NIV, The Books of the Bible: The Prophets: Listen to God’s Messengers Proclaiming Hope and Truth

Immerse Yourself in Scripture in a Whole New Way!

The Books of the Bible is a fresh yet ancient presentation of Scripture.

As many distractions as possible have been eliminated so readers can experience each book the way its authors intended. No more chapter and verse numbers. No more study notes. No more cross references or footnotes. No more red letters.  Natural section breaks have been adjusted to reveal the inherent structure, showing the contours of each book in a way that traditional chapter-and-verse Bibles do not. The books of the Bible are arranged in an order that helps you see the unfolding drama more easily. Book introductions are included to prepare you for a more in-depth reading experience. These “invitations” tell the story behind the story, unlocking the context of the book you’re about to read. The New International Version (NIV) is an accurate, readable and clear translation with the goal of delivering the same Bible reading experience today that the first recipients of Scripture would have had in their native languages.

In NIV, The Books of the Bible, The Prophets readers will listen to God’s messengers proclaim hope and truth by reading the Hebrew prophets in an historical order. The Prophets uses Scripture from the world’s bestselling modern-English translation, the New International Version.

The Bible books included are:

Jonah Amos Hosea Micah Isaiah Zephaniah Nahum Habakkuk Jeremiah Obadiah Ezekiel Haggai Zechariah Joel Malachi

The Prophets is part 2 (of 4) of The Books of the Bible, which is a part of the church wide-campaign, The Community Bible Experience.

This is volume 2 of the four volume set which makes up the newest version of the NIV translation of the bible. It is part of the church wide “ Community Bible Experience “ and I discovered it when our church encouraged the members to read through volume 4 together. The church teaching was based on the corresponding passages each week with the aim being to cover the New Testament in 16 weeks. I liked it so much I bought the other 3 volumes and am now working my way through them. Volume 2 covers the Prophets and like the other books, arranges them in chronological order. Chapter and verse numbering has been removed so that the books read more like they would have originally. I found it really helpful and much more meaningful than for previous occasions when I tried to wade through the prophetic books with little understanding of the background to each of the situations and setting of the books. ( maybe I’m just older and wiser). I would highly recommend this series and suggest you start as I did with volume 4 ( the New Testament). Just the Writings to go now, volume 3.

The whole section of the Prophets word for word from the NIV but without the chapter and verse and without headings. It did throw me off a little that the books were not in the order of which they appear in the Bible, but other than that, it was a great read - just the Bible itself.

2nd book in this books through the Bible. This one specifically is the Old Testament and Prophets… So it was a little more difficult to read with my girls, but it is broken up so well and does a good job introducing and somewhat explaining what is happening

Excellent Work!!

I really enjoyed reading the Scriptures without the chapter headings and verse numbers. It helps you see the context of what was written so much better.
