With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Rick and Mandy might have chocolate kisses and blushing roses in mind, but instead they’re drawn into a new case by NYC FBI Chief Hernandez when his daughter’s favorite author bites the dust.
Up and coming graphic novelist Eve Wellington has been murdered, and no one’s more surprised than she is to find herself newly dead.
The list of suspects who wanted to erase the self-styled cartoon diva includes rival artists, exhausted editors, and overworked assistants, but it’s the trail of a white rabbit that ultimately leads New York’s premiere paranormal pair to the killer in this wonder-full 11th installment of the Manhattan Mystery Series.
Wicked in Wonderland is part of the Paranormal in Manhattan Mystery series. If you like fast-paced mysteries full of quirky characters and unexpected twists, you're gonna love this book.
Love all the quirky characters. Fun, quick read with all the normal cast of characters along with a ghost who doesn't know she's a ghost. And a white rabbit! You'll have to read it to find out more!
I received a ARC copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.
Another Laugh out loud cozy mystery that you just can't put down until the end!
This is the 11th book in this incredible series and it is just as much fun and fast paced as the previous books of this series! Mandy and Rick are preparing for a romantic Valentines Day when their boss FBI Chief Hernandez gives them a case they must solve. It seems Hernandez's daughter loved the new up and coming author, Eve Welllington, but unfortunately she is murdered. Rick, Mandy and their ghost guardian, Jackie, have crazy time on their hands trying to solve Eve's murder - especially since Eve doesn't believe she is a ghost and doesn't seem to remember anything helpful for the Husband and Wife duo although with digging into Eve's life they find a plethora of likely suspects. This is a humorous, fast paced mystery that has you reading and laughing to the end! I Love this entire series and anyone that likes a good cozy mystery with lots of humor and twists and turns and crazy characters will love this series like I do.
Eve Wellington is an up-and-coming graphic novelist. While walking home after being out partying, Eve is attacked and stabbed.
Amanda "Mandy" and Rick Rowling have been tasked with informing Eve that she is deceased, in addition to discovering who killed her and why. Unfortunatley, Eve does not remember very much from that night. To make matters worse, in addition to her assistants and her editors, Eve imagines that there are millions of fans who would want to kill her, since she just killed off one of their favorite characters.
Can Eve provide any usable and reliable clues to her murder? Can Mandy and Rick discover who killed Eve? Why was she killed?
This is a great book; this is the eleventh book in the Paranormal in Manhattan Mystery Series written by Lotta Smith. This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read it you will defiantly want to go back and catch up with the other book in this series. The list of suspects who wanted to erase the self-styled cartoon diva includes rival artists, exhausted editors, and overworked assistants, but it’s the trail of a white rabbit that ultimately leads New York’s premiere paranormal pair to the killer . This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Well we join Mandy and Rick on another murder investigation, this time at the request of the FBI and the New York Police Department. Chief DeLaurentis and FBI agent Sheldon Hernandez were once married, (their daughter is a fan of murder victim Eve Wellington), they requested Mandy and Rick's help with the investigation. You know because Mandy can see and talk to ghosts. But Eve doesn't even know she's dead let alone who killed her. Mandy leaves Jackie, her fairy god ghost, in charge of Eve while they follow up on leads to her murder. They go to Eve's house. There they find a house full of flowers, and a rabbit along with three assistants and Eve's sister. Later her Editor and literary rival show up and are questioned. This adventure was as entertaining as any of Ms. Smith's books. I just love to follow Rick and Mandy and when you throw in Jacki well we gotta party. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Mandy and Rick are asked to assist the FBI and police in solving the murder of a young and successful writer. When they arrive at the scene weeks after the crime they encounter the ghost of the victim who doesn’t even know she’s a ghost. Trying to elicit information from the young drama queen proves to be difficult at best since she claims there are thousands of people that would murder her, she is that hated. With that nugget of information they begin their search for the murderer.
This is a nice addition to this quirky series. Despite the murder theme there are touches of humor throughout the book and you’ll find yourself chuckling and fighting an eye roll with Rick.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Wicked in Wonderland by Lotta Smith is another great addition to the Paranormal in Manhattan Mystery series.
Mandy, Rick and Jackie are back to help a graphic novelist who was recently murdered. I found Evie to be self-centered and a drama queen; but she was also naive and quirky. It takes both Mandy and Rick to decipher the clues in this quickly paced mystery. There were plenty of suspects, including Brian, who, according to Evie, wanted to kill her but did they? It's a white rabbit that shows Rick who actually did the deed. The reveal was surprising as I never guessed who the actual murderer was until then.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.
Rick and Mandy are back to work when New York City's FBI Chief Hernandez. So much for a romantic Valentine's Day. Eve Wellington, an up and coming graphic artist somehow ended up dead. Even Eve is having problems believing it! Seems like the list of suspects is not a short one, since Eve had just killed off one of her most loved characters. Eve doesn't remember much of anything that is helpful to Rick and Mandy. This book will have you laughing as Rick and Mandy try to find the killer and help Eve 'move on'. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. The review is my own opinion.
In this installment of the Paranormal in Manhattan book Wicked in Wonderland Rick and Mandy are investigating the murder of the young graphic artist Eve. Eve was murdered on her way home on evening from a party. This is not an easy task as the graphic artist has so many people who dislike the self-centered drama queen. This is a real page turner with the right mix of fun and mystery. I received an advanced readers copy and I voluntarily leave this review.
Eve Wellington is an up-and-coming graphic novelist. Unfortunately, Eve is attacked and stabbed while walking home. Mandy and Rick investigate Eve's murder. . This case is not easy to solve as there is a long list of possible suspects. It seems that Eve has alienated a lot of people. I found this to be an enjoyable story! I received an arc of this book.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest and voluntary review. I love the characters in this book especially Mandy because she can talk to ghosts and sometimes that helps her and her husband to solve the cases they are working on. This is book eleven in the series and I hope not the end because I would love to see more of Rick and Mandy.
Rick and Mandy are on yet another mysterious case the police have no clue as to who has committed it, with no evidence either. Though with Mandy's gift they have a better chance than anyone else. Liked the story but I thought it could have been more elaborate in it's details.
It was a quirky and fun read, as usual! I did miss Jackie a bit; she only made an appearance at 40% of the book. In saying that, admittedly Mandy and Rick made a pretty good story on their own. I did guess whodunit right. But still, it was so good; I read it in one go.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.
This was an awesome read. I love the main character and all the rest too including the ghosts. Well worth the time to read. Can't wait for future stories. I received a ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. Great writing!!
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! Mandy + Rick are at it again. Another murder to solve. This time the victim does not believe that she is a ghost. I have to say that this time I could not really believe who the murder was. There were so many things that she could have done. When is Mandy going to get pregnant? Would that affect her powers? I would totally like to see Rick's reaction when he finds out. ( Twins ? ) Loved the storytelling + the characters!
Eve and Rick investigate the murder of a graphic novelist. Eve has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts. But this ghost does not react to her death in the typical manner. This is another great addition to this series.
I’ve been reading this series and filling in the one I missed initially, then the ones that are new. This is a series that is so much fun to marathon read, that I just have to share them as a group!
I caught up on #3 Wicked Little Secret, which came out in October of 2016. In this one, the ghosts get nasty. One takes over Mandy, which she decides she doesn’t like at all! Another one attacks her with a bookcase, and Rick gets banged up saving her. The sleuthing duo solves the case by using their heads and find the stolen art not far from the starting point. Rick steals kisses throughout! They are such a cute couple and she still isn’t used to it.

Released in December of 2017, #11 Wicked in Wonderland: Strawberry Eclair Murder was a pretty good mystery as well as a good story, but I felt it fell apart a bit at the end. An artist of fairly set habits is stabbed in the back on her way home. Certain things are missing and certain things aren’t right about the circumstances of the body, but there
are no ghosts involved. Mandy and Rick have to work this case because Kathy is very upset about this death. So, who is Kathy? Well, her father is Hernandez, the head of the FBI’s NYC office where Rick and Mandy used to work. And her mother is the Chief at NYPD. When these two call in favors, it’s impossible to say no. At least it’s good eating.

#12 Dial W for Wicked was released recently in February of 2018. It is a wonderful addition to this series. It’s a new approach by the ghosts this time. Mandy is hearing them calling to her for help! And they are little girls who’ve been missing for a long time. Mandy and Rick need a lot of help from Jackie in this case, but they crack it. Mandy has a super dramatic moment in here when she takes a white handkerchief and wipes blood off a glass wall. Then uses it later to get a confession. What a scene! The ending is news readers have been waiting for, but I won’t reveal it. Read the book and see. This is definitely a 5 star story!

Just released on April 10, 2018, #13 Wicked Egg to Crack, is my current read and is already shaping up to be a worthy addition to the series. Mandy’s supposed to be taking it easy, but the company needs her help on a case of a Faberge egg! I can already recommend it!
"WinW: Strawberry Éclair Murder" earns 5/5 Hearts on Murderous Fun!
Once again, an excellent read from Lotta Smith! This time prepping for upcoming Valentine's Day is put on hold as a 'must solve' case has been put before this delightfully fun husband/wife sleuthing duo by NYC FBI Chief Hernandez. Mandy's "I see dead people" comes in handy when an "up and coming" graphic novelist ends up murdered, but Eve Wellington doesn't believe she's a ghost and offers little or no details to help Mandy and Rick uncover the truth and arrest a killer. It's understandable that suspects are plenty...Eve doesn't have many in her support. But along with a great story there are plenty of out loud giggling humor, quirky characters, and a clever conclusion that keeps one turning the page. Lotta Smith has again penned a well-written, easy-to-follow story for fans and newbies alike. I continue to enjoy Mandy and her interactions with those from beyond and her collaborative moments with her husband. This is definitely a top 2017 favorite author, series, and eleventh book!
"Disclosure: I received an advanced reader copy from the author, however the review opinions are honest and all my own."
Smith/wicked in wonderland:strawberry eclair murder
Cont....story of rick an agent who worked for the FBI in special operation :paranormal dept. and Mandy his assistance, was a medical student who got kick out of med school because she touch a couple of people and they died. Now Rick heads up his father security and investigation firm and Mandy joined with him. They get involved with dealing with paranormal ,people that are murder and try to find the victims murder through the victim themselves who were murder. Mandy can see dead people and interact with them along with her ghost bff jackie. This series of wicked to my surprise as first time reader of paranormal mystery ,find it pleasantly entertaining to read and I enjoyed the story lune. You need to read the series from the first book to really enjoy and understand the dynamic of rick , mandy, and Jackie and their good friend Hernandez from the FUN who heads the paranormal division .
Another great read. When Eve Wellington , a graphic novelist is stabbed to death on her way home from a party. Mandy is asked if she will take a look at the case. Jackie , Mandy's ghost friend goes and tries to comfort Eve who really didn't realize she was dead or had been stabbed at first. There were lots of twists and turns and many people it could be and it kept you guessing right till the end. I really like ricks way he has when he interviews people. Him and Mandy really do make a great couple and work well together. Another 5 🌟 read
Ok. I feel a little like a creep but I would have killed her too. And even tho she had a catharsis at the end, she never really cared about the killer.
I guess you don’t get to choose your cases. And this is supposed to be about the main Mandy and Rick... it was great to have Rick involved in a case again, but .... ugh. I’m still thinking the woman deserved to die and the killer deserved more of a happy ending.
Cute quick read! A murder mystery with a ghost who leads the investigation a stray. Who is she protecting? She insists everyone hated her, but everyone seemed to actually like her! With the help of another ghost and people who can see ghosts, they quickly solve the mystery! A surprising and entertaining book!
Love this series. All can definitely be read as a standalone. Highly recommend this book as well as series. You will laugh as well as be intrigued by the mystery and kept guessing until the end.
Their excorcist friend Brian joins them to solve the murder of a graphic novelist. I enjoy the interaction of the characters as much as the mysteries in this series.
I really enjoyed this book, loved the fact that Mandy was able to talk to the dead,, and do sleuthing to find out who murdered them , Jackie is a hoot!this is the 2nd book I've read by Lotta , great reading !
Frothy, a non demanding read. Characters are thin and the plot not too plotty. I'm not sure how believable it is too. Still I did finish it. As long as you want somthing light and you aren't too demanding, it could be ok.
You may think talking to the ghost of a murder victim would solve the crime but, not always. She is stabbed in the back and never saw her murderer. She thinks a lot of people hate her but, that doesn't appear true either.
