When Pippa Parker joins the village choir, she doesn’t expect anyone to die...
No-one thinks the death of a soprano is anything but a tragic accident; everyone in the choir is too busy rehearsing for SingFest UK. With no help from the police, Pippa must investigate alone. If anyone finds out what she is up to, she risks losing both her friends and the respect of the local community.
And speaking of friends, what on earth does best friend Lila see in her new man?
Murder in the Choir is the second book in the Pippa Parker cozy mystery series, set in and around the English village of Much Gadding.
I grew up in south London, did an English degree, and then took forever to start writing. The stories started to grow longer...and then the murders began!
I tend to write Victorian mysteries of a not-too-scary nature. I've somehow managed to have 3 separate Sherlock Holmes-themed series (why make things easy?). I also co-wrote the Caster & Fleet mystery series with Paula Harmon, and my Maisie Frobisher Mysteries series is a spinoff from that.
I write a modern cozy mystery series, Pippa Parker Mysteries, and my newest series, The Magical Bookshop, is a cozy mystery series with a touch of fantasy and magic.
Visit my website for book info, links to stories, and my blog, in which I ramble on about all sorts of things. Hope to see you soon.
If you like cosy murder mysteries - here's a young mother who won't let two small children hamper her pursuit of justice! If you think rural life is nothing but peace and quiet, think again. Just when Pippa thinks the only thing she has to worry about is a teething baby and a son starting pre-school, her first steps to pick up a hobby outside the home uncover seething tensions, leading to more questions than answers and an unexpected death. After reading 'Murder in the Playgroup' I was eagerly awaiting the next instalment and wasn't disappointed. Half of me would like to think that Pippa can put her feet up now and settle into a peaceful routine, but I have a feeling it's not the last we'll see of this unlikely sleuth.
As a huge fan of the first Pippa Parker mystery i was excited to see the follow up appear on Amazon. It quickly jumped to the top of my TBR pile. I love the writing style, very light and easy to read, with a lot of great humour and fun characters. The village of Gadding is as much a character as anyone else, and once again the small flourishes make it feel very much like a real place.
Pippa once again finds herself at the centre of a mystery and gets to practice her newly acquired sleuthing skills. I don't really want to say too much about the plot as I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say if you enjoyed the first one you will love this one too.
The first Pippa Parker book was a lot of fun, and the second one also delivers. Pippa now has to take care of a baby and a toddler while investigating a new murder in her community. The book has many colorful characters that keep the mystery interesting. My favorite one was Sheila, Pippa's nosy mother-in-law, who helps her in the investigation. I'm eager to start reading the next book as soon as possible!
This kindle e-book novel is from my Kindle Unlimited account book 2 of 6
Pippa Parker is looking for something different and joins the local choir. A woman 🚺 with health issues dies. Is it murder? She and her mother-in-law undercover the truth leading to the arrest of the killer.
I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic family and friends relationships mystery novels 👍🔰. 2024
This is another good book by this author. It is a book about a young mother who seems to find the crime of murder in very ordinary situations. Good read for waiting for appointments and such.
Pippa Parker a mum of two under gives involved herself in uncovering a possible murder. She gets no encouragement from her husband or most of her village but persists till she solved the mystery.
I really love Pippa, and I can relate so much to the character. It's not a five star because it felt rushed and not well fleshed out. The victim you never got to know and the killer was boring. However I love the vibe of the book l and will be reading the third one next.
Not quite sure what I think, loved the first in the series,,found this a tad tedious particularly all the detail about the choir. A good ending. Pippa is a character you do learn to love.
