I am nitpicking but this book is full of mistakes. Too many mistakes since the author praises himself for creating a good book better than the other ones. Is it better than the other ones? No. The other books are better than this? Yes.

The person who wrote the praise on the back of the book either he is illiterete or he didn't use it to study. Period.

This is "why" this book is a flop:
○ I don't understand because in the introduction some kanji are explained in On'yomi and some other in Kun'yomi. The author should give all the readings. For my luck I have already done almost all kanji necessary, with all the readings, for the JLPT n°5. My goal is give it when I know half of kanji for the JLPT n°4 by heart so there is no problem but a beginner may have few issues with this book.
○ He uses kanji we haven't need to learn but not some we need.
○ He doesn't use always furigana/ruby. He should when the kanji is hard. I know more kanji than those for JLPT 5 so no problem with me but I am writing this review as if I was a beginner.
○ The keys sometimes have mistakes. How fucking can we learn something if the author himself makes some mistakes? One is a typo, two are typos, three maybe are typos but four, five...ten and so on aren't TYPOS!! Double checking! It is called double checking. 😠
Some typos include extra useless words in the exercises or the opposite the lack of words. 😠
○ Some rōmaji also are wrong. By now I know hiragana and katakana by heart and I saw every mistake but how about a beginner? (Again)
○ I think the book needs more kanji with furigana, of course, because some words have more than one entry although you know it is a verb or a noun....
How when you are learning the particles and the author in a sentence of Give it a Shot! uses te de mo in hiragana. Where Te was Hands (手) in the keys. Yes, he should have use kanji (手 is one of those for JLPT 5) when there are these things. But he uses shinbun in kanji. Kanji we haven't to learn. Read the 2nd point of this review. 😠

I like more the other book I am using to learn japanese. The book without exercises. There are mistakes but those are typos. Once in a while are typos. Always are mistakes.

This is page 105 but there are a lot of typos in the previous lessons and exercises.
The day of the week half kanji and half hiragana when you must learn the 3 kanji by heart. I don't remember if we have to know the days of the week but the kanji that compose them yes. Indeed I wrote them with kanji.
Anyway do you see those Wa/Wa (particle) I circled? Yeah those were useless for the sentence but the author instead didn't write desu. 😠

Another big mistake. This is page 119 (but as I said this is full of mistakes in the keys).
This is the key of the second sentence which says I have to use mada. Mada means, positive, still.
The keys says "suwatte imasu"

However, the give it shot! instead says "suwarimashita" which is polite past. So I think the right word is mou which, positive, means "already". (The third sentence is always with a past form and it is mou so I guess I got it right but I am tired of these mistakes. Keys should correct my mistakes and not the opposite). 😠

However, always page 119, the 8th sentence the author wrote mou which, negative, means "no longer". However, the translation says "I still haven't" i.e "not yet" which is the translation, negative, for mada.
I am tired of the wong keys. I can't use my time to correct the answers. 😠

This is the watch out! before the exercise. Always page 119. It is annoying when the author says you to pay attention and then he does the same mistakes.

He also forgot a part in the box form. 🤦‍♀️🤬

The content of this book is really good. The exercises are great. However, there are so many errors in the online resources and answer keys that I can't recommend this without issuing a warning. Hopefully the publisher can make corrections before the next exam rolls around.

The audio files to this book are hard to find, and when you do, they're in an unintelligible list almost impossible to match up with the book. It's a really big flaw to a study guide for a test which is audio heavy.

There is also way too much romaji in the book, for a test that features no romaji.

I found more value in Genki, and online resources: BunPro, WaniKani, ANKI decks, Miigi App, and other JLPT websites apps, books and websites.
