This is a historical fiction children's book, intended for children 7-9 years of age. This book is about the journey the mayflower took, from England to America. This book is great for teaching children about the mayflowers journey. The book highlights, difficult words for teaching and for students to review. The book also includes endnotes with illustrations, of items they used on their journey. The illustrations for this book are also very fun, bright, and enjoyable for kids. I also like the transition the book does in the beginning of the book, from modern clothing to Pilgrim clothing on the other side of the page. I do wish the book talked more about what kids did on the mayflower, since it seemed like the book would talk about, what kids jobs were on the mayflower. I believe this story appeals to children's imagination, where they can Imagine themselves on the mayflower with the other children. When reading this in the classroom, I can stop on all the red highlighted words to ask the students what that word means. 12/9/2023
