Commissario Laurenti #3

Muerte en lista de espera (Nuevos Tiempos/ New Times)

Rate this book

Shady things are happening in a beauty clinic just outside Trieste. The plastic surgery institute is located behind high walls to guarantee the privacy of the wealthy who reside there. When the Romanian Vasile pulls the ripcord and flees the institute, he is run over by a limousine.

An attack on surgeon Leo Lestizza puts the clinic in the center of attention and inspector Laurenti is tasked to untangle a network of corruption and murder and the trade in illegally harvested organs.

Characters do not develop enough throughout the story, story line is unclear at times and the book is very slow to read.

Proteo Laurenti on kaikessa ärsyttävyydessään kiehtova päähenkilö. Ajankuva 2000-luvun alun Triestestä toimii, vaikka juoni onkin väliin enemmän valistava kuin jännittävä. Yhteiskunnallisena dekkarina miellyttävän erilainen Italia-kokemus.

Una storia senza troppi fronzoli e ben orchestrata, personaggi divertenti e ambientazione cittadina credibile.

German author who writes mysteries set in Italy. This one is about illegal organ transplants, and is very entertaining and keeps you interested until the last pages. I'll probably read more from him, if I can get my hands on them.
