Shh, shh, close your eyes. Shh . . . shh . . . Cierra los ojitos. Outside, the rabbits are sleeping, Afuera, los conejitos están durmiendo and the birds, and the squirrels. junto con los pajaritos, y las ardillas. Inside, Grandma tucks us snugly into bed. Adentro, Abuelita nos da las buenas noches. The stars and moon are shining bright. Las estrellas y la luna brillan.
Sweet dreams! ¡Dulces sueños!
As warm and comforting as a grandmother's voice, this endearing book in the My Family/Mi familia series makes bedtime a soothing family tradition.
Este encantador libro de la serie My Family/Mi familia, tan cálido y reconfortante como la voz de una abuela, ayuda a convertir la hora de dormir en una armoniosa tradición familiar.
I truly appreciated the fact that Pat Mora had the consideration and time to translate the Spanish words alongside the English words within this book. I appreciated this because many Spanish authors will write books in English and toss in Spanish terms within their literature, but will leave it up to the reader to try and figure out what the term means in English. Translating the words, as Pat Mora has done, helps English readers connect to the story and helps them understand exactly what they are reading. I also like that the Illustrator, Maribel Suarez, uses bright colors in her illustrations and uses cartoon-like drawings that make it very appealing for younger Elementary school-aged students in Pre-K and/or Kindergarten. The innocent and message about different things and beings going to sleep at night was great and fitting for younger children that can relate to being out to bed by their parents. I would recommend this for Pre-K and/or Kindergarten students, as well as for those that are native Spanish speakers.

This one is more simple than the other Mi familia books, but it’s still sweet. Abuelita tucks the kids and pets into bed while talking about other animals going to bed. As usual, we love the Spanish and English printed in one book.
Once again Pat Mora has a wonderful book! This one would be more for home than school, as it is more of a bed time book. But you could still have it in your classroom library!
What a fun story to read. I only know a little Spanish, but I could not help but look at the translation to improve my Spanish. Anything by Pat Mora should be included any classroom that has any ELL students. This could be used in the reverse order as well, anybody like me that wants to learn Spanish, this would be a great tool to use.
En esta historia ilustrada contada en inglés y en español, una abuela acuesta a sus nietos por decirles que todos los animalitos también se están durmiendo. In this illustrated story told in both English and Spanish, a grandmother puts her grandchildren to bed by telling them all the animals outside are sleeping.
Love this format. You can either read both the english sentences or the spanish sentence or pick and choose which words you want to read. All about a boy and a girl being tucked in at night by their abuelita.
This book is part of the "My family, Mi Familia" series. This is an excellent series with simple illustrations and clear writing. I really like how the Spanish and English have equal presence. The typeset has been done in such a way as to make it easier for beginning readers.
This is a sweet bedtime book. I did have an issue with the way the text was arranged. The Spanish and English were not always arranged in the same way so it was sometimes confusing to follow one or the other. Obviously, it isn't difficult for an adult, but it might be for a young child.
Same series ("My Family/Mi Familia") as "Let's Eat/A Comer". Again, simple, pleasant story of Abuelita/Grandma putting children to sleep, talking about the little animals going to sleep.
Very smooth book. Reminds my son of his grandma. He called out for his "Tatti" while I read it to him. Definetly want to get own copy to re-read to my son.
