Book 1 In the Garden Trilogy As far as Mick Love was concerned, the tornado that had devastated tiny Jardin, Louisiana, had nothing on the tempestuous, wildly beautiful Lorna Dorsette. Mick had come all the way from Mississippi to help restore her aunt's ruined plantation - not for a whirlwind romance with a fiery, Bible-quoting blue blood who had more secrets than the murky bayou.

Mick Love arrives in the tiny town of Jardin, Louisiana, after a devastating tornado to help clean the mess left behind. Arriving at one of the old historic homes, he meets beautiful and fiery Lorna Dorsette, who believes Mick’s tree service is an answer to prayers. Mick does not know how to respond, especially when he realizes he is attracted to her. Soon, however, he sees the fear and wariness behind Lorna’s expression and vows to reach through it to help her overcome her fear.
Lorna has been through a lot in her life beginning with the death of her parents when she was a young girl and most recently with the tornado. She prayed for help after the storm, but she is sure that help does not extend to allowing Mick Love into her life. She is attracted to Mick, but she is afraid to let him get close. Would Mick understand the fear and trauma of her past, or would he be embarrassed and leave her at the first opportunity? It will take faith and courage for these two to see what is standing right in front of them.
I loved this book. The two characters are amazing. Both are strong characters with just enough flaws to make them believable, but not to many to make them hard to like. Mick is one of my favorite heroes. I love the way he determinedly, but considerately, works to help Lorna overcome her fears, while strengthening his faith in the process. I absolutely love the last chapter of the book. The scene between the two main characters is touching. I also love the Christian message of faith and trusting in God throughout the entire book. For me, it added so much to the story and to the characters. The journey of Mick and Lorna coming to rely on God’s promise to never leave is an amazing and engaging story.
Overall, this an amazing book with a wonderful story and two lovable characters. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes inspirational romance.
I liked the characters and story. Mick wonders why Lorna seem wary. Why does she keep her light on at night? I cheered for Lorna's learned bravery. However, I wonder at Mick's statement to Lorna about why some people died. "Because God needed them."I cannot think of support for that, so is it what some people just say?
