This is short, and very basic book about investing.
I don’t like this book because it’s written in that way, that you get confused sometimes, and you can’t understand what is written. For example: the part where it says about how to evaluate price of stocks.
Another thing is, that this book is just full of information that you can find online for free, just by reading different blogs, and watch different YouTube videos – And, that also sometimes get confusing, because everybody are saying that there are experts; but still, everybody also promotes their courses and books.
When it comes to investing, I’ve already had read The Intelligent Investor, and that book does offer so many valuable content.
Another thing that’s bothering me it that, everybody just keep repeating “buy low, sell high” when it comes to stocks. But nobody is telling how to watch market, and how to determine when the price of stock is correct.
The most annoying thing about this book, that author is asking to join his yearly membership program, where he’s going to send you information on top performing stocks in which you should invest. Of course, that program cost money; and I don’t feel like I should pay even more money.
There is a lack of information about Brokers, which to use and so on – and that is also important information.
Why should I pay for these kind of information?
In book The Intelligent Investor you have a list of 40 companies that survived all major crises and have stable growth for a long time. From that book alone I can choose best stock, and just wait for the right moment to invest in.
And that is the hard part, you need a good understanding on how to do proper analysis of the company, and determine is the current price of the stock worth paying for it.
I was hoping to learn that from this book – But seems like this book doesn’t offer it.
An investment isn’t just a handful of digits on a screen – your hard-earned cash is on the line. Managed well, your portfolio is a ticket to financial independence and even early retirement; managed poorly, it’s a black hole which swallows up your livelihood. In short, the stakes are high.
You don’t need to be a financial whiz to know that the most important decision is what to buy – but it’s not as simple as just identifying lucrative openings. This where the FALCON Method comes in. Named after the author’s surname, which means “falcon” in Hungarian, the FALCON Method directs your attention to a single, fruitful asset class: company shares. This method helps unravel the tangled financial landscape by providing you with an objective set of measurements to evaluate different businesses. By ranking the best of these on a set of equations, we reveal which are ripe for investment.
The FALCON Method advocates a precise and unemotional investment strategy which focuses on rigorous company evaluation and a buy and hold philosophy. Its well-structured process focuses on long-term dividend payers and applies a strict set of filters to weed out dodgy deals and subpar investments. By following the FALCON Method’s steps and using its recommended financial indicators, average traders can give themselves the best possible chance for growing their wealth and building a passive income.
(I received this book at no cost from the author.)
The Falcon method is a system with the goal of building passive income and wealth through stock investing. The author explains why stocks are the best long term asset over mortgages, gold, money-market funds, etc. He provides a detailed explanation of how he created the method, the reasoning behind the stock picking criteria and the potential returns of this form of investing. You can use the criteria to enhance your investment strategy or sign up for the Falcon method newsletter service and receive monthly stock picks.
The method uses the very sound principles of value investing. Researching and selecting stocks that are issued for strong companies with a solid financial history where the stock price is on sale and likely to grow in the future. Most people do not have the time or inclination to research individual stocks themselves. If this is your situation, you may want to take a look at the service and see if it suits your needs. Even if you aren't interested in the service, there is valuable information here to enhance your search for value stocks.
I have watched David's Udemy course on Dividend Investing which I think, was pretty good with ton of examples and clear step-by-step actions. I expected the same from this book. But, David has written this book as a promotional material for his newsletter.
I did read few 1-star reviews warning me of this but took a punt thinking, he may give some steps to follow on the DIY analysis. Boy, I was disappointed and feel like I was duped by the author. It is frustrating to see 5-star ratings for this piece of garbage! Makes me sick and angry!
I have returned the item for a refund. I would NOT recommend this book at all!
The basic learning from the books is- invest in companies having a history of good dividend growth along with earnings growth, reinvest the dividends back into the companies, analyse them from time to time to ensure they are not overvalued, stay invested if they are undervalued with respect to peers or exit if overvalued.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The author describes a way to pick quality stocks as a long term investment. Yes, he does pitch his newsletter at the end of the book, but you could use the methods he describes and do the hard work yourself.
It’s a easy book for someone who wants to know the basic for shares. But not for who wants to know how to start. It was a little to much advertisement in the start of the book.
This is a quick read. Talks about investing practice to invest in companies which deliver the highest dividends over last twenty years, have good shareholder yield, ROIC and are available at a good valuation multiple.
The author has provided a simple long-term investment strategy in bite-sized steps without using fancy jargons. It could be a good starting point for creating your design.
‘Successful investing requires structured decision-making based on a well-built process’
Hungarian author David Solyomi is also an investor, entrepreneur, and instructor on dividend investing on various e-learning platforms. As investing is his passion, he surrendered all his executive roles at the age of 33 and became a full-time investor. He established and sold his first company by the age of 24 and more of the same “building and selling” processes followed afterward. THE FALCON METHOD is his debut in publishing.
David’s writing style invites the reader into the territory that for many of us is threatening. In his Preface he states, ‘What Makes a Good Company and a Good Investment? The value of an investment is determined by the amount of cash it can pay you, the timing and probability of these payments, and the prevailing risk-free interest rate. If this sounds complex, it’s not, really: let me show you how sensible investing can be simple and rewarding at the same time. History shows us that stocks provide the best returns in the long run. Since stocks are not lottery tickets but rather represent ownership stakes in real companies, there are just two questions a successful investor must be able to answer: What makes a good company? A firm that produces more cash than it consumes and only needs to retain a fraction of this surplus cash to maintain the standard of its operations and its competitiveness can be a promising candidate for investment. The key is having this “no-strings-attached cash,” which can either serve as the source of further growth or can be returned to the owners… a good company excels in the operations and capital allocation dimensions. But these alone will not make it a good investment, since the company will give you subpar returns if you overpay for the shares. This is where the third key dimension, valuation, comes into play. You need to buy stocks of quality companies when they are available on the cheap—that’s the recipe for stock market success and wealth building. As obvious as it sounds, this has been proven to work for centuries, as we will soon see.’
David explains the Falcon Method – ‘it’s all about buy and hold’ – in a manner that is easily absorbed and accessible even to new investors. It may take several readings to absorb all of the rich information here, but with David’s distinct manner of tutelage accompanied by additive illustrations, even the novice can learn and appreciate and grow. Highly recommended.
Good information for his investment method, but it’s a sales pitch for his newsletter. The discount codes no longer work and the cost of the newsletter is drastically more now.
