Dialogic teaching is a powerful tool that reorientates our ideas about the talk that happens in the classroom. By talking in away that stimulates discussion, questioning and true dialogue, children learn to think that way and the impact of teaching can be more powerful and meaningful. This method can help to develop the mindset required for active citizenship that will allow the next generation to safeguard our democracy in troubling times.
I really should have read this earlier. I'm pretty sure it's been on my reading list since first year but for me, it has never been useful. Well not until this assignment for philosophy, which is hugely useful!
Alexander is a pioneer in his field and I'm sick of people mentioning him and him referencing himself in a number of books (which is driving me absolute crackers).
