I'd describe this book as follows:
50% information
50% racist overtones and suggestions
Keep in mind:
This book was published in the 1960s.
However, I have problems with sentences like this:
The Maori will become less of a cultural minority and more of a racial-ethnic, lower social class minority group with a status similar to that of the Mexican in the southwest and of the Negro in the north of the United States.(pg 134).
While a dated book, overtones like this are found throughout. I find it problematic. Generalizations are tossed about here and there as if every Maori youth has the same future. I'm definitely not a fan of the 1960s writing. But mushed in between some of these terrible moments are bits of good information.
