I own Alberta Food Tours Inc. and write about food and travel for all forms of media.
After interviewing Noorbanu Nimji for CBC radio, I became her recipe testing, co-author and production editor. We spent 9 joyous years writing our cookbook, released it in December of 2015 and were rewarded with Silver Medals at both the Independent Publishers Book Awards and the Taste Canada Awards for outstanding Canadian food writing.
My current projects include a new Indian cookbook with my photographer Pauli-Ann Carriere and a book for Touchwood Editions called Food Artisans of Alberta.
I'm passionate about connecting people with the source of their food and the joy of cooking and sharing it.
This is a great book for anyone new or old to Alberta! I want to take this book on a food (and drink) tour around the province. A little bit of gold from all the regions! An interesting read, that is inspiring to the reader. Encourages eating fresh food and knowing where your food comes from, and it being sustainable.
This book is separated by regions and the two major cities - Northern Alberta, Edmonton, Central Alberta, Calgary, The Rocky Mountains, Southern Alberta. You learn a little bit of background on the people who own the businesses/shops/farms. It is really interesting to know that people from all over the world have come to Alberta to start their fresh food. Lots of families or people who are multi-generational Albertans as well!
