What happens when your captor becomes your savior?

Mikayla Miller wakes up one morning, bound to a bed, in a farmhouse in Alberta, Canada, with no recollection of how she got there.

When she comes face to face with her captor, Mikayla can’t deny the instant chemistry between them. The man she only knows as Nolan insists he’s her protector, but lives by his own unique moral compass.

As the days turn into months, Nolan’s touch, his words, and the way he looks at her, ignite her body and soul. No matter how hard Mikayla fights their unmistakable connection they share, she begins to fall for him, and a new woman is created in her place.

Back in the small town where Mikayla disappeared, two women reel from a shattering loss. When letters suddenly start appearing from Mikayla, twelve years later, they are left wondering why she’d choose her abductor over her own family.

Love is complicated, and messy;
but sometimes the heart can’t help what it wants.
For Mikayla Miller, it never was a choice.

OMG OMG OMG... if you want a book that weaves you in and out of darkness and light, leaving you haunted by its telling then this is the story for you. Words were hard to find but after turning the last page, I was driven to attempt a quick writing of my thoughts and overwhelming feelings, needing to document my experience. The journey of this story is like none other. How this author left me reeling and overwhelmed, with my heart wanting to burst was mind blowing. How could one story take me to so many emotions. Within this read you are given a smorgasbord of full characters which requires giving close attention to details. Ummm so worth in. The unfolding of this story has surprise after surprise with a jaw dropping end... What an awesome five star read. Enjoy!!!

description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
This is one of those times where I enjoyed the story but the execution just wasn't that great. I felt the plot was engaging and very original, but the writing was a little amateurish and some of the dialogue was cringe-worthy. We constantly go back and forth in time from past to present. On top of that, we have multiple POVs and three different interconnected stories being told. All those things made the story a bit confusing and convoluted a lot of the time. I also felt that so much page space was given to Taylor's story, and to Libby, that I never felt overly connected to Nolan/David and Mikayla/Collette. I will say that I did really enjoy the last 20-30% of this book. I felt it was the strongest part of the entire book and I loved the little TWIST the author gave us at the very end.

~MAIN CHARACTERS~
With the multiple POVs and storylines, this book really didn't have a hero or heroine in the traditional sense. I enjoyed both Nolan/David and Mikayla/Collette characters. I wish both of them had been a bit more fleshed out. Or that their story had gotten more page space, but it was what it was. I also enjoyed both Taylor and Libby and I hated Blake.

description

~HEAT LEVEL~
Low. There are a handful of mildly erotic sex scenes in this one. The frequency felt organic to the story. Personally, I would have liked to have seen a few more, mostly because I struggled to feel Nolan/David and Mikayla/Collette's connection (especially in the past scenes). Again, this goes back to my feeling that their story got lost a bit amongst all the other characters.

~ANGST LEVEL~
Low. Honesty, for a book about a kidnapped and held captive girl this book was very low on the angst scale. Except for Mikayla acting like a three-year-old by swearing and throwing books at Nolan, these two pretty much became a solid couple four months after he took her. There is a bit of angst in regard to the other storylines (Taylor and Blake, and Libby and Adam) but nothing over the top. There was also no OW or OM drama.

~IN THE END~
This one was a mixed bag for me. I thought the story itself had SO much potential, but it just fell short in a lot of places. Overall it felt a bit chaotic with too much going on. The entire kidnapped/captive angle got lost amongst all the other storylines. I needed more focus to be on the Nolan/David and Mikayla/Collette storyline to fully connect with that part of the story. It was almost like the author wanted to tell everyone's story and because of that none of them felt fully fleshed out. I don't know. I just didn't 100% connect with this one as much as I had hoped to. But like I said, I think the bones were all there and in a publishing world where every trope has been done ad nauseam this author's storyline felt refreshingly original. Therefore yours truly is going to give this one a solid thumbs up.description

SIDE NOTE: I'll be honest, I am not sure if the author meant to name the RCMP the ROYAL MOUNTAIN POLICE or if she legit thought that is what they are called. They are not, they are actually called the ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE. I can't even begin to tell you how annoying I found this as a Canadian. *lol*

Stockholm is such an emotional rollercoaster! I'm sitting here trying to explain this book to my husband but can't seem to explain it very well. So many things are happening in every direction and it has my feelings feeling like they are on the worst roller coaster ride ever, but in a good way. I don't think I can adequately summarize this book. You really are going full throttle from the first page. So many things. First off. Mikayla. I love her so hard, I think I have a crush on her! She's so strong and so vulnerable all at the same time. She's been through some shit. Some pretty heavy shit, yet she overcomes it with grace. I feel for her position. Secrets that have been buried and now they are out when she's kidnapped, but only to her and her captor. These secrets shouldn't have been hidden, I kinda blame the adults for not noticing. (Normally I wouldn't say that, but if you read it you may see my POV. The adults are the kind that don't believe everything is not perfect.) Mikayla is a victim but she owns it. Nolan is I'm not even sure yet. He's dreamy and sweet, but he is also a kidnapper. Like Mikayla, my love for him grew gradually.

I wrote the above paragraph half way through the book. Now that I finished it, all I can say is omg. Just wow. I'm completely blown away. I can't say much because one little thing can spoil the entire book. But I honestly did not see the end coming.

Honestly Stockholm was a complete mind feck. Totally, completely, wholly. Whatever word you want to use. It was a mind feck, but in the most beautiful way. I'm going to be left feeling from this one for a long time. I see it now. The intricate lives and world Leigh Lennon created had me so messed up. One moment I'm gasping in shock, the next I'm laughing, the next I'm crying, then I'm happy. It was such a mix of feelings that I'll be left with a huge book hangover. Stockholm will surprise you, read it and bask in the hangover. I know I will.

I’ll admit I didn’t read any reviews before starting. This is incredibly unusual for me. But I noticed a friend was reading it and once I’d read the blurb that was it.

My only real concern going in was would it be too dark for me. The answer to that is no. It’s not really dark at all. Which is surprising given the title.

I liked the story and the clever way it was told. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough but....

While the story and the way it’s told is fabulous I didn’t particularly like the writing. In fact after a while I skimmed a lot of the Mikayla/Nolan parts. I know she’s only eighteen and she’s been kidnapped. But it felt at times like she was going through the terrible two’s, just with swearing.. I gave her the benefit of the doubt for a while. But honestly she was doing my head in. If I was Nolan I would have taken her back.

Like I said I love the way it’s told and the way everything developed. I did however feel something was missing. It could just have been that I wanted more Colette and David I’m not sure.

I’m rating this higher than I normally would despite its faults. Simply because I enjoyed it so much and I’ve yet to reach for another book. Which is unusual for me.

It’s an original and fascinating book.

ARC-REVIEW COPY
Release Date-23/3/18

So Stockholm by Leigh Lennon Is one that really appealed to me when I read the blurb.
And though I did enjoy this I wasn't overly fond of the writing style used here.
The story in itself here was great. I just felt it jumped POV to often and sometimes I found myself a bit confused and lost within the timeline.
I would have liked to have spent more time getting to know Nolan/Mikayla and David/Colette.
as because of the way that this was told I didn't feel that connected to there story.
Despite the above, this was an interesting read that did capture and keep my attention.
One thing though, I didn't find "Stockholm" dark at all, it was actually quite sweet in its execution and intent.
Overall I would describe this more as a saga with romantic overtures than an actual full-blown romance.
In conclusion, I found this a unique read and I thought the twist at the end was a fabulous addition to the plot.
So its a thumbs up from me.
I was provided with an ARC of "Stockholm" By the author of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Stockholm popped my Leigh Lennon cherry.

So based on the title you may have guessed what this book is about. It's not your typical captor falls for their abductor type book.
My review is going to be extremely vague as i don't want to give anything away.
Nolan feels the need to protect Mikayla from the life she once knew. In doing so it caused a rift between the two, their relationship is unconventional, secrets are exposed, love is felt, heartbreak is inevitable and lives are turned upside down.
This book goes back and forth from past to present, the storyline is great and the book flows perfectly.
I will definitely be reading more from Leigh Lennon.

To everyone on the outside Mikayla has a happy life, she comes from a loving family, has a boyfriend she loves and a few great friends, but behind closed doors there is one person who makes her life miserable! Nolan witnesses an interaction between Mikayla and this mystery man and follows her into the library, she talks openly to this stranger about her life, and then the next thing she knows she is walking up with a pounding head and in a bedroom she doesn’t recognise!

Nolan tells her he is saving her life, but she hates him with a passion, but underneath that hate she feels a strong attraction for him. He tells her to give him 6 months, and as they are on a farm in the middle of nowhere, with no escape and surrounded by snow, she doesn’t have much choice!

This is a story about 12 years of Mikayla, Nolan’s and her families life! What happens to her whilst being help against her will, what happens after those 6 months, and what her parents, brother, sister and their partners go through!

The book is full of mystery, regret and lots of love and hate! Honestly, it’s a great read!

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Just finished this and can't say how much I loved this. I have read a few books that jump from the past to the present and I was glad this one flowed nicely and I was able to keep up with the story.

I loved how this story was dark but it also showed what Mikayla's family went through from her disappearance and what happened after the night she was taken that she doesn't remember. Nolan saw Mikayla and knew he had to save her from the past she wanted to deny and not face the truth.

Again I have read books that moved from the past to present and would be confused for half the book, but I didn't have the same issue with this one. I loved that the authors delved into writing a dark romance. I hope she writes more.

OMFG!!! WHAT DID I JUST FINISHED READING!? Leigh Lennon Took me to Another Place with this Dark Beautiful Suspenseful Book! STOCKHOLM is Everything you need to know but Throws you Off Kilter. I don't want to give any spoilers because this Book is NOT what you expect from Leigh. It is so different from her writing, if you read her other one's...you would know if you are a Big Fan of Hers like Me.
This Book is about a girl who woke up in a foreign place and doesn’t remember How She got there. Until her captor gives her snippets of the events that lead her with him. His only agreement is to stay with him for 6 months and then he will let her go back to her loving family. Of course she is livid and demands to be let go but promises she will NOT mention his name or go to the police. As days & weeks past, she doesn’t want to give into his caregiver nature of waiting on her hand and foot.
The way he cooks for her, always has her favorite things there, gives her privacy and knows how to prepare her coffee for her the way she likes. She knows that this is the way a loved one does for them NOT a Stranger of kidnapping. Also their relationship starts to grow after spending time with each other but seemed like they did not even Realized it blossomed in the strangest way- well for her that is.
Did I mention this Book has All the Feels you ask for in a book?! Yes! And the two main characters have a Steamy Chemistry between the two of them that are off the Charts HOT!
Also this Book deals with Physical and Verbal abuse so just a Fair Warning.
STOCKHOLM is has alot of Twists and Turns that You Think you know what's going to happen next but....BAM! Hits you Upside-side your head and thinking WTF!?! YES!! I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN because you wanna know what is going to happen next!! It is Dark, Mysterious, Funny, Sexy and deals with human life struggles with a hint of psychology. This is a Definitely MUST READ BOOK!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You were watching me in my car?"
She was alarmed but recalled the fight she'd had with a man who should be Protecting her, not hurting her. Looking up at this stranger from the library, it was as if he saw right through her to the secret she'd carried around for so long.
"I guess when you put it that way, it sounds creepy," he said with a low belly laugh that made him even more attractive.
With deep dark brown eyes and almost white hair, his contrasting features were enough to cause her to take notice.
"It was actually pretty hard to miss."
In her mind, she remembered thinking the same thing as the tears streamed down her face while this was happening.
"I guess I was very upset. I'm all right."
"I don't believe you. Looking at you now, you're trembling. By the way, I'm Nolan."
At this point, the movie screen went black. Now she knew she was in Real Danger.
WHERE THE HELL AM I?!
The cover and blurb for this one grabbed my attention straight away. It's a really fresh take on the hostage story. Dark and twisted tale about what happens when being taken is better than the life you leave behind. Can you choose to start over and let go of your past or will it catch up with you? Can you find genuine happiness when you start out as a captive? Plenty of plot twists in this one and I was definitely turning the pages to find out what happened next. I also really enjoyed the secondary characters in the book and Taylor especially was a favourite.
I received an ARC of this book.
Well by the title of this book you can pretty much tell the subject matter. However just like any good book everything is not always as it appears. Like real life there is always much more to the story.
This book is full of twists, turns and facts you’re not expecting. I found myself thinking, “Oh yeah, I know what’s coming or what happened”. Sometimes I was right ( cause I’m a sleuth. Actually, I’m just a good guesser) but most times it veered off to something else!
The author held you captive with her story. See what I did there? :)
There are two main characters in the story but all the other characters are almost equally as relevant to the WHOLE story. There is one character, who I was trying to sort out why she was written the way she was and I thought there was going to be another connection. After, I finished I thought of another book (trilogy) I read (also had 3 movies) and bam! I realized why. Even sometimes I’m a little dense. This was just my justification in my mind, cause I hate to admit I’m wrong! I’m certain this isn’t the author’s intention. Sometimes, we try to make more than there is, especially me.
Yes, there is romance, sex, angst and plenty of drama for everyone. Some of it may befuddle you as to some of the things that happen. You may read it and say, “How can that happen”, or “I would never act that way or do that”. Really? Do you REALLY know how you would act in every situation? We think we know ourselves but each individual is different.
What I appreciate about this author is that she delves into everyday matters and digs a little deeper. She keeps her books real. What I found fascinating is how she can hit on a subject like when we or a family member is involved in something we can delude ourselves into not seeing something or totally ignore the evidence in front of us. We can lie to ourselves or erase in our minds or from everyday life that it doesn’t exist. We use these as coping mechanisms to keep our world as perfect as possible. It’s always easier to put blame on someone else or believe the worse of someone else. I can’t go into it cause I don’t do spoilers. It’s not fair to the author.
Another reason, I like this book is due to the authors notes. I learned a lot about her process for this story. A book is not done ( I didn’t say the story, but the book) until you hit the last page.
I guess what I’m trying to say is I really enjoyed this book! This is not my first book by this author but it is my first read of this genre by her. I look forward to seeing what she pens next!
4,5 dark, emotional jumbled, beautiful sparkling stars
Leigh Lennon never ceases to surprise me. I read the first story of hers and it left me with so many emotions and partially knocked my heart and brain with topics I wasn't expecting. Then I read my second book and it surprised me with completely difference and due to personal experiences knocked the air out of me.
Now Leigh Lennon gifted me with an Advanced Reader Copy of Stockholm. I acknowledged the topic I was starting to read but I already knew it wouldn't be that simple coming from Leigh Lennon. You will never predict the story, the good and the evil and in between I found myself question my own ability to trust my mind about what's right and wrong.
The story switches between past and present revealing the events around Mikayla Miller's disappearing and the aftermath unfolding over the next 8 month and her reappearing 12 years later.
From the early start of reading I felt so much, I felt for Mikayla and Nolan, I felt for Libby and Taylor and was torn about like and dislike their roles in this story and I immediately started to mistrust my emotions. I felt like in an emotional hall of mirrors. I connected to thoughts and decisions but my heart and brain were on a constant fight about what really happened and what my mind made me see. And when I finally came to terms about all the characters, the end of the story sent me reeling again.
Well done Leigh Lennon. This book didn't let me off the hook. I needed to go on, to finish, to know. Now I can't just close the book and move on. I feel so much. Thank you for this story.
First i have to say this is the first book of Leigh Lennon that i read. And i had the privilege of reading an ARC and this is my first impression:
WOW!! I just absolutely loved it!
If you think you know what this book`s about just by the title you are so wrong .....
This book follows the story of Mikayla/Nolan and David/Colete and so many others characters.
Love,hate ,pain ,regrets and New Starts are all over this book and makes you wonder what to expect in the next page.
Without going into to many details this is the book that each person will have different feelings in the very end.
Personally I love this story from the start until the brilliant end!
Every Girl/Woman suffering should have her own Nolan!!
I will be waiting to read another book from Leigh Lennon for sure!!
This is the first of Leigh's books I have read and I absolutely loved it.
This book is full of mystery, hate, love and regret, but also has strength, resilience and bravery.
It is so well written and was very surprising to me as I wasn't really sure what to expect. It does not at all plan out like I thought but in the best way. I was reading it and just wanted to find out what happened next. It is written in a nonlinear narrative (hope that is how you describe it lol) which I really enjoyed.
I am not going to go into any of the details as I think it is a story that will speak to each person differently. The ending though was brilliant and I just loved it!
I received an advanced reader copy of this book with no obligation to write a review.
3.5 stars!
I really enjoyed this book! A unique, intriguing and dramatic story about a young girl’s kidnapping that had me madly flipping pages, desperate to see how it was all going to turn out.
Twelve years ago, college student Mikayla Miller woke up tied to a bed in an unknown house, having been taken from her family. Her kidnapper is a quiet man named Nolan who is not violent or threatening. In fact, he seems to go to extraordinary lengths to make sure she’s comfortable, sure that he is actually saving her, forcing her to question everything.
“You can’t comfort me when you are the reason for my pain.”
From afar, he looked at her with tears in his eyes. “No, Mikayla, I’m trying to save you.” As he walked away, she knew he was correct in plucking her from the life she’d known, and that scared her more than it should have.
It’s an interesting dynamic, and one that sets the scene for the intriguing story to come as the book splits into multiple parts. We not only get Mikayla’s story of her kidnapping, but also the POV of her mother, and a girl from her home town – following the three of them through the emotional rollercoaster in the months following her being taken.
We are also given those same three POVs in the present – 12 years following the kidnapping. Each of them are in a very different place, but with their lives still very much intertwined. And their lives are thrown back into chaos when Mikayla makes contact with her family, raising a whole lot of questions and leaving them wondering if/why she chose to stay away for so long.
I love the idea of this story, and I think the way it was written is really clever. The different perspectives provide an added depth, and the time switches keep it interesting, as we know where the story is heading, and just watching it all reach that point.
In the past we see Mikayla is struggling with her growing attraction to the mysterious Nolan. He makes his feelings for her clear, and though she is understandably confused by the whole thing, she is unable to deny her growing feelings for him.
“So what, I care for you and find you sexy as sin…” Her words trailed off when a silly grin covered his face. “But, Nolan, there is a diagnosis for what I’m feeling.”
“Don’t say it, not the words, because what we have goes beyond some fucking psychological mumbo-jumbo,” he replied, taking her hand again. “Don’t think sweetness. Just feel.”
In the present, she is happy and very much in love, but struggling over her decision to leave her family the way she did. There is a whole lot of emotion and drama as the full story is revealed in both the past and the present, and I was captivated as it all played out.
“I choose you, I choose you – always.”
However, I did feel like it was missing something. For a story with such emotional potential, I didn’t feel as much as I was expecting I would. While I was definitely intrigued and wanted to know how it was all going to end, I just didn’t connect to the writing enough to get me fully emotionally invested. I also needed a bit more build up with the romantic storyline, I didn’t really feel Mikayla and Nolan’s connection, which didn’t help my overall reaction.
But I did enjoy this one. It’s sometimes difficult to find something unique in the world of romance, and I thought this story, and the way it was written, brings something really unexpected, which I appreciated.
Definitely a good read. 3.5 stars.
WOW just WOW
I have read other books by Leigh Lennon and loved them but this one, this one is by far my favorite even though I was a bit confused at first lol
To anyone that looks at Mikayla she seems like a normal, sweet, young college student. She is the youngest of her siblings but hides a secret from everyone. One night while she is out studying she meets a handsome man named Nolan. There is an instant attraction between these two from the very beginning.
Nolan vows to protect the ones he loves at all cost. He goes from captor and protector to the love of Mikayla’s life and protector in a short about of time. Nolan’s initial approach is not one anyone woman wants but after what he has been through Mikayla understands why he did what he did.
Get ready to enjoy another great book by Leigh Lennon with plenty of drama and heat on every page!! I can’t wait to see what Leigh has in store for us next!!
This book was outstanding. I simply couldn’t put it down. This author has a new fan and I can’t wait to read their next book. Honestly glad I gave a new author and this book, which is a completely new genere for me to read, a try.
Nolan aka David had taken a pledge yo save lives, but one event that changed both his and his brothers lives forever had him taken it farther then just that of a doctor.
Makayla aka Colett has lived with a fear of someone close to her. Leaving home she soon finds herself once more hurt.
When Nolan takes her away from her abuser she fights hard not to fall, months later that fight leaves and they start their new lives.
Years later, needing to have closure Colette starts a chain of events that reveals the truth of a beloved family member.
This book was the first I've read from this author, and I was quite impressed. This is also a genre I don't normally read. She pulled me in and I read it every chance I got until I was finished. I love the perspectives from the other characters and how she went from the past to the present seamlessly. I loved the main characters with their faults. Especially Nolan/David, and love the twist revealed at the end. This book really made me think about what is acceptable and forgivable when love is involved. When Love blinds you and your actions are not necessarily accepted by society.
Since picking up my first Leigh Lennon book, I’ve been more than willing to jump on each new release. I completed Unfiltered, Unacquainted, and Unwanted in quick succession, eager to read the connected standalone novels. The spinoff novellas – The Holiday Package and The Sweetest Package – that make up the Jake Davis duet were quickly devoured, also. Throughout it all, I’ve been eager for one book in particular – the promised dark romance.
You see, dark romances are my biggest weakness. I love them. The darker the better, I say. Thus, when I saw an author I enjoy was writing a dark romance, I was excited. It was a step away from what Leigh Lennon usually writes, but I was intrigued. Unfiltered, Unacquainted, and Unwanted were all deeply emotional reads, so I knew Leigh Lennon was more than capable of bringing about emotions. The Holiday Package and The Sweetest Package had plenty of action and steam, leaving me with the belief she was capable of adding other necessary aspects of a good dark romance. All in all, I was ridiculously eager to dive into Stockholm.
My standards for what I consider to be a dark romance seem to be quite different to a lot of romance readers. Most of the books I consider dark enough for me are the ones most people throw on did not finish piles because it was too gritty. I’ll read the more mainstream dark romances, but I do not love them as much as those that like to push limits. With Stockholm, however, I’m unsure as to whether I would willing put it under the dark romance genre. Kidnapping and abuse do not equate to a romance being dark – it merely equates to the book dealing with heavy issues. When compared to Leigh Lennon’s other work I will say this one is darker, but I would not label it a dark romance.
In fact, my brain flickered throughout so many genres when trying to label this. Pseudo dark romance or dark romance lite was considered. Romantic suspense was considered. Family drama or family thriller was considered. It was one of those books that seems to cut across quite a few genres, leaving me somewhat unsure as to where it fits. It is very much in line with the women’s fiction trend in family dramas where there are thrills to be found and heavy topics are dealt with, where we follow a selection of women throughout the story, with parenthood being a heavy theme. In many ways, I was more willing to label this a family drama with dark elements than I was willing to label it a dark romance. Of course, this may just be a reflection of my wide reading tastes – due to reading across so many genres, I often find myself breaking down genres in a different way to other people.
Despite how this book was not quite the dark romance I had expected it to be, I did enjoy it. In truth it was more of a three-point-five-star rating, but I opted to round down due to my high expectations when it came to the darkness. Other reviews I have read had convinced me this would be an extremely dark read, but each time an element came about that allowed for darkness, I found my mind conjured up darker elements than we were given. I enjoyed the elements, but I was constantly holding out hope that things would slip into the truly dark. Again, though, this could be a reflection of my reading preferences and how I favour overly dark books.
At the start of this one, we’re thrown straight into the events. With our chapters alternating back and forth in time, the details of the story slowly come together. I will admit that a lot of the details I managed to work out very early in the book, but I did appreciate watching the way in which they developed. Following the story of three women, we get to watch as their stories become more interwoven, we get to watch as the past and the present blend, and throughout the story keeps us gripped and wanting more.
Moreover, I’m intrigued by the future possibility I’m hearing about related to this book. One thing that intrigued me throughout the story was the journals – the ending in particular left me with a serious ‘hot damn’, and a contemplation of rounding this rating up instead of down. There is no doubt I will be grabbing them when they are sent out via newsletter, and I’m hoping for a companion novel filled with snippets from the journal. It’s something I’m really excited about reading, and I hope it goes further than simply being a special bonus for newsletter subscribers.
Overall, I did enjoy this one. For fans of Leigh Lennon, this is certainly a book worth reading. I do believe her writing style is better suited to the more emotional contemporary reads than the seemingly dark – the writing was exactly what I have come to expect from Leigh Lennon, yet the tone didn’t feel like that of a dark romance to me – but that will not stop me from reading whatever Leigh Lennon brings us next. I’m certainly excited to see what more Leigh Lennon brings us in the future – I’m already eager for some of her upcoming work.
With twists and turns that I was not expecting this book kept me on the edge of the seat.
Especially the huge twist at the end that left me gasping in shock!
I fell in love with Nolan even if he wasnt quite your typical hero! Even as David you couldnt not love him!
I've read a number of kinky Stockholm stories, this book was nothing like I expected. Leigh shows us the real story of a Stockholm relationship. You see how it affects not only the victim but also the loved ones of the victim. This story made me question what morals I have left because I did love the hero and his protective ways. Leigh put a few things into this story that I didn't expect. This book was so wonderfully written. I hope we get more dark stories from her in the future!
This book is not for the faint of heart, but so worth every tantalizing moment! Just when you think you have things figured out, it all comes out from under you. I felt so conflicted the whole time, which is a testament to how well-rounded and human the characters are. Even when you every fiber of your being wants to disagree with a character, you can always empathize with them and see their perspectives. Steamy, fun, dark, and all in all a wild ride!
When I started this story I just knew it would be a regular stockholm-based story. Wrong-O Betty Lou!
As a reader, you will need to take this read slow and focus with this story. There are a lot of POVs and they ARE all important in the grand scheme of things. This book is a serious mind game!
I recommend this story if you’re in the mood for a dark thriller!
4.5 stars!
I loved this new and different story line from Leigh Lennon. Stockholm is a darker story than the books she has written in the past. But everything about this book was just wonderful. The ease and flow from past to present with each chapter makes for a seamless story telling. And the multiple points of view also work well with each chapter. And really it's three POV's that we read from but don't let that overwhelm you because they all flow with the story. Mikayla/Colette, Libby, and Taylor are the women which tell this story about love, loss, heartache, and recovery. And add to all of that, the twists and turns the story takes. You just want to keep reading to find out what happened in the past as well as how the present is handled.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
