surprise myself by remembering where it left off each doctor appointment I had, even though it took a really long time to finish! (Longer than the time frame stated on this forum, as I didn't think about entering it for a while.)

A Gentleman

This was an interesting story introducing the Sanford Security Novels. A young lawyer finds herself pregnant after a one night stand. During her work with a women's clinic she meets the head of security. Finding each other while solving a bomb threat leads to an interesting romance.

turned out not to be my cup of tea. very slow with a lot of self-dialogue or, in my opinion, filler. I found the storylines to be interesting because they touched on something happening in today’s world, but getting through this book was tough. some will like the detailedness of it, but I like a faster pace.

I loved it.

It had action, romance, and humor. The trifecta. Accomplished, Black protagonists icing on the cake. I bought this book August of 2018 and am just getting around to reading it. Let’s see what happens with Mr. Jackson.

Enjoyable

While predictable, I felt the need to travel this journey with them. Very well written. I would recommend it, definitely.

Enjoyable

I really enjoyed the dynamics of the story. I liked the layers and that Edie and Mack chose to take the chance. I didn't like the swearing.

Nice character development

A nice combination of characters and a realistic plot with a bit of romance thrown in. I especially enjoyed getting to see the evolution of Mack.

Nice romance, I liked the way the author has tackled some social issues without moralizing, very enjoyable read.
