Describes the fundamental techniques of Scottish knitting and provides patterns for knitting a variety of garments, including jackets, mittens, jerseys, and tam-o'-shanter caps
This is The ONE if you want to know the ins and outs of "Fair Isle" technique. This covers the styles of the entire Shetland islands, and perhaps the distinctions aren't a clear as one would like to believe, but by the time you read the text (only 64 pages), you will know how to apply the remaining pattern notebook and create your own magical blend of colours. I prefer this presentation of classic technique and application by experimentation rather than the more recent books that (in my opinion) over-compensate with pages and pages of photos and very little real substance.
