Be careful who you spill your secrets to...

Some women just have it — that combination of stunning looks and sexual confidence that brings men to their knees.

Not me.

My last boyfriend once fell asleep while we were … you know. Not my proudest moment.

And my crush on my hot, arrogant, and oh-so-unattainable CEO? Never going to happen.

But one night, after too much wine, I find myself online, creating a profile for a sex kitten called SweetVixen. Safe behind my computer screen, I’m suddenly the seductive goddess of my wildest imagination.

Next thing I know, I’ve spent a month sharing every filthy fantasy I’ve ever had with a man I know only as Mister Bigshot. A man who can make my toes curl with just a few keystrokes. A man who brings new meaning to the eggplant emoji.

A man who now wants to meet in person.

Dressed in my rarely-used little black dress and heels higher than my expectations, I gather my courage and cross the restaurant toward the stranger who’s been teasing me mercilessly all month.

But then I come to a dead stop. Right in the middle of the restaurant. Frozen in place like a deer in the candlelight.

Because the man sitting there waiting on me is no stranger.

The man I’ve bared everything to — and I do mean everything — is none other than my hot, arrogant, and oh-so-unattainable CEO.

Mister Bigshot is … my boss.

And trust me, there’s no emoji for the look he's giving me right now ...

Cat Carmine writes contemporary romance and romantic comedy. She also happens to like drinking wine, eating cake, buying too many books, and snuggling with her elderly cocker spaniel (oh, and her husband too.) She loves — and writes — books with sweet and sarcastic heroines and strong, sexy heroes who like a little bark with their bite. She thinks witty banter is the best kind of foreplay, and she tries to infuse all her stories with heart, humor and heat.

Bigshot Boss is an OK read. A story where you need something light and easy to pass a hot weekend. Since the weather has been so hot, I just kept myself in at home. So while passing time, I picked up Bigshot Boss.

The sexy banter is hot at the beginning. Then it is dwendling to mediocre. The plot is boring. Nothing new. The sex scenes also mediocre at best.

Well.... but the book served it's purpose by being easy reading.

It's difficult to believe this book was written in 2017, huh?

I'm a fan of the boss-underling trope, but the writer has to be VERY CAREFUL about how to handle it so it doesn't border on creepy. In this one, we have a young woman unknowingly meeting the CEO of her company on a dating site, exchanging some racy messages and then being scared to death she'll lose her job once he realizes she works for him.

So not sexy!

And to make everything worst, the boss keeps pushing for them to have trysts - in the office no less!! - when the woman would prefer to forget everything. The fact that he kept pushing and didn't let her come to him made me squirm. And not in a good way.

Add to that Rock Engle's smarmy narration, and I had to bail. Simply not for me.

“She’s beautiful. She isn’t exotic or worldly looking — not the Francesca or Isabella I was picturing. Instead, she’s beautiful the way your first love is beautiful. She’s the girl next door, the high school sweetheart. She’s the girl you marry.”

Read 2: I’d lower it to a 4.5 for me this time around. I still enjoyed it just maybe not quite as much as I did the first time around.

Bigshot Boss was the best read of the week for me. I’m surprised the rationing isn’t higher. It deserves praise. The writing was clever and sweet. The sex seems were steamy and actually interesting. Sometimes the sex scenes can bore me if they’re too frequent, go too long, or just have no pizazz. Not with this book. Cat Carmine knows what she’s doing.

I’ve now added a bunch of her stuff to my TBR list and I’m excited to get started.

She's the kind of girl you marry.

I enjoyed this book. It had likeable characters and the plot focused on the real issues of the couple. The argument was good solved at the end, which pleased me since many books that I've read struggled with this.

We meet Hannah, who is struggling to support both her and her sister while working at a company. She's been talking to this guy online for over a month and when she finally goes to meet him, she runs when she realizes the guy is actually the owner of the company she works for. I liked Hannah and how passionate she was about everything. She had to deal with a struggling sister but she always tried to see the good in people. She was good at what she was doing, she was shy, down to earth and...normal. And she listened to her gut, always.

Trent is the bad boy with a good heart. An asshole of a boss but a sweet, kind guy with those he cared about. He did his mistakes in the past, but he did not let those stop him. He's the one Hannah's been talking to, and just like her, he found himself get really attached to their online encounters. Once he finds out who Hannah really was he kept persuading her and when it came to the point when they had to face a new step for their relationship, he is very mature about it. He's also really stubborn and refuses to see the light sometimes. He screws up badly but he finds a very sweet way of making up. He was ready to fully open up to Hannah and was more than willing to help her sister. They formed a good pair and I could really see how somewhere on the road, they fell in love.

You know, I am a firm believer than when you find your soulmate, you can be really you with that person. You show your true colours, you are not afraid to be the person you're in private when you are with that person. And this exact thing happened with Hannah. With Trent she was not afraid to speak out, to act on her desires. She blossomed in his presence.

I would recommend this book if you're a fan hot reads with loveable characters and light story with just enough angst to spice things up. The writing somehow reminded me of Whitney G., so if you like her books then there's a high chance you'll enjoy this one too.

I would love to know the others characters' story. Luke and Ally looked like they'd make a cute pair, sooooo...maybe? I don't know, dreams. :-)) But Cat Carmine is definitely an author I'd like to hear more of.

This is another new author to me and I loved this book!

Trent and Hannah met online anonymously and have been exchanging smokin’ hot, dirty e-mails with each other for a while now. Trent wants to meet, but Hannah’s not so sure. In her real life she’s shy and quiet, but her online persona gives her the confidence to be much more adventurous and outspoken.

What happens when Hannah finds out that her filthy online flirtation has been with her boss and the CEO of the company where she works? Will she fess up to being SweetVixen? Will Trent figure it out on his own? What happens when they discover their connection? Is there any chance for a workplace romance happy ending?

The chemistry between these two is insane and their story was a really great twist on the usual CEO office romance. Super steamy, funny, sweet and very entertaining.

No cliffhanger. No cheating. HEA.

Very formulaic with a lot of filler. The premise got a bit strained - why didn't they just text each other instead of sending emails? Much of the sexual aspect was just over the top. He's huge, he comes forever, she's soooooo tight. I searched and the word tight comes up 14 times in the book in relation to their sex scenes. Give me a break.

In the real world, I can't believe a woman would write about sexual fantasies with a man and then agree to meet him alone. Or have sex at work without locking the door. And the "oops I forgot condoms" moment was unforgivable. But it's all a fantasy. I enjoy falling-for-the-boss type romances in general and this was okay.

This was my first Cat Carmine book. I both liked and disliked it.

Likes: great potential in the premise.
Dislike: poorly played out premise.
Like: Heroine was smart.
Dislike: heroine was such a f**king cock whore. She had no self-control or sense of self-worth.
Like: Hero was obsessed with heroine.
Dislike: hero was an asshole boss.

I can go back and forth like this, but you can see more about what I thought regarding this book by just checking out the tags I used.

5 BIG SHOT Stars! ❤️😊🤩🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Oh Boy this book was a great find! I adored this couple. The only flaw was how weak Hanna was at moments throughout the book. She never stood up for herself at all!! No backbone & always second guessing everything detail in her steamy hot affair with the sexy big shot. Also the whole, Email thing, constantly repeating To Sweet Vixen from Big shot Subject blah blah blah,,,,every single time they emailed each other back to back was annoying. Lol

Anyways I like a heroine with backbone and one who doesn’t allow others to boss her or talk down to her. Hanna was a sweet vulnerable girl whose self esteem is low due to her last relationship and lack of experience in the sex department. Behind the computer screen she’s ballsy, in person she’s like a shy little girl always second guessing.. However the sexy big shot is determined to have her & fulfill all her sexy fantasies she oh so definitely sex emailed to him on the love.com app.

I can overlook it because I truly loved this story and how it played out. I was hooked from the beginning. I got it off audiobooks & listened to it all day not missing one moment while getting my mom duties done & even while taking my kids out to play. Yelp I was hooked so of course I had to give this story what it deserved. 5 BIG SHOT STARS!! ❤️🌟🌟❤️🌟❤️🌟🌟❤️

After weeks of suffering this awful slump, I’m back in the game.. thanks to this book. Y’all I can’t express how happy I am right now. It’s like being gifted with a second life. ( I know I’m being dramatic) I was surprised by how hooked I was with the story and the characters. Usually, this trope bores me to death and more often than not, I tend to DNF it because of the cliche plot. But my brain has other plans though, and it pointed me to this book.

The characters were very much relatable. I loved that the book showed great couple times between the MCs. The build up was not boring, it was actually sigh-inducing because the Hero was so sweet. It’s a breath of fresh air seeing a hero so caring to the heroine. I am so fed up with asshole heroes right now. So Trent is just the right cake for me.

And another new author to stalk. Haha. Not personally but her books. Lately, I’ve been jonesing with up and coming indie authors because they seem to hit up my taste. My fave authors keep on disappointing me so I stay the hell away from them until I get my mojo back on. Or else I’ll risk banishing them all from my TBR.

Ok let’s stop. Too much venting out 🤣🤦‍♀️

This was an okay read for me. I really enjoyed the banter on their lovemail account, but it seemed to take way too long for things to really ramp up in the story. lots of useless information and scenes that felt mostly like filler. Then when it did get going, to be honest, and i can't believe I'm saying this, there was just way too much sex going on! I love me some smexy times, this was a bit over the top, even for me. It really started to take away from the story, for what story there was. Their relationship didn't feel real or authentic, and I have no idea why they fell in love with each other when all their was, was sex between them. We didn't get to see any kind of real connection between them, something that would grow. Oh, and the h forgives him (as usual) waaaaay too fast after he pretty much doubts her (calling her a liar, just because another woman hurt him in the past) and let's her lose her job even though he assured her that she wouldn't. He came off as a bit of an ass, not listening to anyone, including his brother who is the partner and talent behind the whole company.

It wasn't a terrible read, it was nice enough, but it sure didn't need all the chapters it had. Not sure if I'll be reading the rest of the series though.

It was almost there!

I really loved Trent and Hannah! I loved how Hannah had a bad ex who made her feel unsexy irl but she wanted to be sexy and adventurous and lived that online with Trent. He saw all of her before they even met so he knew her desires even though she was shy and meek in person at first. I adore stories that begin online/in text and this didn’t disappoint! Where it fell short for me was the lack of more back story. It’s implied that had deeper connecting convos before the book starts and since we didn’t see it first hand it felt a tad rushes. I wanted more interaction between them that wasn’t sexy times. But let me tell u the sexy times are smoking! I also loved it because it’s an office romance :) The under the desk scene was the best! And a super sweet ending. Pleasant fun read.

Actual rating: 3.5 stars

I really wanted to give this a higher rating but, at the end of the day, the very long list of cliches just cheapened the story for me. But there was still so much GOOD that I couldn't give it a 3.

The highlights for me included Ally, Hannah's sister who has MS and uses a wheelchair. I really loved how this was handled and the things that came from it. Ally was depicted as quite independent despite her bouts of self-pity which seemed quite accurate.

I also really enjoyed the main romance and the sex scenes were well written - although a couple of them were a little cringy.

Overall really entertaining and I'm keen to pick up the next book.

Not an excellent story but a great way to pass a few hours.....I probably wont remember it in 3 months time as it was predictable- but it was written well and I finished it (which lately isn't happening much- so I'm taking it as a win)

After seeing what book 2 entails- I'm more excited about that book than I am about this one- but I wanted to read in order.

This is the first book I've read by this author. What intrigued me was the plot and I always like to find new authors to follow. I quite liked how this book turned out to be, although not completely.

This is the story of Hannah Cole, who works in the marketing department at a big company that produces furniture and such. Her work is delayed a bit because she's anxiously waiting for a reply on an app where you can find people to date. Here she exchanged a lot of smutty messages and sexy pics with a man, Mr. Bigshot, who seems to love what she tells him and would love to play their fantasies in real life. Once they decide to meet in person, Hannah is shocked that her online lover is none other than her boss, Trent Whittaker. And once he also finds that she works for him, he's not gonna let her go because he wants those fantasies fulfilled.

Hannah was a bit... meh. At times I liked her and thought "yes, you did well, girl" and other times I believed she was just weak, submissive. If you think that she wants to have sex with Mr. Bigshot despite he's her boss and she's unsure at first, it's realistic. After all they've build up this pent up tension for a month, so she is tempted to do so. But I don't know, maybe it was the narrator's voice that seemed the one of a weak woman, but that's how overall I received Hannah as a character. But at least she was normal.

Trent was a jerk boss but in private he was a kind man. He told Hannah that all he wanted to do with her was sex and nothing more - that was why they connected on the love mail app after all. He was too convincing with Hannah and sometimes I hated it, but he knew that she also wanted the same things so he just wanted to convince her.

I liked how Trent and Hannah's relationship built, but I didn't like the plot twist.

Another thing I liked is that Hannah and Trent start this relationship knowing that they are just having fun, but they don't declare their love until the end. We had the classic trope of "omg, sex with her/him was the best I've ever had" BS that is annoying, but at least we didn't have them professing their love to each other after they finally had sex.

Overall, I liked the story but I found a poor execution in some parts. Now I'm already reading the following book with Trent's brother as the main protagonist. We'll see if I'll change my mind and I'll like that story more.

Super Sexy Office Romance

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book, Bigshot Boss by Cat Carmine.

I have a new writer to add to my favorite authors list. What a wonderful book, exceptionally well written, a little different spin on the office romance story. Extremely entertaining, hot, sexy and very dirty. Will leave you wet and wanting more.

What do you do if you have been having a sweet, sexy, filthy online relationship with a man you've never met and when you do meet, you discover that he is your boss?!
Well, the first thought that pops into your head is "RUN!", so of course that is exactly what you do. Your boss is quite upset as he had some plans of doing some very naughty things with you after dinner and now you are gone and he has no idea who you really are. Lucky for your boss and possibly unlucky for you, he discovers who you are and that you work for him. Against your better judgment, you begin a secret, sexual relationship with him that could jeopardize your job. The more time you spend together, the more you want out of the relationship but could your boss ever want more than just a physical one? And what if people find out?

Headline: I have voluntarily read and reviewed an Exclusive ARC of Bigshot Boss by Cat Carmine.
*an insanely prolonged squeal
I loved it!!!!
*another squeal
My face hurts from smiling so much while reading this book. I could not put it down, except for the times I dropped my kindle on my face from being in awe of some of the sexy scenes.
Trent and Hannah were perfect, for this story and each other. I want so much more. I want Luke to pair up. I want to meet the other brother Jace. I was made for this series, and this book needs to be part one of a series. Pretty pretty please.
I of course, highly recommend for a humorous, sexy as all get out sweet romance loving reader.
Happy Reading!

The plot promised to be entertaining but the execution wasn't. Their email exchange was funny and their first meeting too, but then I started wondering about the way Trend conducted business: there is no way you can design a product line let's say in spring and have it in the shops by autumn, not in the furniture industry.
I am a little bit fed up by all those heroines who feel responsible for their siblings. Why couldn't her sister work a desk job?
It was nice to read, but all those questions about the furniture production and the sister's disability disturbed my focus on the story.

This book started well. I kinda liked the premise and the whole idea of the emails. It was cute.

I thought the h was reckless about fucking her boss - she wasn't as tortured about it as I felt she should have been, considering her sister. I didn't like the silly misunderstanding and the way the h decided to go back and beg for her job even after she thought he'd cheated. That annoyed me. Also, the writing style was weak. So it was just okay in the end.

Spoiler notice

There is no hate in this story as the introduction suggested. While reading I found myself thinking of the business background and realizing how this business would be ran, sooo the plotline became ridiculous to me. I really tried to read the book in its entirety, but any magic that might have been found dissipated. That left only the predictability oh the happy forever romance.

It was okay. By day, Hannah is junior editor at a big company in the marketing department. The only company that would give her a job outside of retail since she didn’t have the degree she needed. Which was a win because she quit college after her parents died to help take care of her big sister who has MS. She relies heavily on her income and assistance. Hannah’s personality is meek. She didn’t have a good experience with her ex and she seems very timid around her marketing director/boss. Her only “friend” is a co-worker that she met when she got hired.
By night, Hannah is SweetVixen on an app called lovemail. On the app, she fearless, sexy and a bit vocal about her sexual fantasies. She friends Mister Bigshot and they talk fantasies for a month until he finally asks to meet up. After all, it is a hook-up site they are on. After some coaxing from her sister and friend, SweetVixen goes to meet Mister Bigshot in a bar only to spot him, turn and run!
Why? Well, turns out his the CEO of the company she works at. The job she desperately needs to keep and messing with the boss is a sure fire way to lose that job in her mind.
Needless to say, the boss sees her but doesn’t recognize her as the low-level employee she is and uses his IT department to track down the SweetVixen he’s been fantasizing with and about. When he learn who she is, things get crazy.
I have to admit, I listened to this book on audible instead of reading it. To me, the male character’s voice made the words sound a little creepy. When Hannah wanted to call things off, he kind of pounced on her…even after she said no. Then kept talking about all the things he was going to do to her. By the way it was described, I felt like Hannah was cowering in the corner while this man was pushing himself on her. It could be the voice of the narrator and how it was portrayed but it didn’t feel sexy. I also stopped listening but tried to keep pushing through in hopes that it would get better (I always do because I acknowledge that authors put their hearts and souls into books).
After a while, the two were on the same page but the male lead (Trent AKA Mister Bigshot) kept making poor choices. I get it, he was hurt in the past…but some things were just tough to hear. For example: to tell her to sleep with you without fear of losing her job…then not back her up with people started to question her integrity pissed me off. Then there was the time she told him his business would suffer from a decision he made and he told her that she didn’t have a degree and couldn’t tell him what to do. He always apologized but it made me side-eye him as a person.
With that being said, I’m not inclined to read the other two book in the series which very well may be better… I’m just going to stop the journey here.

An online Love app leads to an office romance

So, it started out interesting but Hannah's lacking of a backbone started to be annoying and Trent's know it all attitude towards his business became eye rolling.

After Hannah learns her online Bigshot is her boss, she runs away with plans to cut the online link between then and not try to see him. But Trent is hot for Sweet Vixen who then uses his IT department to help track down the user. And, of course, learns she actually works for him.

Now, this is where Hannah's backbone melts. Trent sets up a meeting with her in his office. Instead of her remaining strong to her original idea of not having a relationship with her boss, she just clams up to allow it.

And Trent is the CEO but doesn't have marketing teams for advertisers on the product lines? His brother Luke is the only person who designs all of it. And Trent has his ideas of how to move the business forward but obviously it falls apart.

And when the media gets 'inside' information about the lackluster furniture, Hannah is the one who loss her job and falsly blamed for the news reports. Which Trent's groveling to win back Hannah is exactly like she acted when getting into a relationship with him in the first place...she folds quickly. Trent didn't trust her, she loses her job when promised by him that she wouldn't, and loss friendships from work due to his treatment to her.

Sex scenes where great and hot but I wanted Hannah to grow from the agreeable girl in the beginning to an actual strong sweet but Vixen woman to the end. And Trent to grow up to realize in personal and business, he doesn't know it all.
