A mission to a forgotten planet. A disgraced admiral facing an implacable foe. And on the forefront of battle, the dreaded Warp Marines.
As the greatest power in the galaxy launches a major offensive into human space, a small expedition ventures into the unknown, searching for a weapon that may turn the tide for the beleaguered United Stars of America. But will digging around the lost ruins of an ancient - and evil - civilization provide the answers the US needs, or bring destruction to the entire galaxy?
C.J. discovered his obsession with making up crap and writing it down at the age of 6, when he wrote his first short story, back in the days when the Cold War was still on and the only mobile devices were the wrist watch and the walkie-talkie. He's been making up crap and writing it down for fun and profit ever since.
A CJC. SYFY. Novel (WMCB. - 4)/The Elders of the Universe Make Themselves Known
CJC. has. penned the fourth novel in the Warp Marine Corps series. Both side have decimated the enemy to a point of no existance. Earth has learned of ancient spaceships that could end the war for the winners in a short time. The Elders do not want this to happen and have issued a warning. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
For those of us that enjoy occasionally drifting off to gentle welcoming slumberland with a good book as a induction aid - this is SO Not that book. More of a suggestion of Hell, from a pretty much still human viewpoint. In a good way, of course. For strange values of good....
This series gets better and better. I'd describe it as a cross between Warhammer 40K, Starship Troopers and Star Wars. Basically, every intelligent species in the known universe is trying to kill all the humans and it turns out that they may have a good reason for that.
Yes, it's just awesome! I read this story over the course of an afternoon because I just couldn't put it down.... It's just that good!! It ended is a manner that left me wanting my next fix/episode... That's what a superior author does..
Major Zhang and the Warp Marines are after more of the alien ships that could turn the tide in their battle with both their alien enemies and their mutinous fellow sailors.
The finally felt rushed. I've enjoyed all the books in this series. This felt unfinished, overall I'm sad it's ending. there were many different avenues the author could have taken to continue the story line.
Just like the other books in the series, a solid read!!!!
However, there are misspelled and mis-used words and grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the book. These aren't one off issues, but appear on almost every other page. It appears absolutely no proofreading or editing was done. An editor is desperately need
Could not put this one down. Such an interesting story with great characters. The way warp space works and the resulting space battle tactics set the stage for humans' struggle to find a place in a largely unknown Galaxy.
A conundrum fo sure. It may well depend on the circumstances of the upbringing. Whether in was this reality OR is there ANOTHER. Acceptance is indeed another criteria of belief. Does it mold you Or it molds you? Either way could very well be a look onto hell. Kinda harsh for the pilots in the Earths Warp Marine Corp to exist in. HOWEVER it was a choice of circumstances. Faced with Earths eventual extermination by former allies & fearful distant aliens just what can they do? Like the Greeks @ Thermopylae they chose to greet their enemies on both planes of existence. Here in battle & in hell. Their lives: MOLON LABE!
Better than the second installment. The author presents an apt metaphor for our current circumstance. It is marred by minor grammatical errors but I'd read it again and I look forward to the next installment.
A great addition to the warp marine universe for sure. Action from start to finish. Defending humanity against all comers. Really gets you going. Cannot for next book
Major Zhang leads an expedition to recover more of the ships she discovered in the last adventure with the hopes of turning the tide in the war with the Gimps. As usual the marines end up having to kick alien butt.
I've tried to read some other series on Amazon, and they left me feeling ... flat. Then Carella's newest tome dropped, and wow! I like the writing. I like the characters. Even though I'm kind of sure that Book 6 won't be the end of any of the main characters, the ones who got through books 1-5 ... well, there's plenty of suspense for me.
This is a deal-with-the-devil series. Almost literally. There are creatures that live in warp space, called Warplings. Some of them seem to enjoy pain, suffering, and death. The United Stars of America is getting pretty cozy with the powers of some pretty unsavory characters. Will the good guys still be good guys if they use the devil's horses to win the war? Maybe, maybe not. That's the suspense I'm talking about.
Gosh, we've come so far from that first book where the natives attacked the warp marines on that backwater planet. This series is becoming an epic good-vs-evil story, with characters who seem to grow in each episode.
Speaking of "the writing," it seems like Carella looked at each paragraph and asked, "How can I say this differently from the ways it's been said before?" ... and then came up with a winner every time.
Let's get off this cliff-hanger ending and start reading the next book now!
This is another very good book in the Warp Marines series. The stakes keep getting higher, with a lot of well-plotted action and characters who continue to evolve in interesting ways. Humans are in a hostile universe, faced with the very immediate threat of being exterminated and forced to make choices that are gradually turning more and more of them into monsters. That has been happening to some extent throughout the series, but becomes more apparent now.
What a read cj carella writes like a age old master the action is very well done and the story is inventive congratulations. I can't Wait for book five
