Tim Seeley is a comic book artist and writer known for his work on books such as G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, The Dark Elf Trilogy, Batman Eternal and Grayson. He is also the co-creator of the Image Comics titles Hack/Slash[1] and Revival, as well as the Dark Horse titles, ExSanguine and Sundowners. He lives in Chicago.

I absolutely loved this. A college student stumbles upon an ancient book called the Sword. He bonds with it and is immediately beset upon by rogue magicians and assassins looking to take the power the book provides. Lots of cool character designs and magical world building. It's also loosely tied into the shared universe, Comics Greatest World and Project Black Sky, Dark Horse has tried to create a couple of times.
