Ya'll, I should have expected not a lot of things from a free book. But I expected something better. This whole book is cliché, and while sometimes I like that, this one offered me NOTHING new to make it better. Audrey is naive and struggling, Blake is the classic sweet-nerd-turned-hot, and the story has been done to death. Single mom is struggling since her boyfriend left her, a nice hero steps in and helps, and even her rude family manages to play nice in the end. What made me mad, though, was how Blake and Audrey interacted. For a girl that got dumped after being in a serious relationships, she should have been WAY wary of Blake. But no, she fell right at his feet and Blake acted on the, "oh my goodness, she finally likes me!" feeling WAY too soon. And the ending? I'm sorry, but I just couldn't get past this. I love me some cheesy Hallmark movies, but this doesn't even make the cut for me. Poor characterization, cliché story, I'm out.
I liked the relationship between Blake & Audrey. Her ex comes back onto the scene & tries to take over her life again. Blake takes care of that. It's a nice, short read. I received the book for free. This is my voluntary review.
I enjoyed reading this book. I wanted to give this book 5 stars; but how the book finished made me pull a star back. I liked very much the premise of the book. I found all the characters in the book interesting and I especially liked Audrey and Blake the main characters in the book. Leading up to the finish the pace of the book felt fine; but suddenly you were done. It seemed that suddenly the situation with Tony was done. And then suddenly the book was done. I expected to hear more about the conversion of Audrey's parents. It seems there was the formulation of a plan; but then suddenly things were good.
This is a short, sweet romance. I really liked Audrey McAllister and her being brave enough to return home and ask her parents for help when she needed it. I also enjoyed the message this story sent that family is what really matters most and not money and that letting God into your life can help people change and become better. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I enjoyed this short story. Audrey needs someone like Blake to help her through this transitioning period. Her mother and father, although they help her with money, are not compassionate people and think now that Audrey is back, they can run her life. Blake is everything Audrey needs and more, and he does not disappoint.
We've all heard the story before - the Geek in high school falls for the rich kid. Well, in this book, the rich kid comes home because she is out of money and needs help from her parents. The Geek recognizes her but she doesn't recognize him until he describes himself from school. He's no longer the Geek...he's the protector. Looking forward to more from this author.
I enjoyed this book because it reminded me that lives are changed by Love one person at a time and bring families closer to each other. The love of God transforms tragedy into good.
