Looking Forward to More

4.5 stars - BDSM and spy suspense combine to create wonderful stories that get better with every installment. I have been drawn into not only the relationships of each couple but also the family these friends and enemies create as they go along. A great series that I look forward to continuing!

I read along with the audio books. The narrator, Ryan West, does a wonderful job! Not only does he have a voice that's easy to listen to, but he gives a really good performance when it comes to sass, ego, accents, and general delivery. A bit more of a feminine touch for Grace, Eve, and the other ladies would've been ideal, but I'm still very happy. 🎧💚🎧

Story: 4-5 stars
Narration: 4.5 stars

Here are my individual reviews for each book. Happy reading! 📚💋

The Dom Who Loved Me 🌟🌟🌟🌟 -
Lexi Blake Masters and Mercenaries bk 01 The Dom Who Loved Me

Something to Believe
While Sean (Little Tag) Taggart did tick me off with his wishy-washy beliefs in Grace (Little One) Hawthorne innocence, I did like that he was still standing up for her and protecting her. He does act like a petulant child a time or three, but his bottom line didn't change.

As for Grace, having the men from McKay-Taggart in her life, as challenging as they could be, seemed to help her rediscover herself. While I could've done without the self-doubt they caused her, I liked how she became a stronger person as the story went on, transforming from a doormat into a fierce and sassy woman who started to recognize her self-worth.

She had thought sex was Sean’s weapon against her, but damn, the man could cook.
-- Grace Hawthorne

I really liked this series opener and will be delving into more very soon. I think my favorite part was when they were both vulnerable and let the other in. Yes, the steam was delicious, as were the BDSM elements. Adding in some spy games upped the fun and intrigue. Their vulnerability is what really made the story, though.

The Men with the Golden Cuffs 🌟🌟🌟🌟 -

Lexi Blake Masters and Mercenaries bk 02 The Men with the Golden Cuffs

Lost Opportunities

Jacob (Jake) Dean, Adam Miles, and Serena (Amber Rose) Brooks stumble quite a bit as they begin to learn each other. It's funny and sometimes exasperating. When they get their act together, I really like them, but when one or more of them get their head stuck in their 🍑, it drives me insane. I'm not a violent person, but it's possible that Jake's and Adam's pigheadedness has me considering a new course in life.

She was exactly his type, and she seemed to be in trouble. He was a sucker for a woman in trouble.
-- Adam Miles

The ending is a twist that I only partially saw coming. It's bittersweet and full of danger. So, yeah, I like it. 😉

A Dom is Forever 🌟🌟🌟🌟 .5 -

Lexi Blake Masters and Mercenaries bk 03 A Dom Is Forever

Secrets and Punishments

I really like Avery Charles and think that she's been dealt a crappy hand several times over. Honestly, the only people who haven't rained on her parade died about a decade or more ago. Despite it all, I love when she finds her confidence and begins putting herself out there a little more. 🤗

She’d come across the ocean to change her life—to have a life. What was life without a few risks?
-- Avery Charles

Our bad boy Dom, Liam (Li) O’Donnell / Lee Donnelly, has a pretty traumatic past. Experiencing it alongside him is painful and has my pulse racing. It's written in a way that is easy to put myself in that flat with him and feel the fear and panic. It's well done.

Early on (and in the prior book), I love the friction that's caused because of the time Li spends with Eve as he works on the mystery of that one night that turned his world upside down. Alex has earned the torment, at least that's how I feel with the limited information that's available up to this point.

Equally fun is the trouble Adam and Jake manage to stir up. They are definitely a source of entertainment! 😂

I do manage to sort out the big twist before it's revealed. That is one heck of a plot twist! I like the extra mayhem that it throws into the mix. And while there's an HEA for the couple, a storyline will continue on.

On Her Master's Secret Service 🌟🌟🌟🌟 .5 -

Lexi Blake Masters and Mercenaries bk 04 On Her Masters Secret Service

To Do It All Over Again

This is the book in the series I've been looking forward to the most. Since first meeting them, I've patiently waited to get here, and it was worth it!

Many moons ago, Eve St. James and Alex McKay not only married but also divorced. The sad and heartbreaking relationship that rises from the ashes of that is barely functional. If you've been reading along in series order, you have seen the unhealthy situationship that they've found themselves in and the perpetual trauma it brings.

This book changes all that.

Oh, they have a ton of work to do, but they both seem to rise to the challenge. (It's about time!)

She needed her husband. God, she needed her Dom so badly.
-- Eve St. James

Eve and Alex finding their way back to each other is sweet, poignant, and steeped in undeniable chemistry. These two do NOTHING the easy way, I swear.

There is plenty of suspense and mayhem (just ask Ian). It kept my attention for certain. I found some of the plot twists to be predictable, but one or two I was a little surprised on. Either way, I suspect I'll revisit at some point, because it is really good.

Love and Let Die 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 -

Lexi Blake Masters and Mercenaries bk 04 Love and Let Die

More than a Memory

I expected to like Big Tag's turn at an HEA, but I didn't expect to love it like I do! I would've thought it unlikely that his would be the one I'd love most so far in the series, but here we are.

Ian (Big Tag) Taggart is about as ornery as they come, but there's been no doubt that, even though she betrayed him, he loved his wife with all his heart and mourned her loss. (If you're reading in order, you'll remember the scene at the club in Alex and Eve's book.)

She’d been Charlotte Marie Taggart for thirty-two days, and she would never have another name because she would never take another man. She belonged to her Master and always would.
-- Charlotte Dennis

From the opening scene in the morgue, my heart started breaking. I mean, Ian Taggart was concerned about her fear of confined spaces when she was (thought to be) dead. 💔😢💔 And the chest pains didn't stop there as we got to know Charlotte (Charlie, Kristen) Dennis / Denisovitch.

The suspense, action, and submission combined to create a book that I was loathed to put down. I didn't want it to end as Ian went from a Dom and operative in control to a man controlled by his 🍆 on several occasions. It was kind of humorous to be honest. Add the excitement and comeuppance at Sanctum and a nail gun and it was absolutely fantastic!

You could probably get away without reading in series order, but there are continuing plotlines. Personally, I'd recommend reading in order.

I have read the first three and I will read the next two. I will review them each separately. One of the issues with reading a bundle like this is that I tend to read them back-to-back. In this case, it really brings out the similarities of plots and characters.

Okay it's a mashup of spy novels, romantic suspense, and erotic romance, and the titles are spoofs of Bond movies. YEAH I one-clicked this. Apparently I really like romantic suspense slash spy shit regardless of what you mix it with? Because hi it's 5:30 in the morning (shout out to my sisters in the Bad Decisions Book Club) and I just found out there's like ten more books in this series LET'S GO.

All of these 5 books have excellent writing, lots of action and suspense, steamy romance scenes (BDSM in flavour), with some humour and lots of engaging characters. A very addictive series.

Masters and Mercenaries Bundle: The Early Ops
The Dom Who Loved Me Book 1
Sean Taggart works for McKay/Taggart a Security firm that also handles some things borderline stuff for the government. A former Green Beret he and two of his former team are hunting down a terrorist.

Grace Hamilton is the administrative assistant for Matt Wright, he runs an employment agency that mostly handles IT contracts. Recently her boss has also started with some janitorial contracts that are handled by Evan Parnell. Grace doesn't care for the man, and has as little contact with him as possible.

Undercover as a possible client, Sean quickly discovers there is something special about Grace. She's older than him but he doesn't care, he has decided to get to know her and when this investigation is over he hopes to win her heart.

Sean interrupts her skinny dipping when he decides to take her up on her offer of a home cooked meal after a dinner meeting with her boss. Things started melting my kindle here.

All is not fun and games though as the stakes get higher. Plenty of action, suspense and emotional drama as they get closer to solving this case.

I just keep turning the pages, I'm so glad I have the collection so I don't have to download the next book!

The Men with the Golden Cuffs Book 2
I fell in love with Adam and Jake in the first book of this series. I love how their relationship is so complex like brothers without the blood connection. When Grace, who is now the receptionist for McKay/Taggart, escorts a possible client to Jake he was immediately overwhelmed with the possibilities and leaves her with Adam in their office. One problem, they weren't sure they believed her.

Serena is an author of erotic/BDSM books. Although she isn't in the lifestyle she has researched it and has some fantasies of her own in that respect. Her husband divorced her over her first book and is now looking to get a piece of her success. He is trying to get money from her in spite of not supporting her at all. On top of all that, she is being stalked and the stalker is escalating.

Now the one thing that the guys didn't know at the time was that Serena's agent is a friend of Ian's and she is the one hiring them. After Ian blows up at them they go to start their bodyguard duties. When she doesn't answer the door, and since they aren't happy with her security, they break in.

I love the dog, he's sweet and not a very good guard dog. Adam and Jake immediately make friends with the dog his mistress however would be another story.

So much isn't adding up, and everyone around Serena becomes a suspect.

I loved the way everything unfolds, including Serena's introduction into the lifestyle. So much intrigue, suspense, with more than one surprise twist and I am seriously glad my kindle didn't melt from these three.

A Dom is Forever Book 3
Being in London is hard for Liam, so close to where his life went to hell. His brother and several others dead before a bomb took out the building. He shouldn't have survived but he did. He just can't remember it all.

Avery has been working for a mostly reclusive philanthropist, Thomas Molina. A man who's decided it's time to be more active in his charity workings. There's something fishy with some of the shipments and someone needs to get close to Avery and see if she's innocent or not.

It's decided that Liam should be the one to approach Avery and the rest of the team settles in as neighbors.

Full of suspense, drama, and sizzle this book has it all, CIA, MI6, plus twists and turns to keep you guessing.

I really love the continuity in these books, the characters are as intriguing as the story itself.

I think I'll just keep reading this series until I'm caught up.

On Her Master’s Secret Service Book 4
In this book we learn the whole story behind Alex and Eve, their marriage, their divorce, their D/s relationship and the love they are both denying.

When Evans turns up on the radar again, all Alex can think about it keeping Eve safe and out of the way. He can't take a chance that she could ever go through that hell again.

Their contact turns out to be a reporter, she'd been sniffing out this story for years. Now she needs Alex and as many of this team as she can get to infiltrate a club she believes is laundering Evans' money. She's managed to get him a position as Dom in Residence for this themed Club and also the ability to bring his own sub.

Now when Eve hears about this, she has her own ideas of who that sub should be. The problem is, how is she going to pull this off.

To say Alex was pissed is an understatement. Unfortunately for him there was nothing to do but accept it. Eve definitely pushes his buttons but really she is a valuable asset in this scenario.

Lots of suspense, action and downright scary moments as this tale unfolds. Plus the love and sizzle between Alex and Eve that runs hot and cold and then white hot as they finally discover what their problems really are.

Love and Let Die Book 5
Now we learn all about Ian's wife and the circumstances surrounding her 'death'. With Charlotte very much alive, Ian is conflicted in more ways than one. His reaction to her was not unexpected at least to my mind.

Even though Ian is somewhat resistant to her overtures, Charlotte isn't one to give up easily. She's spent the last five years doing things to be worthy of Ian's love.

After their initial encounter, Ian has drunk himself into a stupor. Charlotte called Sean to be with him and made her plans to get the team together to discuss taking down Nelson.

When Ian finds out, hungover and all he goes to take care of business.

Lots of suspense, action, snark, fun and sizzling heat in this book.

I'm going to start the next book and catch up to the latest release.

I saw this steal and I one-clicked so fast .

Masters and Mercenaries Bundle: The Early Ops by the incredibly talented author Lexi Blake contains the first 5 full length novels from her Masters and Mercenaries World.
The Bundle includes:

The Dom Who Loved Me: this book is the introduction in the McKay - Taggart world of alpha males and strong heroines.

The Dom Who Loved Me is Sean and Grace´s book.
Sean Taggart works with his brother Ian in security and their last case includes a company where Grace Hawthorne works as PA for the CEO; one of the suspects. Grace is a widow with 2 kids away at college. And now she´s Sean´s target. Sean is tired of the daily struggle and working for the firm. He wants to do something entirely different. And when he gets his hands on sweet innocent Grace all bets are off. Yes, he uses her to gain intel - and that will fall back to his feet later on. But Grace goes the high road and forgives him. I was at the edge of my seat from page one. I reda this book in one sitting, I couldn´t put it down. I recommend The Dom Who Loved Me and give 5 stars.

The second book in the bundle is The Men with the Golden Cuffs, Adam, Jake and Serena´s story.

The Men with the Golden Cuffs is the second book in the Masters and Mercenaries World by Lexi Blake and my absolute favorite read in the series, hands down. I´ve very few favorite books ever, but this is one of them.

Jake Dean and Adam Miles are with McKay - Taggart Security and get assigned to protect author Amber Rose - Serena Brooks from a dangerous stalker. But both men have doubts, is there a stalker or did she stage it by herself?
Serena is a talented author with a wild imagination, a bit weird, but very lovable. She lives in her own world - her own head a lot of the time.
Adam wants his picked fence, family and HEA at all costs and now he thinks Serena is the One. Jake only ever believes the worst, in every situation. He´s a hardened disillusioned warrior, he calls himself the mucle to Adam´s brain. But Jake too can´t witstand the lovely sub´s charm.
These characters connected with me immediatedly, they "speak" to my heart and my soul and I can´t say how much I love their story. Yes I´m a bit obsessed with them. I bought all the foolowing books to get a glimpse at them again.
I highly recommend The Men with the Golden Cuffs and wish I could give more than 5 stars.

The third book is A Dom is Forever, Liam and Avery´s story.

Liam O´Donnell is with McKay - Taggart from the start. He´s a bit a loner, a master in disguise and now his case brings him back to motherland, UK. Liam and Ian Taggart sre still hunting agent Eli Nelson and that puts Avery Charles in their path. Avery is a widow who lost her husband and babydaughter in a horrible accident that left her severely wounded too. She has scars and physical limitations. She works for a man who´s the spies target and that puts her in harms way too.
I love the writing and the story, I love Liam´s character, but somehow I couldn´t connect with Avery. She´s too far away. A Dom is forever gets 4 stars.

Book 4 in the bundle is Her Masters Secret Service, Alex and Eve McKays tragic story.

Alex McKay is the co-founder of McKay - Taggart. He´s a former agent and circumstances let him leave the agency. He was a man fuul of himself, he plowed over his wife´s concern and in the outcome Eve was kidnapped and brutally assaulted. She bears scars and will never be the same again. They are divorced and living in their own hell, day in, day out. When the monster who violated Eve shows up again, everything starts again. She warns the men, but Alex is too stubborn and fears for his precious pride and the madman gets his hands on Eve again.
THis story gutted me to the core. I had more than on ugly cry while reading this heartwrenching and painful story - and I loved every word. 5 stars.

Book 5 in the bundle, Love and Let Die tells - Ian Taggart´s story - finally.

Ian Taggart puts a new meaning in the title alpha-bad-male. He knows exactly what he wants and how to get it. Society and rules are to be neglected and what he wants he gets, ASAP and pronto. He´s a very hard man with a hard core. He lost his wife years ago and ´d like to say that would mellow him a bit, but no no such luck. And then surprise, Charlotte Dennis shows up on his doorstep, his very secured doorstep. Ian can´ßt believe what he sees in front of him. His wife is alive. This hardens him more, a lot more. But Charlotte knows how to melt the ice around his heart, so the thinks. Charlotte herself is a very strong character and when the two crash they CRASH. And they crash a lot.
The whole story is beautifully thought out, told and written and I can´t say how much I love the characters, the alpha doms and the strong, somtime battered heroines. I highly recommend the bundle and wish I could give more than 5 stars.

I have read some of the later Masters & Mercenaries books. I am so glad that I got to read the first 5 books that started the whole series. It was exciting.

The Dom Who Loved Me - Who are Sean Taggart and Ian Taggart? Who is their partner Alexander McKay? What about Liam O'Donnell? What is the service that these men offer? Who is Elliot Lincoln and why is he meeting with them? When I see where Sean would rather be and what he would rather be doing than be in the meeting with Mr. Lincoln, I could not help but to let out a belly laugh. Oh boy Big Tag and Little Tag. Now I understand the nicknames! Wow, some things happened in this book that I totally did not anticipate! You have to read it!

The Men with the Golden Cuffs - In Jake & Adam's story, we meet Serena Brooks. Who is she? Why does she show up at McKay & Taggert Security? Who sent her? What happens when she is there for the initial meeting? Who is Doyle? How does he know Ginny? Who is Ginny? When Jake & Liam go to visit Doyle & have a chat with him, things get really interesting. What happens that lands Adam, Jake, Liam, & Serena at the police station? Who is Storm? Why does he show up at Serena's home? I have to say that Adam's devious side is rather funny to read. It was pure delight to me to see what he did. The first time Serena visits Sanctum, we gete a good feel for Jake and who he is and what he is like as a Dom. I was a bit surprised at what happened when Serena and the guys were leaving Sanctum. I practically jumped. Who are Lara and Brian As we read and find out more about what is going on, it gets more and more interesting. Gotta read to see exactly what happens. Some of it I was iffy on with regards to who was behind things and other parts shocked me.

A Dom Is Forever - In this third book of the series, we get Liam's story. I was excited about this one. Who is Rory? What happened to Liam after a night out with Rory? What does Liam find when he wakes up the next morning? Who is Avery Charles? Who is Thomas Molina? Why are Liam & the gang interested in them? I could not help but to laugh when I saw Liam and Ian go to 'The Garden' and see Damon Knight. It was great to see the crossover in the books. What happens when Serena follows her boys to London? Why did she go? What I learned about Avery's family had me shaking my head and just saying, "Wow..." Who is Brian Molina? What I learned about THomas had my eyebrows halfway up my forehead and me saying, "Oh my..." I am trying to figure out Simon Weston and why it is I do not like him, when he has given me no reason to. The reason suddenliy becomes clear on why I do not like Simon Weston. Ugh! There are some definite unexpected things in this story! Read it and see what happens!

On Her Master's Secret Service - Who is Michael Evans? Why is Alex worried about him? What do we learn about Mr. Evans? We get to focus on Eve and Alex in this book and I've been waiting to see what was going on between those two for a couple of stories now! I was a bit shocked when I found out exactly what Eve had gone thorugh at the time she was not called by the name Eve. We knew her by another name, what was it? What did Eve go through? Why are the folks at McKay-Taggert up before dawn to talk about this Evans character? I love the description about being Ian in a designer suit. It feels odd seeing Simon at McKay-Taggert, but it appears he is a welcome addition, at least for Ian. On one particular breakfast morning date with Liam and Avery, Eve realizes something. What does Avery say that causes Eve to realize this about herself? I am realizing I like Simon more and more as I read this story. When he shows himself to Alex after his meet with someone named Kristen, I was impressed. Who is Kristen? What does she tell us she does for a living? Why are Alex, Eve, and the others called to Sanctum from their various adventures? Why is it Eve is the one that helps with the issue at hand? What has happened? What happens at work before Alex heads to Florida with Kristen? Who is going with him? Who ends up going? I love the ladies and their devious minds! Especially when it comes to helping Eve. Adam has the best line in the book that I could not help but to belly laugh about, "Oh, I love a good plot. Count me in." I was ready to fall off my chair and roll around on the floor, because of the context. I do not like Jesse Murdoch. Who is Chazz? There were a number of very unexpected twists and turns in this story that I did not expect. You have to read to see what I mean!

Love and Let Die - We have heard about Charlotte for a couple of books now. Who is she? When we learn of Nelson's deceptions after what we see at the end of Alex's story, we get a look at Ian's story. Woohoo! Watching Ian as he struggles with himself about Charlotte is hard. Things definitely take some time, and some interesting turns in this story. There were some real shockers to me, completely unexpected and never would have even guessed. There is a sort of cliff hanger in thie story at the end, but not about Ian and Charlotte. I went from hating Charlotte at the beginning to loving her at the end. She's got a great head on her shoulders, much better than I ever thought she'd have. It was interesting seeing an old friend of Ten's in this story where she was not expected to be at. She reminds us about her sister as well. Quite intriguing. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series to see what happens for Damon!

I have been in such a reading rut. I turned to Audible books and luckily that has been working out for me. I have fallen down some amazing listening rabbit holes. One of them is this series. Ryan West does a fantastic job of narrating these books. If you have an Audible Escape membership, the books cost nothing. Otherwise, she has a box set of the first five books. It’s well worth the price of admission. The books are well written and, honestly, they are dirty, filthy delicious. What all the books have in common are a group of mercenaries going places the government can’t or won’t go. All the men are doms and the ladies are submissive. Buckle up, dear readers. If you decide to fall down the rabbit hole, you won’t come up for air anytime soon.

The Dom Who Loved Me
In Sean Taggart’s and Grace Hawthorne’s book, Sean is undercover trying to locate a rogue CIA agent turned terrorist. This brings him to Grace, who is a secretary for the rogue agent’s brother. He is playing a cat-and-mouse game and soon realizes while his job is to get close to her, he is really having strong feelings for her. Grace is full of surprises. What Sean finds out is that Grace has a lot of fantasies of the BDSM Sub/Dom lifestyle. Wouldn’t you know it, Sean is a badass Dom. Lexi Blake weaves an intricate thriller, bullets flying, intrigue, and very hot sex made this listener blush several times.

The Men With The Golden Cuffs
In this installment we get to know Jake and Adam. These guys come as one. Our heroine, Serena Brooks, is an erotic romance writer with the pen name Amber Rose. She is being stalked and turns to McKay & Taggart Security Services for help. Adam and Jacob are looking for the one woman they can love together. Adam thinks Serena is it, but Jake is a little gun shy. Especially because the stalker is using her books to terrorize her. Jake is not so trusting due to complications from a previous relationship. Book 2 is just as thrilling and sexy as the first. I love the three of these characters together. I’m slightly disappointed that the two lead males, who obviously love each other, have no interactions other than double penetrating Serena. I feel like that would have made it more somehow. With that said, I still love the book and these guys with Serena bring the sarcasm to laugh-out-loud moments.

A Dom Is Forever
This is one of my favorite books so far. Liam is on the chase for an arms dealer. He has a past he can’t remember, which leads him back to where things all started. Avery Charles works for the head of a charity organization and Liam needs to get close to her. Avery has her own issues and secrets. This couple rocked my world. Two broken people filling in all the dark spots with light and love really make this book go from great to OMG I will read or listen to it again. There are some major twists and turns to this book. It is, quite frankly, shocking and good. This is an edge-of-your-seat, bite-your-nails, turn-up-the-AC kinda book. The sex is off the charts, the chemistry between the characters will knock your socks off, and the hits are downright painful and not in a good way. After listening to the other books, you know Lexi Blake will make it worthwhile. This is a book that should be read.

On Her Master’s Secret Service
Alex and Eve McKay are divorced. Alex is partners with Ian Taggart. Alex and Eve both used to work for the FBI until one case destroyed everything. Alex was tracking down a serial killer whom Eve did a profile on. Eve begged her husband not to go after him and Alex did as he pleased. The serial killer took Eve and made her suffer for it. This, in turn, put their marriage in a very dark place. Fast forward and the two work together at Mckay & Taggart. Eve still allows Alex to be her Dom, but will not let him have an intimate relationship outside of their lifestyle and sex. Their past is back to haunt them. This really tests their fragile relationship. Alex will protect Eve at any cost. Eve is determined to move on with her life. As Alex goes undercover, Eve wiggles her way into the op and the two must confront their issues and work like hell to find their way back to one another. Also, there are big bombs about Ian Taggart. This book is an emotional, heartbreaking, thrilling, hot, and, most important, the author gave these two characters an ending that was long fought. The stakes are high and the ending is superb.

Love and Let Die
Ian Taggart is so damn grumpy. I should say he is a very sexy, very alpha, very grumpy man. He also has secrets. We find out his secrets in Liam’s book, and, boy, is it a big one. Ian was working on the same op as Liam for the agency. Things went really wrong not only for Liam, but also for the woman Ian married. That’s right people, Ian Taggart married Charlotte Dennis. On that dreadful night he found Charlotte dead. For the past five years, Ian has never been able to forget their short amount of time together. What Ian doesn’t know is that Charlotte is alive and she has been working her way back to him for years. Ian’s nemesis is still out there causing havoc and Ian will not stop until he eliminates him. When Charlotte makes herself known to him, all things go from bad to worse.

These two had some serious problems. Ian is a tough ass and he’s not pleasant. Charlotte has to work overtime to get him to understand all the betrayal and shenanigans that went down. This is a very satisfying book. I love how Ian had to learn to trust her and Charlie had to learn patience. Together they are unstoppable. This book has non-stop action, toe-curling sex, some angst, and a lot of forgiving. Ian and Charlie’s book is everything I thought it could be.

What I love about this series is the closeness this team has. The other team in England will make an appearance in Book 6. The women are smart, funny, and very sexy. You will wish they were real just so you were invited to Sanctum or a girls’ night out. They all look out for each other and they all love hard. I am currently listening to Book 6, and Damon Knight is one sexy Brit. I hope you give the series a chance. It’s well written and extremely sexy.

I Love This Series!

The Dom Who Loved Me
Sean Taggert is sent in to get close to Grace Hawthorne and see if she’s involved with an eco terrorist. He and Grace get really close and his boss/brother, Ian, pulls him out fearing he’s lost his objectivity. Grace’s life is in jeopardy and the team at McKay Taggart have there hands full. I loved Grace’s stubbornness and ability to handle Sean and Ian. Sean is yummy and he can cook! This is a great start to a wonderful series.

The Men With The Golden Cuffs
Adam and Jake like to share their woman. They are hired to protect Serena, a writer of ménage books. She has a nasty stalker who is escalating. Ian warns them not to get involved with the client but our guys can’t help themselves. There is lots of drama and action and Ian, who is his sarcastic self. I love the McKay-Taggart Family!

A Dom Is Forever
Liam O’Donnell finally meets a woman who makes him think Sean, Adam and Jake aren’t as crazy as he thought they were. Avery Charles has been through so much tragedy in her short life but has fought her way to the other side and sees the good in people, especially Lee Donnelly (Liam’s cover name on this op). The team is in England on the hunt for Eli Nelson who is associated with Avery’s Boss. This book has lots of action, intrigue and steamy sex? Lots of secrets are revealed in this book too! Shocking secrets!

On Her Master’s Secret Service
Alex McKay and Eve St James have been dancing around each other since her kidnapping, rape and torture by a criminal being hunted by Alex. Eve divorced him after he chose to seek revenge and kept his distance emotionally. They both worked with Ian and the team and had a D/s contract but there was no real emotion there. After 5 years Alex gets info on the jerk he’s looking for from a woman named Kristen. She has everything set up to capture this man. Alex goes in as Dom In Residence and Eve goes in as his slave. Sean is the cook. Of course things get crazy! This book has lots of twists and turns. Lots of steamy scenes and a whopper of a shock at the end!

Love And Let Die
Absolutely amazing book! We finally get Ian’s story! His “dead” wife, Charlotte (aka Charlie aka Kristen), shows up at his door and turns his world upside down. While Ian tries to deny his feelings for his wife, everyone he loves becomes a target thanks to Charlotte’s Russian mobster uncle who thinks she killed her father thanks to Eli Nelson. This book has lots of laughs. Ian is hilarious and sarcastic and Charlotte is his perfect match with her sarcasm and spunk. It is also action packed and the sexy heat between these two is off the charts. We find out more secrets about the Taggart family and I can’t get enough of this series no matter how many times I read it!

The start of one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE series!!

Here are the reviews for each book - this entire series is AMAZING and one I will reread over and over again but these first five books will always hold a special place in my heart!! #OriginalMcKayTaggartCrew

The Dom Who Loved Me

Where it all begins....

Masters and Mercenaries is one of my all time favourite series (and with 21 books and counting, you know it's a great series when readers have stuck with it for so long)!! I adore Grace and Sean's story and love that we don't start with Ian - despite him being one of the bosses of McKay-Taggart and the owner of BDSM club Sanctum - but that we get to know him through his brother. Sean is a man who never thought he'd settle down until Grace becomes involved in a case involving her boss... and Grace is widowed mother to two college boys and never thought she'd get a chance to find love again. This book has all the heat, all the romantic suspense, all the laughs and lots of feels... and starts off an overarching plot that you'll want to see through to the very end!!

The Men With the Golden Cuffs

When you don't have to make a choice between TWO amazing men!!

When I first read this book a few years ago, it was my first (or close to my first) ménage story and I absolutely fell in love with the idea of having TWO MEN to take care of a woman's every needs. I loved getting to know Adam and Jake after meeting them in Book 1 (and seeing Adam majorly stuff up with Grace!) and Serena is the perfect woman to balance the brooding alpha and the fun-loving romantic. Add in a thrilling storyline that had me guessing until the last moment, plus some HILARIOUS moments between Adam and Ian and this is a story I will reread time and time again!!

A Dom is Forever

This Irishman has some secrets....

Liam always struck me as someone who would have one hell of a story to tell and I wasn't wrong!! Taking us to London (and introducing us to some side characters who we will come to know and love), we meet Liam's eventual love Avery - a woman who has had one tough road to bring her to where she is today. As Liam works the op to plant himself into Avery's life, we discover that all is not what it seems... but with a good dose of BDSM, some thrilling scenes, some hot action and some massive secrets... the ending is worth waiting for!!

On Her Master's Secret Service

The second chance we've been waiting for!!

Alex and Eve intrigued me from the moment we met them in book 1... a divorced couple who had worked together at the FBI but were torn apart by some major trauma, a couple who now worked together at McKay-Taggart by day and scened together at BDSM club Sanctum at night... I knew their story would captivate me and I wasn't wrong!! We learn the truth of what happened to Eve and why her marriage to Alex fell apart. We see them try to find another once more when the man responsible for Eve's trauma is back ... and we meet a lady who is going to make the next book INCREDIBLE!!!!

Another fabulous addition to one of my all time favourite series!!

Love and Let Die

Ian meets his match!

Ian holds a special place in my heart - he is a one of kind man and one of my all time favourite Book Boyfriends. And this story is everything I wanted and then some!! Charlotte - his dead wife whom Ian didn't even tell his brother he had married! - arrives on Ian's doorstep and sends shockwaves through Ian's life!! But this woman, she is the perfect match for Ian ... if only she hadn't betrayed Ian 5 years before and sided with him enemy (not that Charlotte knew it was Ian's enemy at the time!). Get ready for an action-packed, sexy story which finally wraps up the anatagonist arc that began in book 1 (The Dom Who Loved Me).

This was a reread for me - via audio - and I can tell you I loved every single second!!!!!

Romance trope: bdsm; romantic suspense
Series: Masters and Mercenaries
Length: 1883 pages

This collection includes:

The Dom Who Loved Me: (Sean and Grace) - Grace is the office assistant for someone involved in an investigation that Sean's security firm is conducting. There is definitely something shady going on, and Sean isn't sure if Grace is involved or not. Regardless, he can't seem to stay away.

The Men With the Golden Cuffs: (Adam, Jacob, and Serena) - Serena needs a security firm to watch over her because she's being stalked. The problem is that nobody seems to believe her. Adam and Jacob have always known they would share a woman long-term, and at least one of them is convinced that Serena is that woman. But when all the evidence points to Serena setting up her own crisis, will they stand by her?

A Dom Is Forever: (Liam and Avery) - Avery is the personal assistant to a person of interest in an investigation. Liam is the agent trying to figure out how a philanthropist is involved in shady dealings. He's also an unrepentant player who isn't sure that Avery is the one for him - is she innocent or pretty enough?

On Her Master's Secret Service: (Alex and Eve) - I think this might be the story I was most interested in. Alex and Eve were a married couple, and then Eve was kidnapped and raped by

Love and Let Die: (Ian and Charlotte) - Ian and Charlotte were married years ago, nearly secretly, but it was a short-lived marriage because Charlotte was killed. Or not. She's back now and is looking for forgiveness from Ian for her deception. He's not sure he wants that though. Guess Charlotte will have to try a little harder.

One thing I didn't like about several of these books is that the guys have no problem misleading and sleeping with a woman if it helps them in their investigation. It's gross. I understand intellectually - national security and all that (even though they're not exactly government anymore, yeah?) - but it's still awful to play with the feelings of innocent civilians.
Jake scooted out of the booth, his beer finished. “You know what you have to do, Sean. It won’t be the first time you’ve taken one for the team. I don’t understand why you’re so reluctant. Seriously, if you don’t want to sleep with Grace, we don’t mind.”
“Really? Besides my name and my vocation, what lies have I told you?”
(where to start??!)

I think though, that I had the most problem with the second story. The guys were pretty awful to her when they thought she lied to him:
“Serena, don’t make this hard. You know you want to forgive us. We were wrong. We were complete assholes, but you saw that evidence. Come on, baby, let’s get through this meeting with Ian and then we’ll take you out to breakfast, which is exactly what we should have done in the first place. It’s what Adam wanted to do.”
("we were horrible. forget all that" lol)
“Let it alone, Jake. You want me to forgive you. Fine. I forgive you, but I can’t forget that the first time you had the slightest doubt about me, you were ready to toss me to the wolves. I asked for one thing, Jake. A little kindness when you were done.” His face became as hard as granite. “I’m not done, Serena. And I’m sorry to shatter your illusions, but I’m not particularly kind, either. And you know what, you gave as good as you got, sister.”
And he was starting to get truly angry with her. They had done everything they could over the past forty-eight hours to make things up to her. They had treated her with tenderness and deep concern. They’d seen to her every need.

Another thing I disliked is that the guys were often unforgiving of the women's lack of knowledge. Several of them had little to no prior knowledge/experience of bdsm, and the guys knew that but would still get mad at them for not knowing something or not complying with something they didn't understand. It didn't sound like the best situation.
“Stop it.” His voice was a sharp bark, and his arm went around her waist. “I’m not putting up with that. We’re going to get the rules in place before we get started.” “Let me go, Sean.” She didn’t want to hear about his rules. “No.” When Grace looked up at him, he seemed a bit savage. “Did you treat your last Dom like this, sweetheart? Did he let you manipulate him? That won’t happen with us.”
(he hadn't even asked her about her experience yet)

This is how Liam described Avery when he first saw her: "Her hair was brown, and she was mildly attractive in a bland sort of way. She was a little chunky. Her boobs were probably C cups, and they were natural because they sagged a bit." I'm overwhelmed by how stunned he is /sarcasm. He mentions her not being beautiful in one way or another five or six times (she's beautiful without her clothes on, how could he have thought she wasn't beautiful, he was used to prettier and skinnier women, etc.).
She let a nasty smile curl her lips up. “You thought I was plain and a little fat, didn’t you?”
His eyes closed briefly and those hands on her shoulders tightened as though he was afraid of letting her go. “Why does it matter? I think you’re gorgeous now.”
“Fine, I thought you were a bit overweight and uninteresting, but that was my problem. That was coming from a man who barely got a woman’s name before he screwed her and walked out the door and started looking for the next warm body that didn’t matter.

So while I enjoyed the romantic suspense part, and could have handled the bdsm (with a little more conversation ahead of time, please), I couldn't handle the absolute lack of not just grovel, but decent apology when the guys messed up - and they did mess up in spectacular ways, as far as I'm concerned. The guys were generally a$$holes for most of the book and they were so unapologetic about it. I know some people like heroes like that. Guess I'm not one. (although strangely, in each book, the heroes from the previous book are wonderful. They just couldn't be wonderful in their own stories)

One thing I did like was that the headquarters for the security firm was in my hometown - I spent some time figuring out landmarks and routes, stuff like that.

Excellent series

The review of book 1, 2, and 3 is separate books.

Book 4
Eve and Alex’s story is filled with suspense, action, love and suffering.

The feelings in these books is coming through constantly, I’m addicted and want to keep reading and reading.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
Characters is developed in to realistic personalities that has me feeling like I know them.
I think the author has build a world I would like to follow. She’s building a family feeling with people who are different but care very much for each other.
The chemistry between Eve and Alex is hot and that makes some good scenes.

This series is perfect for me, 5 stars

Book 5

Ian and Charlotte’s story is exiting and full of action, I loved it.

No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
I find that the author created a world with so many great characters and some surprising turns in the story.

Couldn’t put it down.

I had originally got the first book in the series for free and it got me hooked. As soon as I had more money I bought this box set. It was everything I could want in a book/series!

Passion, adventure, drama, love and some really hot sex! I couldn’t put it down. I read it every chance I had. I could see it all. Lexi’s attention to detail makes the imagery leap off the page. Her characters draw you in. The suspense will keep you going ‘just one more chapter’ and then you realize you’ve read 5 books in less than a week.

Lexi brings in a unique sense of humour that had me laughing out loud on the bus and in a doctor’s office. The women aren’t just weak ones needing constant saving. They’re willing to do anything to protect the men they love and the family they’ve built.

I definitely recommend this, but don’t get grumpy when you don’t sleep because you just can’t put it down!

3.5, 2, 5, 4, 2 stars

Book 1 Sean and Grace 3.5 stars - really liked Sean and Grace, but Sean acted like a real jerk and I don't think he apologized enough..
Book 2 Serena, Adam and Jake 2 stars - loved Serena, Adam and Jake needed to be smacked upside the head, especially Jake.
Book 3 Avery and Liam 5 stars - loved Liam and Avery, so happy he never doubted her and Avery was so strong.
Book 4 Eve and Alex 4 stars - loved Alex and Eve, took one star off because there was way too much spy stuff.
Book 5 Charlie and Ian 2 stars - I really liked Charlie and how she tried so hard for redemption, liked her in book 4 also. Ian was a complete jerk, treated her like crap for most of the book. I haven't been a fan of Ian thru the first 4 books either, he is a jerk. Maybe if I read the next book he'll be better from being around Charlie?!

Masters and Mercenaries Bundle

Ok - I have read these five books. It was slow going but I preserved and got through them all. It was interesting to read how each member of McKay-Taggart found their mates. Sean's story was the saddest but I am so happy that both he and Grace survived. Then there is Ian's sad story in the beginning where his wife died or so he thought. When Charlie makes a comeback, it is a truly intriguing story of Ian trying to ignore his feelings for his wife. Throughout this entire series, we get to know Eli Nelson for the traitor he was. So glad all of the trash was taken care of. Great job Lexi! I would recommend this bundle of you are into BDSM.

This is a great buy you get all the books at once. They were sexy, smart and well written. It shows that you don't have to be blood to be a family. Some of the must loyal ,faithful and always have your back people are the family you choose to make. These men are all hot as hell, sexy, passionate and ready to kick some butt. What more could you ask for in a Dom? The women in this series are not push overs either. They are strong , independent, and resourceful women. No meek women in this series they can kick butt and be resourceful in a crisis. Plenty of hot ,passionate and wild sex included in these books. I can wait to start the spin off books.

SUSPENSEFUL AND ADDICTING READ

Wasn't too sure what to expect when I first started this book. Author did a fantastic job of creating an intriguing group of characters; both good and evil. These stories are so very intense, suspenseful and full of ongoing action. The authors use of innuendos, misdirection and fast moving pace create an addiction to an avid reader. Once you start, very difficult to put down. Not only surprised but totally hooked on this read and it's characters.

Very Good Read

I fell in love with the Taggart McKay family from book one. Ian is moody and snarky. Slowly we find out why. This book was so tense but I couldn't put it down. I felt connected to the plot and the constant drama. These characters are so life like that your emotionally engaged. Lexi Blake takes you on an emotionally charged adventure of cat and mouse mixed with the sexiest men a girl wishes were real. I laughed out loud and I cried. This series is worth every minute of missed sleep because I just couldn't put it down.

I love this series! It has a little of everything I enjoy in a book. Hot romance, BDSM, intrigue, suspense, action, drama, occasional comic relief. It has it all without too much of any one thing. 5 stars for all 5 books. Can't wait to read book 6. How is Damon going to be taken down by love? I like Damon a lot so am excited to see what happens with him and Penelope. I want to read Simon's story soon too. So many great characters in this series. Wish I'd found it earlier!

5 books, interwoven with key characters who are fun, rich in spirit, combinations of strength and uncertainty. Family by friendship if not by blood. Each book can be a stand alone, but, together, wow!! Former special ops, many now employed in a specialized security firm. Very sexy with some mild BDSM and a lot of intrigue. Page turner! I hated to see the books end but the story continues in the series. Bravo!!

Great erotic,romance,mystery

I had read the first book in the series and thoroughly enjoyed it. Found the. Bundle and got deeper into Leo's series good plots, although we know from the start who the bad guy is. Bad guys multiply as do the good guys. Very heavy on D/s and erotica, but plenty of excitement to hold the reader. However will not indulge in the whole series at this point. $$$$$$

Highly recommended to start with the first five books so you know where and how and what they are and the storyline behind them. I stumbled across this author through a crossover between two different authors. Immediately hooked couldn't put it down plenty intrigue plenty of mystery and twists and most of all you fall for all the characters and romance is off the charts.

Great set

This is a collection of five full-length books in a series. Each book focuses on different team members so they are not cliffhangers. There is sexy attraction, plenty of heat with BDSM elements, and danger. The characters reappear but each gets their own HEA.

Individually I gave book one 4 stars, book two 5 stars, book three 4 stars, book four 5 stars and book five 4.5 stars.

Someone recommended this series to me, but I just couldn't get into it. Not enough angst and the way the Sean and.... see can't even recall the heroine's name. UGH! I didn't like how fast they fell all over each other. It just wasn't my thing. I got the box set and I'm not even going to continue to read the rest.

Big baddies can't stop these masters...

These books grab you because these characters are so realistic you feel like you know them. I read the first three books ages ago, but when this bundle was on sale and had two more I had missed I even reread the first three. The storylines are smart and twisty and oh so sexy.

This is one of my favorite series and getting this bundle with the first 5 books is an awesome way to start this series. If you love romantic suspense with BDSM thrown in that is safe, sane and consensual, this is what you want to read. Lexi Blake has created a series that is so good, you won't be able to put this collection down so plan for an all day read!
