Howie loves doing his homework but for a whole week he doesn't bring it saying that a dragon took it. His friends go to check it out and run across some sort of beast (maybe a dragon maybe an albatross) and it was sitting on treasure but not gold or gems but instead all the homework that it stole. Howie and his friends follow a man dressed all in silver and find stolen homework. The man is just trying to get a photo of the beast.

pro homework propaganda, this version of the series isn't as good I think anyone old enough to read this would have no problem with the main series.

I liked this book, I thought it was very creative. I figured out what was taking the homework fairly early on, but it would be good to have my students write down their predictions of what took the hw and to number which page made them first feel that way. I would use this book to practice making predictions with my students. I liked the ending when they described the giant-scaled albatross (bird) from the Dragonian Island. This book included some otomotpias near the end. I liked how this book slowly unfolded and kept the mystery going.

I read this with my little First Grader(who's only 6), who has since read 3 more beginner chapter books, a book a day! I think this kid is taking after his mom! Makes my heart happy to see him buried in a book... I didn't expect him to be reading these beginning chapter books independently so soon. I figured we'd read a few more together before that, but it's so cute to see him reading a bunch now... he even has a little reading light (he sneaked from his dad) to read in bed at night... definitely a kid after my own heart!

Dragons do eat homework. Honestly. I loved the silliness behind having a little guy enjoy homework so much, he thinks it's treasure made me laugh. I think this book would be a good book for 1st-2nd grades to introduce chapter books. It was funny and pretty simple to follow. I would like to keep this book in my classroom.

Emme just finished reading her second chapter book! This one was perfect for her, and the story was silly and engaging. This is a great series.
