Encyclopedia Of World History

FROM THE EARLIEST times, humankind has fought for survival - on both an individual and a global scale. As the centuries passed, these survival skills were developed and eventually turned towards improving and enhancing our quality of life. Curiosity about the world around us and a desire for understanding what seems a mystery trigger inventions within the realms of science, technology and industry. A need to develop increasingly sophisticated methods not only of self-preservation but also of exploration, entertainment, and personal development, have led to discoveries that have at first revolutionized the world and then become an accepted part of it.

At first I liked this in terms of how topics were split out into themes. But then I read the women’s lib explanation that was so pitifully wrong that it threw into question the rest of the book. No women’s lib wasn’t a rejection by women of the importance of raising children.
