There are some things Marissa Van Dyke won't do -- celebrate Halloween is one of them. When she's guilted into attending a Halloween party, all she wants to do is leave. Until a man named Neil Drigan materializes at her side, making her forget everything but his familar green eyes.
Can there be salvation under his powerful presence -- even on such an unholy night?
This is the first book in the Moonlight and Shadows series.
USA Today and NY Times bestselling author Candice Gilmer leads a dangerous double life as a mommy and a writer. In between boo-boo healing and fixing broken toys, she writes stories usually to the tune of children's television shows.
Growing up in the Midwest, Candice stays close to her family, especially the ones with basements when the tornadoes come around.
All in all, she stays very busy, but really, she wouldn't have it any other way.
I picked this up as a promotional free download. Um. I guess it's probably pretty standard werewolf paranormal romance, but it was a bit too cheesy for me. There's not much plot beyond Marissa being attacked by her ex-boyfriend who happens to have turned into a vampire in the time between when they broke up and when he attacked her. This somehow (?) makes Neil, a werewolf, know his mate is in trouble...or something. So he saves her, but he thinks it's a dream. But then they really meet and can't keep their hands off each other. And the author makes it a point to have Marissa think about how she knows Neil is a hairy guy, and even though that's a turnoff for most women, Marissa is totally turned on by hairy guys.
Also, I just could not handle the multiple times that the author wrote that Neil was "poised at her entrance." OMG.

Hot, hot hot! Romance, vamps, wolfies and inocent young women. Seems llike a typical new age tale, well think again! This book takes the typical and turns it on it's side and around again. Sexy, fast paced and very sensual makes this a great addition to the adult book shelf library. My copy has book one "Unholy Night" and Book two "A Darker Trinity" together. Great idea! You will want to keep reading! I hear that book three is available now....I guess it's time to head to the book store or Kindle!
Marissa Van Dyke can’t remember how she got home from the bar that night one month ago, but she has been having disturbing dreams ever since and still has the knot on her head to proclaim something had happened...

I think the author had a good idea but the story wasn't long enough to pull it off so the ending was glossed over and rushed. Also, there were a few grammatical errors that were distracting.
The story was good (I had one prob with the bk but I know it wouldn't given anyone else pause so I'm just going to leave it be) and I'd read another in the series
