I literally finished this book in 30 minutes and i was actually debating whether this qualified as my Goodreads 2018 challenge. LOL. I've read this before in grade 2 and i really liked it and suggested to everyone, then i loved very book and bc i was so small it appealed to me a lot, eg the comics the drawing the funny banter. This book is for sure problematic and well short. Obviously i read it very quickly so the plot ran by. I tell you it is a very fun and hilarious quick read. I recommended it for grade 2 and up and for older ages just for fun!

A mixture of a Graphic Novel and short story. The book holds the attention of readers that like the feel of a graphic novel, while also using the short story format to tell the story. The comics used by the author help move the story along without the need for elaborate pictures. They give an insight to the character's feelings and thoughts as he works his way through a week's worth of punishment as the cafeteria's cook.

Lousy series. It's in the same format as Diary of a Wimpy Kid (text is interrupted with little comic strips that continue with the narrative) but isn't funny OR clever. This series would appeal to early 3rd graders, but I question if quantity rather than quality really does have a benefit in this case. It's just terrible writing, and the only reason I think Scholastic even sells any copies is because it's simply easy enough to read that kids feel like they've made it through a "chapter book" (but this hardly qualifies as that).

It was a good book because it had lots of comic strips and I like that kind of book. It had a very good plot of a kid named Guy and he always sleeps in math class. The principal assigned him to one week of work in the cafeteria, and that is the WORST! Guy tries to a solve a mystery so that Zoe, his enemy, won't take "Comic Guy" out forever!

Principal Hawk is on a new mission to make the consequence fit the misbehavior. Guy is assigned to KP duty in the smelly school kitchen after falling asleep in math class and blaming it on the mashed potatoes. He needs to find a great story for the school newspaper to save Comic Guy - what can he possible find newsworthy in the school kitchen?

About halfway between a children's chapter book and a graphic novel, this book has a decent story and is a great way to encourage reluctant kids to read.
