Anglo-Welsh writer born to an army family in what was then Ceylon.
After retiring from the army he adopted Wales as home and began to write of the country and its history. His first, and best-known novel, the Rape of the Fair Country (first in the Mortymer Trilogy) was a million selling best-seller in its day.
Not sure why this is listed by Goodreads as SciFi genre as it isn't and is quite political. Set in UK in a period post Heath/Thatcher and provides a taut tale based around an uprising to remove the elected government arising from dissatisfaction with and demonstrated corruption of the seated body. Weave in a bit of upper class society, and PTSD of the main protagonist, the tale considers how fascism and communism are so closely linked/related/presented, with several parallels to the Spanish Civil War and requires some concentration.
