working on the sleep journal as suggested....and this is the most helpful thing about this book. it was ok, but I don't see it being a grand help in the end. He talks about behavior modification with sleep habits, and setting the stage to sleep well, but what bothered me about the book is that he assumed you hadn't DONE any of these things basically. I thought I might learn something new, but apart from using a sleep journal as a clue to patterns and trends and encouraging me to sleep more, it wasn't much help other than helping me to define the TYPE of insomniac i am.

I almost feel bad giving this book only two stars. Almost. It's not a bad book, exactly. It contains useful information on sleep problems, both sleep disorders as well as bad habits, and how they might be remedied. The problem is that it is annoyingly repetitious. Dr Zammit will describe the same disorder, diagnostic technique or treatment plan two or three or even more times using almost exactly the same wording! It could probably be one hundred pages shorter. That, and the book is twenty years old, and medical technology has changed a lot in twenty years. But: if you have serious sleep issues this book is a reasonable place to start looking for answers.

Mostly accurate but already well known information. This book was ok, but it didn’t solve the mystery about why I keep waking up at 6 am (or before 😭) everyday no matter what time I go to bed 😳.
